The staff here are always interested in assisting their customers at any given moment. They have remembered who I am every time I go to this branch. They are friendly, professional and they never make you feel like you are intruding. And you never feel like you are an imposition asking questions they probably heard a million times. The staff always answers with a smile and always asks, before you leave, if there is anything else they can help you with. To mention the staff I have regularly dealt with are Brian, Emily, Chad and Elanda. They are the epitome of what customer service is and should be like everywhere. With recent time sensitive issues, Elanda and Chad were instrumental in getting my issue taken care of with the utmost respect to me and to my situation. When I returned at 2:55 PM, I was greeted by Melissa Jayme, who didn't even realize I was her scheduled appointment. She initially said she likely wouldn't be able to help me, and only after a teller informed her did she proceed with the appointment. I explained that I was handling my late grandmother's account as a beneficiary, but Melissa showed no empathy and was dismissive the entire time. She requested two forms of ID, and when I provided my passport, she seemed irritated and questioned if it was sufficient. She also doubted my notarized documents and went to ask a teller, who confirmed they were correctly completed. Instead of helping me, she came back and insisted I complete forms that I couldn't even fill out without knowing what was in the account. She ultimately did nothing to assist me--just wasted my time. Dealing with the loss of a loved one is already hard enough; the least she could have done was provide decent customer service. I'm relieved that most of the process was handled at another branch because I did not feel comfortable here at all. Maybe CEFCU used to be good. Not anymore!) They don't charge you $1.50 for overdrawing your account; they charge you $28 per transaction. Everything they do, they do incredibly, unbelievably, painfully slowly. I told an acquaintance of mine that I was looking to change banks. He asked who I was with and when I said "SEFCU" he shook his head slowly and said, "I left them 20 years ago. They're awful. They don't care, and they act like they're doing you a favor." And indeed, that has been my exact experience with them. They're technophobic to the point that they don't trust their computers and so forth to secure funds; instead they need to see you face-to-face, and assess your transactions for 90 days (yes, NINETY DAYS) before they'll let you deposit a check through their mobile app. Because, you know...you just can't trust those computers! Ask them why any of their nonsensical, self-serving policies are in place and they won't be able to answer your question. They are a credit union perfectly in step with the thinly disguised backwoods 'burb that is Albany. Awful.

in all of the years that i have had a bank account of any sort, and yes - even back to when i had…read morethat little book for my very first savings account, this is the best bank ever. and i mean Ever. if you make mistakes and overdraw yourself, they cover it. and don't charge you a zillion dollars (i overdrew by 1.48 recently, poor math on my part. and they charged me 1.50 for it. citizens bank and key bank would have charged me $35 or just bounced my car payment.) and then to boot, the online interface is lovely. you can transfer funds quickly and easily from checking to savings or back again. oh. and plus. their people are Really friendly. and happy! today i went thru the drivethru and the girl was just super friendly and smiling and telling me to have the Very Best of Days. and meaning it. even on those little tv's in the other location they are always very friendly. i very much love sefcu (as much as you can love a bank.) oh - one problem, their online site has an icon that looks like a washing machine dial that you select to go to your personal account. it is odd. also they charge too much for online bill paying but i am willing to take the little bit of bad with all that good.

On the phone, they admitted that they have no dispute process for such matters and made it clear that they have zero desire to do anything outside of their processes. Basically, they just brushed me off. The other bank (ALLY) was helpful investigating the matter, providing meaningful answers and removed the inquiry.
