The house manager put himself in the middle of a client and spouse's marriage. They encouraged the…read more husband to not tell his wife or adult son where he was after he went missing from a Boston hospital. When the wife went to the facility to ask if he was there, they claimed "HIPAA" and refused to tell her if her husband was there. The wife then saw her husband's name on the facility's electronic board that listed clients' names and she saw her husband's name on the board. So much for HIPAA! The wife was about to head to the police station to file a missing person's report on her husband because she had dropped him off in Boston at Tufts Hospital for psychiatric care while he was in a mental health crisis on Sunday. The nurse took him in and that was the last time the wife had seen him. When she called Wednesday to check on him, the hospital told her he had been discharged the same day he went in. The husband was at one of the facility's half way houses for over three days and they never encouraged him to let his wife and son know where he was and offered no help when she was frantically looking for him because of "HIPAA"but displaying his name on the board for all who enter to see. Asinine! Had the wife not seen his name on the board, she would never have found out if he was safe or still in danger of hurting himself on the streets of Boston. Because they inserted themselves in between a client's marriage, their client now has to deal with a divorce while battling his mental health crisis and sobriety. And the client's disabled wife and disabled adult son are now left to pick up the pieces of their life while moving on without the caretaker and provider they depended on.
