The food was good for the venue, but probably not the main point of the restaurant. The pork tacos and grilled lobster were good, well seasoned and fresh, but not special. We were all looking forward to the lechon and hoping for a memorable suckling pig with a crisp and translucent skin. New Yorkers are spoiled by the excellent Filipino and Dominican versions of lechon found in NYC. Unfortunately, the one found here had tough, leathery skin, but the meat was very tender. Not seasoned enough, a prolific assortment of condiments was provided. The space was very clubby, and we sat overlooking the avenue below on a 75 degree Mexican evening enjoying the warm breezes. Very ambient chill feel here, but the food could have made this place a contender. We enjoyed good wine, good conversation and the great local climate, Viva la Mexico!

It melted a bit on the tongue. The suckling pig tacos were dynamite. The meat was tender, and topped with a crispy piece of chicharron. The presentation was impeccable. The flan was also really tasty, and made for a light, sweet, and to a delicious meal.

This is a relatively new location for the Toks restaurant, and is quite nice…read more Part of a larger Shopping Center called Plaza Sendero La Fe right on the Miguel Alemán highway (near the Monterrey airport), there is plenty of parking. The ambience is very nice with classy modern decorations. There are large comfy booths as well as nice tables and chairs which can be re-accommodated for larger groups. The menu provides a large variety of options from salads and soups to sandwiches, burgers steaks, carne asada, antojitos mexicanos, and more. They have a great breakfast menu, and a large selection of drinks, juices, soft drinks, coffees and teas. They also have some wonderful desserts. There is an indoor children's play area so children can play while the parents chat. I have been here multiple times and have always found their service to be very good and staff to be pleasant. I usually order the caldo tlalpeño, but they have many delicious things from which to choose to satisfy your cravings. Sonora steak burrito 149 pesos (~$8) -- extra extra salty! Comes with sliced rib eye, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, and cheese. I wasn't a fan of this, especially when my "burrito" looked and tasted more like a panini. 2. Baja Shrimp Burrito 149 pesos (~$8) -- better than the steak burrito. Comes with refried beans, caramelized onions, tomato, spinach, cheese, and chipotle dressing. Still panini-like and smaller than usual burritos. Not as salty as the steak burrito, but the amount of ingredients inside can improve. 3. Elote-- Complementary side with each order of burrito. Or should I just call this "brown rice corn?" Taste just like brown rice, as if it was microwaved in water. They give you mayonnaise, lime, and cajun peppers on the side so you can DIY your elote. I'm in Mexico! The ambience was terrible no warmth or style and the wine list by the glass had just one option. I went alone while on a business trip and ordered a steak. It arrived lukewarm, with a strange color and no flavor. I sent it back and asked the waiter to recommend a better cut. The second steak was slightly better, but again not hot and still lacked flavor. To make things worse, when the check arrived, they charged me for both steaks. My total came to about $200 US dollars for one person. When I mentioned the first steak should at least be discounted since I barely touched it, they refused. Overall, this is not a place for anyone who truly appreciates good food or fine dining. Definitely a no-go.
