Just finished my meal three hours a go…read more I found out about this place a couple of weeks a go. With the rest of the family off to a work related Christmas do, I found myself alone with numerous option for tea. Since I wasn't feeling it for the local chippy any more, I settled my craving for chicken. I did not let the threat of slipping on the icy pavements and cracking my head open deter me from my goal, with it being a rather short distance from my home. Stepping inside, I was immediately greeted by the cashier. She was polite, patiently talking me through what sauce and seasoning for the fries I would like. I decided on the six chicken tenders combo meal, which comes with fries and a can. I went for their original peri peri sauce for my tenders and peri salt for the fries, also opting for a regular side of onion rings for the hell of it. My wait time wasn't that long, probably five or seven minutes, I wasn't paying much attention. I bring my food straight home and unpack to get a good look. A rather good potion of fries along with the tenders: four good sized strips of chicken in a crispy coating, other two were tiny. Not that I minded because it was still a big amount of meat for me. Everything tasted amazing. The only thing I wasn't enjoying too well was the onion rings. They were cheap ones, but to be honest, it's been a while since I was last impressed by onion rings so i'll let that slide. The bill, was a tiny bit on the pricey side. But compared to KFC, it does seem to be more value for money. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed what I got and will most likely visit this place again.

Seems a little pricey but you do get a decent potion of food.
I first came to Mojo years ago and I'm happy to report that the years have been kind, possibly…read morekinder to Mojo than myself, as the place has retained all the charm and fun that it ever had. At the far end of the bar there is an art work describing 'Mojo' and throughout the decor of the bar gives off the essence of cool, without being arrogant. I've always found the staff to be vibrant and friendly and they're certainly expert in their knowledge of the drinks they serve. Be it cocktails or a continental beer they can advise you well, depending on your palette. The music is cool, with a great mix of inoffensive indie and electro. You can dance, albeit be it at your own risk, since the bar is small and often tightly packed! Drinks might be a little more on the expensive side, and they don't serve anything on tap (at least they never used to), but that has the bonus side-effect of enticing a good crowd into the bar. Coctktails and interesting beers are on the menu so you're spoiled for choice! So, prop up the bar, grab a window stool or nab a comfy seat at the back, either way you'll be certain to have a good time.

Hidden down a side street near Gatecrasher, Mojo is a tiny little bar that does everything it can to be different from anywhere else in Leeds - and it succeeds in this aspect. A wide selection of continental beers are on offer - you can choose your own, or simply leave it to the barman to decide by asking simply for a beer. They also offer spirits and wines with a similarly global feel, and play some absolutely quality tunes, old and new, spread across eclectic genres such as soul, indie and rock. Mojo isn't cheap, but it's something different from what the rest of Leeds has to offer, so I'd definitely recommend it if you've got the dosh.

For the main, I ordered a plain classic burger, and it was served with plenty of chips and coleslaw. It was fantastic. However, the tables are just a bit mucky, but it's not a major drawback. Also, the food service is quite slow, which if you're really hungry isn't much good.

The gratuity popped up on the screen when paying by card and did not clearly state that it was %, so my £10 tip from myself ended up being 10% of the entire tables bill, £44.76, on top of everyone elses tip, so BEWARE when tipping. Also, I don't know how the till works but I have a few items that do not calculate correctly, for example 3 portions of onion rings came to £17.68, this does not divide by 3?!? It was only 1p more expensive but how is it possible for the till to calculate incorrectly and does it do it often? Is this even legal?

Anywho food wise this place is average. The stea was good but the curley fries were soggey from the steak and the side salad was a bit lacking. Though be warned there are some dangerious curves in the place.

It's also very good value, with that burger priced at £5 and chilli cheese fries and trailer trash fries, meals in themselves, at £4. They also do wings which I shall go back to try. The trailer trash fries involve pulled pork and are really delicious - that's about as good as pulled pork as I've had in Manchester, I think better than Red's or Cocka Doodle Moo down the road in Hazel Grove. My burger involved some good quality bacon, a fried patty of mac and cheese. I would have liked some ketchup but couldn't see it around and feared insulting the staff by adding to their masterpiece! The burger meat isn't quite as good as Filthy Cow, but good nonetheless. Some of the other creations get pretty wild Almost Famous-style, including a donut burger (or is that Solita?). I really liked the set up of the restaurant which had red booths, country music playing and drinks served in plastic red cups. As is obvious from the review it takes a lot of the best of the other burger restaurants in Greater Manchester and puts them together in a winning combo. I am close enough to walk to this place, which is both good and bad for my health (especially as they do takeaway). No doubt I will be back.
