None of the fluffy what not to do lectures here! The Baywinds spot is knee-waist deep during high tide, perfect for walking upwind and learning. On average I am paying 123$/hr for instruction. Considering gear is included and Giovanni has well over 20 years of experience teaching, this is a bargain!

There is no substitute for experience, I'm an autodidact and had watched tutorials on every subject covered, having a good teacher's supervision was well worth it, in terms of time and safety. Anyone can look up California law regarding gift certificates and decide if this is criminal or not. Made an attempt to use a gift certificate for an expensive three lesson package last season. Weather and timing did not work out by end of the season. Owner encouraged me to try again this year. Business has been sold and it seems others with prepaid gift certificates have been left high and dry. New owner reports being surprised by outstanding gift certificates and is unable to honor them. Not cool, beware!

I could've bought it online two months ago, but I've held out, and I feel foolish because I could've been enjoying it this whole time. A local business needs to meet the consumer half way and stock what they say they're going to stock roughly when they say, or order it for me, or tell me it can't be done. Changing my review from 5 stars to 2…read more The quality of the technical work has gone down substantially since the business changed hands last year. . I have been going here for over 15 years. My kids got annual boot fittings. Gary previously did a great job. Several experiences in the past year have been awful. The new guys just aren't as good! Examples: We bought one pair of boots and custom beds that are painful and over sized. Brought in a boot for adjustment and they couldn't get it right. I brought in some skis for a simple core shot repair and tune. The repair was not flush with the base. There was tons of wax still on the ski. Yikes. I brought in touring skis with a dynafit binding and they refused to mount it because they did not have the right jig. Go get the jig! Or do it manually. My overall assessment is that this is a now ski store for blue skiers who want a convenient place to buy stuff. This is not a store where you're going to get technically excellent service.
