The evening was very informative, we got to taste 6 different scotch whiskeys and learn about the history and heritage of each type of whiskey! The night consisted of tasting 3 whiskeys, then pausing for a light dinner and then resuming to another 3 whiskeys! It was a fun filled night and you can't complain at paying £20 too! So cheap! The venue was the perfect location for this sort of evening I would definitely recommend people to go to their next events in December and January!

I was also hungry and was told that the only food options were a couple of sandwiches. But I was assured that the sandwiches were quite good. I was told by the bartender that the cheese and onion was the best. Fast forward to a couple of seconds later as I stared in horror at this abomination before me. Perhaps they were just ribbing this yank. I will include a photo. It was a dry roll with the hardest block of cheese know to man and four gigantic rings of raw onion. And that is it! I could barely smell it much less eat it. I love the UK for so many reasons--their sandwiches are not one of them. Perhaps caramelize the onions, or pickle the onions, add some mayo or mustard, anything would have improved this thing. I should have know better as I am still trying to figure out the breakfast ham roll that is ham on a roll (no egg, no cheese, no condiment, no thanks). Love the UK but you could level up the Sammy game.

Shortly after finding a table in the late morning the crowds came in. If you plan on coming with a large group I recommend calling ahead to get reservations. They were serving the breakfast/brunch menu during our seating. I opted for the bacon pancakes. The food is presented just beautifully like the perfect instagram photo. And it tastes just as good. If you are a tea drinker you must order a pot just for the cute factor. All teapots come out dressed in little tea cozys. I wonder if they sell them as they all look homemade. My only complaint is that the food came old on the cold side. Perhaps it was due to how crowded it was, but it was like the food had been sitting out for a while. Regardless it still tasted amazing. I think prices for the Plough are affordable. If you have an Independent Birmingham card you receive a discount so keep that in mind. This is my local and we've seen this place go through redesigns, new management and so on…read more If you're looking for a quiet drink with a nice atmosphere then this is the place to go. Perhaps out of the way for a few people but it means you get a lot of the locals in there (like myself!) which leads to a very pleasant and jovial ambience to the play. The low wooden beams and moody lighting might be the staple of this chain of pubs but don't let that put you off, this really is in the spirit of traditional old country pubs. The food is pretty good and there's a good selection of lagers bitters and ales on tap for the discerning drinker. The staff and the new management are much improved and very friendly with the punters and won't shy from a bit of joking and banter. The car park is always full, especially on Sundays when people go in for the Sunday roast which if anything is a sign of a successful establishment.
