I originally purchased an unlimited 1 month Groupon for here and I am so glad that I did! I went almost every day and definitely noticed & felt a difference. I've tried several different gyms/studios in the city and Kick is by far one of the best. The workouts here are AMAZING! It's 55 minutes of non-stop intense cardio & strength training. You will be doing lots of squats, burpees, star jumps, lunges, mountain climbers, etc as well as exercises with weighted bars & dumbbells. The staff/instructors are awesome and very friendly. They really push you to the limit and challenge you in new ways. I really love how they are constantly changing up the routine making every class fun and exciting. My favorites are the bike and burn and lower body burn bootcamp! I highly recommend trying any one of the class, you won't be disappointed. read more

Kick@55 Obstacle Course was a very intense 55-min class and I was definitely slacking toward the end of the class lol I started working out since Feb. 2017 and have lost about 30 lbs; however, I've reach a weight loss plateau... Kick@55 gave me a good workout last Sunday as evident by the soreness in my thighs, abs, and arms. While reading other Yelp reviews, I just noticed that they also offer nutrition counseling, which might be another problem I am facing - I watch how much calories I am eating everyday, but may not get all the nutrition I need. The workouts here are good. They're tough and worth the money. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because lately their classes have been unreasonably crowded. The last 2 classes I've taken there have people on top of each other to a point that you're constantly trying to not hit someone else. Kick@55 has been running a groupon promotion lately that is giving them way more attendees. These attendees still have to sign up online, so their sign up system can / should be adjusted to lower the capacity for the boot camp classes. Between their normal members, Groupon attendees, and ClassPass, they're getting a lot of demand and they're trying to pack in far too many people in a class. I have several friends that go there regularly and all have complained about the same thing. Additionally, one other common complaint is that the instructors do not walk around and fix your stance during weight lifting portion of the class. Since there are also no mirrors in the boot camp room, participants don't have a way to check if their posture is correct. This, coupled with the fact that the instructors don't adjust your stance, can cause injury. read more

I love working out here! It's a tough 55 minute workout with no scheduled breaks. 55 mins seems like a long time but it surprisingly goes by quickly. The workout is varied enough to keep it interesting. All the instructors have been motivating and attentive with proper form. Tracy and Rebecca, although some of the toughest instructors, crack me up during class! They're very accommodating to first time people, and encourage you take breaks and modify if you're a beginner. No reason to be intimidated if it's your first time. There's also modifications if you're more advanced to make it more challenging. The workout never becomes easy! Classes are pretty affordable through classpass but they also have class packs for purchase as well. read more

I'm a classpass member and couldn't be more thrilled that this studio is apart of my rotations. I join almost every Wednesday to the Total Body Obstacle Course (3x max per classpass cycle) and absolutely love Rebecca. She is inspiring, cares about you, makes sure you are advancing from week to week and wants you to be your best self. Do not get me wrong tho, she will push you until everything shakes which is what has me addicted and returning every week. I feel so accomplished, fit and happy for days after the workout. Was in Chicago for the weekend and found this place near my hotel. Did a class Saturday and Sunday. Studio is clean, adequately spacious. Small towels available. Workouts were tough and unique! They were comprehensive full body workouts. I must say I'm glad we didn't do much dedicated ab workouts as I definitely prefer the total body movements rather than crunches etc. read more

Update 7/6/17: Can I add 10 stars ?!! I lost 9 lb since Easter thanks to Rebecca gahan's nutrition consultation and boot camp. I finally learned effective and sustainable strategy for healthy eating and weight control. Rebecca also created an accountability group where my fellow kick@55 class members keep each other accountable and provide practical advise. I started going to kick@55 fitness about 8 months ago through class pass. I MAX out every month basically by the 2nd week. I decided 3 months ago to buy a package from Rebecca. It is the only class I have bought in addition to class pass. After experiencing the butt kicking burn workout from Rebecca, Tracy , Leslie Ann, other class pass classes just cannot compare. My legs, arms, butt, back are stronger. I can feel my abs. I am now a stronger runner and person. I can push myself further physically and mentally than I thought possible. I found Kick@55 via Groupon and I am so happy that I did. A little background on me: I've always struggled with my weight. Over the past year, I made losing weight and adopting better lifestyle choices a priority. Despite working out regularly and eating relatively well, I'd only lost about 9 lbs between May 2017 and Nov 2017. Since Nov, I'd been stuck at the same weight. The lack of results was frustrating and discouraging. I started going to the bootcamp classes at Kick@55 and fell in love. The classes are fast paced and very challenging. Tracy is an amazing instructor who pushes you to work hard every single class! I always leave the classes feeling exhausted and accomplished! I also did a nutrition consultation with Rebecca. I walked her through my goals and the struggles I've been facing. We reviewed what I am currently eating and some of the challenges I face being on the road most of the week (I travel Monday-Thursday every week so eat out frequently). Rebecca helped me make tweaks to my diet and gave me strategies for maintaining good eating habits while on the road. She even reviewed the menus the restaurants my team frequents and gave me suggestions on meal choices. Despite a few hiccups, I found Rebecca's tips easy to adhere to and I never really felt hungry. I've lost 9 lbs in the last 6 weeks following Rebecca's tips. I'm at the lowest weight I've been in 10 years! It feels so good and is motivating me to continue pushing forward! Thank you Kick@55! It is a HIIT studio as the description says. For beginners it is challenging but, it's worth it to keep going for those 55 minutes. There are no 'scheduled breaks' during the session however, all the trainers encourage you take a knee when ever you feel like it as you know your fitness levels better. I wouldn't particularly say that the trainers help you with your form as it is a continuously moving class which is why it isn't perfect for a beginner but you can definitely ask the trainer and they offer some assistance. Each trainer has their own style, there are a lot of cardio sessions between the weights sections. It is a well evened out session where you'll get a good burst of both strength and cardio. I personally felt the classes are lower body heavy (not a complaint as I think it's a good practice to do legs as much as one can) which can take its toll if you don't have good form. They're available on classpass at a fairly low credits band and on Groupon. You can buy classpacks directly though them or monthly unlimited which are pricier but that I'm sure is a personal preference. All in all a good studio to go to, I'd suggest 2 classes of this studio per week and you should be good. 3 per week and you don't need anything else. You'll see results soon coupled with some diet plan. 4.5 stars because there is no form correction as much as one would want. read more

I was in Chicago for work and stopped by this place because it was close to my hotel. It is an awesome workout. There is no let up and it is super intense. I regularly work out and I found this very challenging. The workouts are varied and with so many intervals you are doing something different every few minutes. Kick@55 can be reviewed in less than five words: serious workouts, awesome community. I've been a member at Kick for ~2 years and Rebecca has seen me through the highest highs and lowest lows. Previously I had been an on again/ off again exerciser (running, occasional classes, very long gaps in workout routines), Kick was able to provide the HIIT workout (weights & cardio) that fit my style and I consistently craved. The classes are not a joke, and the more you go the more you long for jelly like legs after lower body burn day and sore arms after upper body day. While the instructors are seriously ripped, never once have I felt intimidated while attempting a box jump or pull up from them - only encouragement. In addition to classes, after a break from the gym and packing on the winter (... turned to summer) pounds, Kick was right there to help me with a nutrition plan and counseling. I can't recommend the Kick enough for those looking for motivating instructors, killer workouts, and inclusive community! read more

I have been a member for 3 months. These classes are challenging, fast paced, and incredibly rewarding. I joined the gym as part of a weight loss contest run by Rebecca. It includes 2 nutrition consultations and unlimited classes. Rebecca provided us with diet and workout guidelines to reach our goals. I have already lost over 25 pounds and feel better in every sense. The gyms are both great. There is plenty of equipment and weights to challenge yourself in any workout. The instructors are also all exceptional. They all bring unique spins to any workout. The gym also encourages a sense of community where the members, staff, and instructors are all supportive and encouraging. read more

Okay legitimately I could write 3947327262627283747272737 words about how amazing this place is - but I'll try to keep this concise. I first started going to Kick just about a year ago at the suggestion of a friend. I'm going to be honest... I thought I was gonna die the first workout. But I needed it - I was coming off a several month long gym hiatus with a verrrrrrrrry squishy body. I was amazed at was how comfortable I felt even though most of the people there were clearly in much better physical condition than myself. People were helping me with my form on my squats and helping me when I didn't know what the hell a man-maker was. I never once felt out of place because I wasn't in amazing shape. The community at Kick is not something you come by every day. I've tried a lot of other boutique gyms and always come back here. What I'm most impressed with is the strength I've gained both physically and mentally. I started out not being able to do one real push-up - now I can easily do over 20 (). This place will kick your ass into shape!!! I've never felt so accomplished after a work out. Oh my god. I already work out 6 days a week (barre, lifting, MMA etc.) and thought I was fit AF until I came to this place and realized I'm just a bag of lard :/ but other than the huge blow to my ego, I LOVE their work outs! If you were ever part of the cult of Insanity and think that is hard - this thing is like Insanity on steroids. Think all the Insanity workouts but with weights and resistance belts and NO BREAKS. You're tired of running up and down the stairs? Good, now do some push-ups. Enough of that too? Do some jump ropes then. Now you think you're going to die? Ha you're funny, quit whining and get on your weighted reverse lounges already. It is so hard but I feel so accomplished every single time I walk out of the door! I hate workouts that make me feel like I really haven't done much with my time (cough cough Yoga and Zumba) but here, I def get my @55 kicked every time. P.S. Don't drink too much water / eat too much before you come here! Today I made the mistake of coming in on a full stomach and when they strapped me in on a resistance belt, I was thiiiiiiiis close to throwing up. Oops. read more

Kick@55 is really fantastic. I live in Edgewater so this is not my main gym, but I work in River North and so purchased a punch card for Kick@55 to supplement on days when I can't make it up north in time for classes. I usually attend Tracy's Wednesday night class and just love it! It a serious workout -- very tough stuff -- but I always feel fantastic afterward. Tracy keeps my attention all through class, throwing out great circuits and tabatas that require enough attention that the hour goes by in a flash. She is super supportive of everyone in class -- remembers my name every time. I would highly recommend this place, either for your all-of-the-time gym or as a supplement to your standard workout routine. Their punch card program is super helpful in that regard. read more

Hands down my favorite workout ever! I've probably tried all the studios and boutiques in Chicago, but Kick@55 is the only workout that has given me consistent results and keeps me coming back. The workouts are really tough but if you want to get in shape it's what's going to be effective for you. I joined Kick in April 2019 and have lost 20 pounds since (thank you, instructors!!) In addition, every instructor is really nice. They recognize it's a tough workout so they make the classes fun with good music, encouragement and occasionally partner exercises. It's definitely a judge-free zone. All in all, if you're on the fence give a couple different class formats a try! I feel like you'll see a difference in yourself pretty quickly. read more

We took the bootcamp class through class pass and we were in Chicago for the weekend from MPLS. Class was a great workout! We had Rebecca, she keeps you moving! The class was circuit style and we used a lot of different equipment which was fun! We used medicine balls, TRX, weights, steps, etc Expect to leave drenched! Great workout for all levels as you can adjust the workout as needed. Only callout is the gym was not super easy for us to find, so give yourself plenty of time the first visit. read more

While the workout was challenging, there are so many things that were extremely problematic about this class. This class was listed as "beginner friendly" which could not have been further from the truth. Many difficult or even advanced workouts were incorporated in the class (kettle bell swings, deadlifts) with no instruction on how to properly to these exercises- posing a huge risk to your body if done incorrectly (I definitely was doing these incorrectly). As for the instructor, she could not seem less interested in coaching the people in her class. She was visibly scrolling through her phone on Instagram for what looked like a majority of the class. She incorporated no time for a cool-down and a few measly stretches.The volume of the microphone and music was preposterously loud and she would only keep increasing it for songs she liked. I was really excited for this workout but it was unsafe for my body. read more

Came for total body circuit class on a Saturday morning. This was a very hard class, reminiscent of cross-fit style circuit workout. Studio-wise I do not love that it's in a basement. I did not get bored because the instructor moved very fast, which is great if you are in amazing shape and can keep up, but about 80% of the class was struggling. There were literally like three people who could keep up with her instructions. If you are not in great shape, I would say pass. If you are in decent to good shape, this class will challenge you. I discovered Kick@55 Fitness through Class Pass. I loved the variety and challenge of the workouts, so I signed up for an annual membership. I never walked away from a workout thinking that it was easy - every single workout pushed me and challenged me in new ways. If you go daily, you will find that every class is different too. The trainers are great and make every workout fun. My goal has been to attend 3-4x per week - combining Bike and Burn and Obstacle Course classes for variety. While I was getting stronger and increasing my endurance, I was finding that the number on the scale was not budging. I met with Rebecca and signed up for three months of her nutrition counseling. She introduced new meal planning techniques and provided me with accountability to meet my goals. I wouldn't call what she shared with me a diet, but more of an overall lifestyle change. It's a way to reframe how, when and what you eat with meal planning in advance. I experienced a 14lb weight loss (even over the brutal Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years holidays) and I plan to continue the positive trajectory of meal planning and regular workouts at Kick@55 through the new year. Their 55 min circuit strength training class certainly kicked my ass! We utilized almost every second of the class running or jumping around an obstacle course, squatting, lunging or weight lifting.
