What two-year-old can't recite the alphabet? And don't even get me started on "form drawing". Sheesh. I've been sending my kid to this school for four years and I've been pleasantly surprised by the…read moretransparency and philosophy of the school leaders, particularly Principal Morris-Carter. When families have communicated that there are urgent issues to address, Principal Morris-Carter has made the time for discussion and encouraged families to join the discussion on a virtual call. Principal Morris-Carter has stressed that she is guided by principles that prioritize the safety of students while they are at school, and also tries to see incidents from the perspective of young people that are learning and growing. The school staff have been particularly proactive about including families in conversations about making sure that our kids have access to classes that meet their learning needs. There's a lot more that schools could do to include parents in their processes, but with only one parent liaison and consistently-limited funding for staff, I think they are doing a good job.
