My granddaughter attends Milwaukee Montessori and is having the absolute best educational experience. The teachers are outstanding, thoughtful, considerate and helpful in every way. She is excited to go to school and each day that she comes home she explains all the interesting things they are doing, plus I feel like her vocabulary and insight about the world around her grows and grows. if your child is perfect, she/he will get. a good education. If not, they do not seemed interested and will dismiss at the drop of a hat. No time for those less than perfect. My foster child was born addicted. and is therefore hyper. They had no time to help her. Friend's perfect children have gotten great educations. They are not there to help everyone, only those who need no help. read more

I went to this school from 3-5th grade. It was a very traumatizing experience. I attended around 2010-2013 ish so I am not sure if the school has changed it a policies at all. When I attended there were many things that happened, which a lot of people wouldn't believe, but I will give an example of a few... At lunch we had a sugar free policy, my sister who also attended in 4th grade got her Key Lime Pie yogurt taken from her and thrown away by a staff member. The staff also made us stand in lines and remain completely silent, one time my sisters classmates were talking in line and so the gym teacher at the time took them outside without a coat or boots (when it was 10 degrees out with snow on the ground) and made them run suicide outside for about 20-30 minutes. Another example of an experience I had that really traumatized me was at lunch when we had assigned seats and were told to be silent, a child spilled his water. I laughed, because I was about 8 years old and thought it was kind of funny, and one of the "hall monitors" Ig you would call him, forced me to sit in front of all of 4th, 5th and 6th graders and proceeded to yell at me. Imagine, a grown man yelling at an 8 year old girl about me "bullying" another child for simply laughing at him spilling his water. I was crying in front of the whole lunch and he said, "if you want to cry, I will give you a real reason to cry." Then threatened to send me to the principles office and preceded to yell at me all lunch hour. Additionally, when we went to gym class, the workouts were very intense. One time I forgot a water bottle. I asked the gym teacher if I could drink from the water fountain and he said no. I then passed out (it was 80 degrees and sunny) and the assistant gym teacher saw. She then lifted me by my arms and dragged me with my feet on the ground to the principles office. They have me a single Dixie cup of water, let me sit there for about 10 minutes before sending me back to class. My parents were not notified that I had passed out. On top of this, on the academic side, I had came into the school at the beginning of 3rd grade, and previously attended a different Montessori school. I had not yet learned long division and when I got to MMS, instead of the teacher teaching me long division, she yelled at me for not knowing it already and made me feel extremely stupid, before finally teaching me. The teachers are not patient at all with children who are not prefect. I am now a college student at the University of North Carolina and was recently diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia and a math based learning disorder. So unless you are a perfect student, and even if you are I would not recommend this school. It is very damaging to young children and how they perceive their ability to learn. Additionally, in 4th grade, they put us into A and B groups when they taught us math, and they very intentionally pointed out which group was the "dumb" group. These are just some examples of what me and others have experienced while attending this school, and I still remember a lot of it because it was traumatic and I am now 20 years old and the way I view my ability to learn is still effected by how I was treated back when I was 8. If you care about your children, do not send them here. I was too young to know right from wrong back then, and my parents did not know how terribly we were treated, otherwise they would have unenrolled me asap. read more

Its a horrible schooL for young kids. Runs like a daycare program for children's house. Observed many times kids being handled very harshly by teachers and assistants. Not worth paying fees for, find another private school. Also got to know how badly they handled a disable kid from friend, Court asked them to pay 50,000$ for damages done to family. Really can imagine they doing that. Its a very harsh n stiff school. Milwaukee Montessori School has taught my children how to learn, and our whole family is better for it. Our children both started school as 3 yr olds and almost instantly came home empowered, capable and endlessly curious. We love that our kids get to grow in one classroom for a 3-yr period, so they have room to learn at their own pace and also develop solid friendships. Daily practice of foundational concepts in math and language is done with beautiful materials so that learning is hands-on and abstract ideas are easily within reach. I wish I had learned math the way my kids have! This also means far less standardized testing than a traditional school, something our family appreciates. It's always a conscious choice to re-enroll our two kids each year because it is a significant portion of our budget. Still every year we agree that if money were no obstacle we wouldn't even question sending them to Milwaukee Montessori School. read more

I was so excited when I found this school as I love the pedagogy and methods behind a montessori classroom. I'm a licensed early childhood/elementary school teacher myself so when choosing a school for my son I look for very specific qualities. My son just turned two and we wanted him to be around same age peers in a more structured, school-like environment. With covid going on it's been very difficult to get him social interactions regularly, and I am home with him full time so we thought seeking a school would be appropriate and highly beneficial for him. We also have noticed a few behaviors (sensory seeking) that just made us believe being around peers could be very good for him. He has no formal diagnosis of any sort. I was completely honest and forthcoming with the admissions lady at milwaukee montessori school. I thoroughly explained our situation, why we were looking to enroll him, and our sons behaviors we have seen at home. Throughout the admission process we were given zero indication that he wouldn't be accepted. We went through the application process. The first step was to come in for a parent tour. We completed that and thought we would move forward. The next part was to bring our son for a tour. This was really quite pointless because none of us are allowed into any classrooms so we just walk down a hallway and can look through the window. After the second tour with my son present I was able to ask more questions about the school. What I found out was absolutely appalling to me. I asked if they would make any type of accommodations for him to get used to going to school there and leaving us (we anticipate this being a pretty traumatic event for him, as I would think it'd be that way for any toddler going somewhere with out a parent for the first time). I asked about him having his security stuffed animal in the beginning which would eventually phase out. I was told no. I was then asking about children with other needs and how the school addresses IEP's (individualized education plans) and the woman told me "they don't do that." She also went on to explain that none of the teachers there are trained for or have any experience with modifications and accommodations for kids who may need it. So basically, if your child doesn't fit into this perfect little student mold they want, they will do NOTHING to try and help your child succeed. In addition to these things, when walking through the hallway and peering into the toddler classrooms (toddler rooms are all we saw so I can't speak to any of the older grades) it was a very eerie setting to see from 18 month-3 year olds. It was a very cold environment where these toddlers seemed to be very robotic. It was not at all the scene I would picture when seeing 9-12 happy 1.5-3 year olds. This place seemed to completely lack the core things you want in a school for such young, vulnerable kids! There was no evidence of compassion, joy, fun, empathy, excitement like I was expecting to witness on our tours. Instead, the adjectives I would use to describe what I saw would be sad, dreary, quiet, and somber. The environment did not give me any good feelings about sending my child there and certainly not once we were able to ask one on one questions with the admissions lady. We were very straightforward with our concerns about our son starting school (any school not just here as we figure the transition may be challenging for him) and asked her if our concerns would be any reason for them to reject his admission. She straight up lied to us and said "no, absolutely not. He's here now and doing just fine." It also very much seemed like once I had questions for her (such as asking about children with IEP's) the tone changed immediately. It felt like I was now being labeled as a "problem parent that's too involved" and that gave me the impression that was not something they were interested in working with. I'm so passionate about letting others know our experience here becauSe please please please do your research, check the school out with a very discerning eye, and ask questions before signing your child up for this place. As an educator myself, I cannot believe a school would operate under these principles. I was appalled and would never send any child of mine to Milwaukee Montessori School. We made the decision that we would absolutely NOT be sending any of our children to this school but we were rejected admission anyway. The reasons stated for our rejection were that they can not accommodate our sons needs and my concerns were too much. read more

Outstanding school! Our children all thrived at MMS due to the individualized lessons and caring community. The core curriculum is second to none but there is so much more here than you would ever expect. The physical education program is outstanding and prepares students for high school in whatever sport the child is interested in. Technology is incorporated into the curriculum with a focus on the respectful use of social media. The art program is amazing. And my child, who always said she wasn't good at Spanish, is sailing through advanced Spanish courses in high school. The Head of School, administrators and faculty care about every single student and provide whatever support the child needs to reach their goals. We couldn't be happier with our experience at MMS, and my wife and I strongly recommend this school to everyone. read more
