I wasn't happy with my previous daycare for many reasons and we started looking to find a new provider. From the moment I met Jen, I got this warm and positive vibe from her. You could just tell she is going to put her entire heart in your kids' wellbeing and education. We were also very impressed with how beautifully she has her school set up. The entire first floor is catered to kids; it's beautifully decorated, organized, and highly functional. The outside play area is fantastic; it's well cared for, it's totally enclosed and safe, and there is a lot of room to run around and play with toys (which there is no shortage off) and let's not forget the beautiful playscape! We immediately drank the cool aid and made the switch. BEST DECISION EVER. When it comes to the providers; Jen and Miss A, I could not ask for more caring, kind and understanding people to care for my children. It is clear that they love my kids dearly. They both go above and beyond any of my expectations. If you were to ask my kids what they love about Little Hands Big Hearts the most, it would be two things. First, it is breakfast. it's healthy, nutritious and kids love it!! And the second one would be all the fun daily activities; whether it's finger painting, play-dough, fun mini experiments or foot prints art. Each day they bring their projects home and show them off with pride. As a working parent, I can't be any happier with the school. Jen's schedule is superb! I look forward to my daily pictures of my kids texted to me; they are always smiling and always having a great time with their activities and outside play time. I receive daily reports with what they ate and how they did during the day. I am always able to count on Jens and Miss A's help and we all have very honest and open communication. They were instrumental in helping me potty train my daughter. And let me not forget to mention how much both of my kids have learned there. My son knows all of his numbers and letters, is so eager to write and loves to read. He is going to be so far ahead of the game for kindergarten. There is also nothing cuter then a 2 year old yelling out shapes and colors of things on our family walks and car rides. We are a bilingual household, and we only speak Polish to the kids at home so it is very easy for us to notice how much the kids have learned at school. BEWARE OF THIS DAYCARE…read more As both a former employee and a parent, I would never recommend Rainbow Center in Wethersfield to any family. I left this center because I could no longer feel comfortable being associated with the environment children were being exposed to. During my time there, I witnessed staff yelling at children for having accidents instead of helping them with patience and compassion. In the 2's program specifically, I personally heard a staff member insult children by calling them "ugly," "disgusting like their parents," using the R-word toward a toddler, and calling another child a "s--- like her mother." I also witnessed children being handled roughly, including being dragged by the hood of a sweatshirt and yanked by their arms. One situation that especially upset me involved a 1 1/2-year-old child who had been stung by a bee and was told to "suck it up" instead of being comforted appropriately. What makes this even more concerning is that the same employee who spoke to children this way and handled them roughly was also babysitting some of these same children privately outside of daycare hours. I also witnessed serious concerns regarding illness policies. During a hand-foot-and-mouth outbreak, children were allowed to remain in classrooms despite visible sores because staff did not want to inconvenience parents late in the day. As a parent myself, that was extremely concerning. Another major issue was the lack of accountability from management. I repeatedly reported inappropriate behavior and concerns directly to administration, including through text messages, and little to no action was taken. The employee involved remained working with children. The culture among staff was deeply unprofessional. Teachers openly mocked parents, criticized children's lunches, made insulting comments about families, and even mocked disabilities in front of children. No child deserves to grow up in an environment where adults speak about them that way. There are wonderful childcare workers everywhere who genuinely love and protect children. Mary Lou, Jackie, and Sharon are nurturing, attentive care givers for my three year old daughter (who has been with them since she was four months old) and now to our ten month old who has been attending for the last four months. Our oldest child absolutely loves going to school -- she misses it on holiday breaks and the weekends because she enjoys the craft times, reading books, helping to decorate the playroom or do other chores, and playing outside with her friends. At three, she can spell her name, recognizes letters and numbers, has an impressive vocabulary, can independently dress and take care of herself, and has better manners than kids far older. And as much as I would like to say we can take credit for it, I know so much of it is due to the care and personal attention she has received from Tiny Tot. Mary Lou, Jackie, and Sharon clearly love their jobs and these kids, who truly have become part of the family. They are firm with the kids never stern, and they insist that the older kids learn to help themselves as soon as possible. Our little one is so well cared for. For the babies, they rock and play with them, have circle time, and sing songs and practice movement. The holidays are so much fun at Tiny Tots -- they spend so much of their time decorating, practicing songs, creating crafts, etc. Just last week my toddler made a little stocking to hang on a mantle Jackie created and they spent time decorating a Christmas tree with colorful ornaments. My toddler cannot wait to tell me all about her day's experiences when I pick her up from school. Mary Lou and Jackie take pride in their facility and their professionalism. I'm not spending a lot of time on the cardio machines but was surprised to see modern machines with personal video screens, and do not seem to be overly crowded. I'm hoping to sneak in some racquetball at some point. It's not the "hip, young, beautiful people" kind of place but the membership is reasonable compared to other local pools.
