This tiny, private, church-sponsored preschool is nothing like what you might expect. We sent our two oldest here, and we plan on sending our two youngest as well. From the outside, it has the appearance of a 19th century one-room school house. But of course that's now what it is on the inside. There is a large activity room when you first enter (the Big Room), but the first floor also has an administrative office as well as two classrooms. The basement has been converted and has a storage area and two additional classrooms as well. And outside behind the school is a nice sized playground area that's perfect for kids of that age. The staff here is amazing. All of the teachers are certified, so they're trained and know what they're doing. They keep up to date on the latest trends and research that takes place in regards to preschool education methods, practices, and philosophies. And they're also just wonderful with the kids. I've heard stories where parents weren't all that pleased with a church-affiliated preschool because the teachers were basically church members either volunteering or helping out. Thankfully this was not the case for us. The education here is first rate and top quality. There are three different choices in regards to class time. Full week (five days), three days, or two days. And of course they're all half days so it's either a morning or afternoon session. There is no all day preschool. There are numerous activities that take place throughout the year that parents can come and enjoy, and there are a number of opportunities where parents can volunteer to help chaperone small little trips that classes take. When our two oldest started kindergarten, their teachers told my wife and I that they were so far ahead of the other students in their respective classes. And as smart as I know my kids to be, I also know that their time at the Village Preschool was a direct result of this as well. LeBlonde, a legend in the Queen City's machine tool industry. LeBlonde built his mansion in 1913. European heritage is prominent throughout the structure, such as lead peaked windows and a stone exterior. While some renovations have been needed, I was pleased to see most of the original home untouched and intact. LeBlonde lived in the house until his death in 1953. Afterwards, the property was willed to the Archdiocese and became St. Ursula Villa in the 1960s. St. Ursula Villa is a beautiful landmark rich in Cincinnati history. Since this is a private school, the most respectful time for viewing is on the weekends when classes are not in session.

My son was born a few months before Covid hit and so I was very nervous about his first preschool experience. The Gardner school made it so easy and enjoyable for him! I especially loved that all meals are included in tuition, and the teachers were helpful with potty training. This school is very clean and tidy, and I was very satisfied with the safety precautions they have in place (locked front doors, code required for check-in/out). My son loved the themed classrooms/hallways and the staff were so friendly and kind. My job situation changed soon after my son started at the school but the staff were very understanding and we were so sad to go.

We attended Goddard with our 2 boys - 3 and 1 and would give this school less than 1 star if…read moreallowed, as we would not recommend to any parent who wants their child in safe learning environment. It was a matter of days before our oldest came home with bite marks on several occasions, in addition to other injuries at the hands of other students. Most recently he was hit in the face that resulted in a swollen handprint on the side of his face, and kicked in the face during story time the very next day which split his lip open. Our youngest - 18 months at the time - was repeatedly bit in his classroom, leaving very defined and swollen bite marks, some of which broke the skin. He was scratched across his face and neck, and given a black eye by another child who hit him with a toy. Several bites and other injuries went unnoticed by teachers who had no idea our child was injured when we inquired about what had lead to the incidents. These incidents happened in the matter of 3 weeks. The administration of this school is defiant in their approach to ensuring the safety of kids in their classroom. We repeatedly asked for changes to be made to prevent our kids from getting hurt, only to be met with opposition and called liars by the assistant director Kaitlyn Japikse and owner Mark Reinhart. The teachers who assisted us were promptly reassigned to different rooms that were not of their choosing out of retaliation from the owner. Mark and his staff do not follow any disciplinary action plans, document the children who cause injury and refuse to remove kids from the room due to their belief it does not reinforce positive behaviors and violent behavior is "developmentally / age appropriate". Mark will also tell you to take your kids to a different school / disenroll you if you do not agree with their approach that severe injuries in their classrooms are developmentally appropriate and the result of normal childhood behavior. The disgraceful treatment of families by Mark goes against everything this school states they advocate for and we would not recommend this school to anyone.

We were so excited to start our boys at Goddard School. Until about 6 months in for our first and 3…read moremonths in with our second, we were asked to leave the school. Our childern were getting hurt almost daily. They were bit, hit, scratched by other students. Our youngest was only 18 months old and couldn't communicate, most of the bites were going unnoticed by the school and when asked about it, the teachers or administrators couldn't tell us what happened. Incident reports were not filed and the biting students parents were not notified. We were also told that the other parents wouldn't be told about the incident unless the skin was broken, because they didn't want that student to have a negative connotation with school. How does my child feel when they are afraid to go to school because they are getting hurt by those that are supposed to be their "friends"? Our last day there, my oldest was kicked in the face left with a busted lip during circle time because the other child tripped over my child's legs. And the aggressor was just left to continue this behavior because according to the administrator, these children do not have impulse control and are unable to understand their actions. Meanwhile they are potty training these 3-4 year olds? When asking for help and assistance time and time again, we were the ones that were asked to leave. The administration continually asked us for our suggestions on how to handle the situations and while we are not the professionals in early childhood education, recommended additional resources and were immediately fought with talks of budgets and how that's not possible. The owner offered to refund us our money so we left (granted we paid a fee to get on the waiting list for a year for this program) we were not refunded our fee, our refund was "prorated" in a way that benefited only the owner. The ratios for "student to teacher" is insane and leads to a chaotic, stressful environment for both the teachers and the students. The owner retaliates against any teacher (and parents) who feel differently than him. He moves teachers to other rooms they do not want to be in or suggests they leave. He has blocked us from the Facebook business page so we are not able to leave reviews there.

The teachers at GSCM work to offer individualized experiences for each student, meeting the child where he or she is at, and working with his or her interests to make learning exciting. Students experience cultural enrichment, as well as a deep understanding and love for the Catholic faith. Outdoor exploration, and a keen sense of a child's need for adventure in the natural world are just some of the key components that GSCM offers to those who attend. We could not be more pleased with Good Shepherd Catholic Montessori, not only as a school, but more like a second home for our children!

They take the faith formation seriously, but in the a way that kids respond to, understand, and love. We love how the Montessori method works with little boys (we have 5 of them!) instead of traditional schools that many times send the message of just be quiet and sit still.
