KHMC truly follows the philosophy of Maria Montessori and encourages children to talk through their conflicts and share the "peace rose," for example, rather than forcing an insincere apology, which preschoolers aren't developmentally ready for. The focus on letting kids have some autonomy also really fires up their curiosity about learning. I can't imagine a better start for my kids in their educational journey.

One Black male teacher was there for only a short time. He resigned due to the way the staff reacted to the black male children when they were not acting "perfect". The front office staff is extremely rude, with exception to those they "really" like. There is a noticeable difference in the communication/treatment toward those that receive county funding (vouchers). It is really disheartening that as an organization, there is a vast difference based on paying status. It should be about the children, giving them the foundation. Not on how the funds are being received by the parents.

The teachers are so loving and affectionate, yet maintain perfect order, discipline, and manners in the classroom. With Patti, Theresa, Gail, and Stacey's help, our son began reading at four years old and makes amazing progress every day. As importantly, he has learned to be a "solid citizen" towards his teachers, classmates, and family. The school and its setting on the hillside Villa Madonna campus are idyllic, and I feel such joy every morning when we arrive. Villa Madonna Montessori has made our son excited for school and eager to learn -- the greatest foundation we could imagine from his preschool and kindergarten education.

My son has only attended for two weeks, but so far we've been nothing but impressed!…read more About two months ago we reached out to schedule a meeting. Laurie told us all about the school and answered any questions. She gave us the opportunity to visit the classrooms and see how things run. My husband went to a Montessori school as a child, so he experienced a flood of happy memories. It was everything he dreamed of for our active little boy. We returned the next week with our little boy so he could join a class. The staff wanted to see how he fit in. Everything felt good, so we moved forward with enrollment. He's currently doing day care, but will do preschool this coming fall. Our plan is to do three full days a week (you can do full or half days, 3-5 days a week). To start the process of getting our son comfortable, they like to begin with five days. If possible, they like for one parent to stay with the child so they can leave early (probably a half day to start). This is allowing our son a smooth transition. Every child is different, so things can be adjusted depending on how they handle it. I look forward to posting again later once we've spent more time here and learn more. But we love this place so far!!

He gets to spend his weekdays in a very safe, regulated, educational environment where he can learn just as much as he socializes. As a Montessori school, it functions more like an educational institution than a daycare, which creates a perfect balance that is incredibly healthy for the children. We're going to continue to have our son attend through at least preschool -- and we're excited to see our expected daughter enrolled at an even earlier point.

We have been going to The Children's House for a 3 years and I cannot say enough good things about…read moreit. The teachers are wonderful, and the most patient people you have ever met. The Administrative Staff are always on hand and awesome. More than any of that, my kids LOVE it here. We had been to 2 other daycare places before The Children's House, and we were not satisfied with the care our kids were receiving at the other places. At The Children's House, they actually teach the kids, not just put them in a room to have "inside recess" all day. My kids come home with a sense of structure and organizational skills they crave. They put these skills into practice at home and often times ask for "jobs" to do around the house to help pick up or maybe help me put laundry away. The Children's House is set up like places in the real world too. For example, they eat in a cafeteria that is set up like a restaurant, they have a cinema room, etc. So my kids are learning how to behave when we are in public, and they are used to seeing these different places that may not be day-to-day for us. At the other places, it just seemed like managed chaos and it was reflecting in my kids behavior. We have had far fewer outbursts, temper tantrums, and melt downs. I believe it was because the other places were not structured with activities, lesson plans, and play time. At the other places, I felt as though the kids were left to make their own rules all day long and they would come home with that mentality. I highly recommend The Children's House if you are seeking to have your kid(s) in a learning environment. My preschooler can count to 100 by 5's, 10's and 20's. She is doing basic math (ex. 2+2+2=6), and is trying to phonetically read. She is only enrolled for 2 days a week and these are the results we are getting. To say I am impressed with this school is an understatement. Hat's off to The Children's House for all the dedication they put into the education of our next generation!

Jessie and Ami in the 3-6 class are wonderful, can't say enough good things about them. The 3-6 class typically has 20-25 students. The 6-9 and 9-12 classes are quite small, which can be a pro or con depending on what you're looking for, but the kids seem to be happy/thriving. If you are interested in traditional Montessori, give this place a look. Extras during the week include music, art, Spanish, Muse Machine (which is awesome), and phys-Ed (has included yoga, martial arts and dance). They have a playground, before/after school care, and a number of family and parent social events during the year. Communication with parents is good. If I have one criticism, it is that I wish they went outside more on some of the colder winter days, but I'm from a colder state so I may be biased.
