A culture of dismissiveness from leadership can trickle down and affect how staff members interact with parents and address concerns. This was just unacceptable. I asked for a meeting with both manager and assistant via email to which I was not answered she just spoke to me in person when I picked my daughter up. Seemed very jittery and brought up other things that did not pertain to the issue I was having. I did tell her how is it only my daughter coming home like this? I would hope if another parent had an issue like this that it would be addressed but was told it never happens so it was just my daughter. We visited during nap time and I remember soothing sounds being played and that's exactly what we would do at home for him to nap. This place just felt more calm and that spoke to me. It's close to home and has the home feel for my son. Then I couldn't believe how affordable compared to others. It has now been 6mos, our little one is now 3 and is thriving and I know Koala has everything to do with that. I can tell he enjoys his time there and is kept on a good, consistent routine. What I appreciate as well is the potty training. One day I get a message before he turned 3 that said ok Mom we're starting, and I don't think I could have done it without Koala as we attempted before. For example, when my son was in the 2-year-old class, he was experiencing frequent biting incidents where he was on the receiving end. The teachers were kind and listened to my concerns. They shared that while unacceptable, biting was a common form of expressing big feelings and also shared tools, phrases, and mitigation tactics that they are employing in the classroom. At home, we also worked with our son to help him express his need for space/quiet time and to read more books about sharing and taking turns. We saw continued improvement, and as he grew up, fewer incidents. Our daughter is now an 18-month-old and has a biting problem at home. We shared this with the teachers to make them aware, and they assured us that she has not bitten any of her friends. They have started reading books about keeping her hands to herself, and we work with her at home as well. I absolutely recommend the Wiggle Room to any mom.
