A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I had an issue with our newly bought dryer which reported issue with air flow. I reached out to a few air vent specialists on Yelp! Top Star Air Pros was the first company that reached out to us for a free estimate visit. A couple of days later, Ben and Jaime showed up to check on our dryer vent HVAC vent. Ben suggested that we only needed to clean up the dryer vent as our HVAC vent was pretty clean from his check up. Ben and Jaime proceeded to do their things on cleaning up dryer vent. The dryer then worked as expected but Ben heard a little cranking noise while the dryer was operating. He insisted on checking up the vent pole up in the attic. He discovered a piece of aluminum mesh that was inside the vent, which he later removed. My wife and I were very happy with Ben and Jaime's service and their price. They were both very polite and informative. They didn't push on adding additional service. On the price of vent cleaning, it was very competitive with other companies that gave their quotes over Yelp! Message. As a matter of fact, I think Top Star Air Pros' price was lower as well. I scheduled their complimentary check of my AC units for cleaning. The technician showed up at the time promised and called 30 min before arrival. The technicians, Pedro and Enrique, arrived with masks, gloves and shoe covers. Pedro explained the process before getting started. They checked out both units and provided honest feedback about the work that needs to be done. If this was someone else, they'd have pushed for getting both out units cleaned - Pedro was honest that everything was pretty clean except for some minor mold! They took care of that quickly and also volunteered to install my air filters (which I had handy). Not super impressed. I wanted full insulation removal and new insulation blown in. The kid that came out kept trying to talk me into just blowing in new insulation over top of the old insulation. He said it would be expensive to remove the old insulation, which was a question I didn't ask. The old insulation was nasty, having had various critters take up residence in the attic in the past. Anyhow, got their bid and he was right! The charge to remove the insulation was more than the charge to put in new insulation, which is absurd. I emailed them about it, but never heard back. The main issue is that they were pressing hard just to blow insulation over top of the old stuff. In response to the owner's comment... I think I am spot on. No disrespect intended, just facts of the situation, and my impressions. (I removed my conclusion at the end, to make the review less subjective.) Also, glad he found the bids they sent. Maybe he can reply to my email now. LOL! What he wrote here would have been great to see then, and I probably would not have written this review.
