I picked this daycare because one of my good friends is a DSS social worker who said clover hill is one of the best! their lack of violations speak for themselves. your children will be loved and well taken care of here.

The administration has always been quick to answer our questions and has done such a great job managing during COVID. They even coordinate and organize halloween, holiday and valentines parties with zoom dial in for the parents. I feel like even despite the challenges of COVID regulations they are making every effort for school to feel normal for kids and still provide the best experience for families. I am really impressed by their poise and level of service they continue to provide. The teachers are top notch and provide enriching activities and curriculum for our kids. The tenure is always very good. Most of the teachers are long time Goddard teachers. They are always available for parent teacher conferences very family and child oriented. We always feel our questions are answered with care and concern and feel very lucky to have found a school we trust to enrich our kids lives while we work!

I was torn about returning to work at all, and the only reason I think I made it in the beginning was the amazing teachers in the baby room, Miss Lisa and Miss Cara. You always worry that the teachers won't care about your baby, but I never felt like that with them. They were exceptionally helpful with at home ideas such as feeding solids, bottles, naps, etc and would always go the extra mile to break down my daughters day (how she did, if she didn't seem to feel quite right, etc) They were always smiling, interactive and working with the children on sitting, standing, reading, walking - as much as anyone can in a setting like this. In the next two rooms, 12-15 months and 15 months - 24 months, Ava also had amazing teachers in Miss Sara, Miss Michelle, and Miss Carol. I will be honest and say Ava also had one other teacher I did not care for, but that teacher left shortly after Ava moved to one of the rooms and I really believe 5/6 amazing teachers at any daycare is pretty good odds. Their turnover seems relatively low for a daycare setting (you always have some turn over, but many of the teachers I mentioned have been there for 3+ years, miss Lisa for over 10) They were always willing to work with my schedule as I transitioned from working full time to part time daycare. I really appreciated their motto that once you're family, you're always family and they really worked with us to keep my child at daycare part time. Sure, there were some menial cons (don't serve lunch at the school), 12-15 month old classroom is small, but to me it's much more important that the teachers love my child than small nuisances about any school. I can't speak to the classrooms above 2 years old, but if you're looking for a school for your little one, I highly recommend this Goddard.

Pam, the director, clearly cares deeply about the kids and makes every family feel welcome from day one. The teachers we've worked with have all been excellent: very professional, communicative, and organized, but they still keep things fun and playful for the kids. We came from another daycare in the area and can say with confidence that La Petite is a massive upgrade. In just a few weeks, we've seen marked improvements in our son's behavior and how he interacts with other kids. There is a strong emphasis on the classroom as a community, and it really shows--children seem to learn how to play well together, take turns, and be considerate classmates. The structure and expectations in the classroom feel age-appropriate but still set them up for success. I can very easily see our son being more than ready for kindergarten in a couple of years. They keep the kids busy in the best way -- every day our son is learning something new, with lots of hands-on activities and exploration. The app is also fantastic; we get tons of updates and photos throughout the day so we always feel connected to what he's doing. My only (very minor) gripe is the parking lot -- it's a bit small and can get chaotic during peak drop-off and pickup times. But honestly, that's a small trade-off for the level of care and education our son is getting. Overall, we're extremely happy we made the switch and highly recommend La Petite of Glen Allen to other families.

There were a few things I didn't like but in this day and age unfortunately it's hard to keep staff. A lot of their staff were extremely young and had opinions of how I should discipline my child. This was brought to the Director and Assistant Director and they were able to fix this problem and I was very appreciative of their help. Ms. Ashley the Director is very nice she cares about the children and it shows. Each child from when I've drop my child off gets a hug hug before going to their classroom. I would highly recommend Tuckaway West to anyone who love a small center setting and wants to feel more like they are in a home away from home setting.

As for my youngest, I am definitely one that is referenced as a "helicopter dad" by my friends but I can confidently say that I feel the infant teachers at Tuckaway are competent and caring which more then puts my mind at ease! The director at the Innsbrook location is very sweet and kind and the rest of the staff seem to be right on par with that attitude! I couldn't be happier with their service! We brought safety issues to the attention of the staff and directors multiple times. There were several occasions where we picked our son up and he had bruises or cuts that the teachers couldn't explain. At a minimum, once we pointed them out they should have been documented. The teacher would say she didn't see what happened. When I explained my concerns to a director, she said "That's just how the children play with each other". So there appeared to be a lack of concern for preventing or remedying the issue. Our son began to state that he didn't want to go to school. We didn't want our son to develop a negative perception of school or learning that could impact him later on. Primrose is very expensive, and for the money, parents should at least be assured that their children are safe. The last time I spoke to one of the staff members about the issue I said I wanted to take time to brainstorm and come up with potential solutions. I proposed volunteering in the classroom, but the idea was rejected. The rationale given was "state guidelines". At least one other parent was already volunteering; no other school we interviewed indicated that there were state guidelines that would prevent parents from volunteering. The secondary concern was our son's kindergarten readiness. If he was indifferent about attending and worried about whether another child was going to hit or harass him, he would be unable to focus. Also, although I think the balanced learning approach works for some children, it wasn't what our son needed to get him ready for kindergarten. Two other schools we interviewed have children our son's age reading and spelling three to five letter words. That wasn't happening at Primrose. For the reasons above, I can't recommend Primrose.

It is now March 2025 and it's still bothering me and I'm still mortified by what I saw and I need to warn parents. One random weekday I decided to pick my daughter up early so we can have a girl-date. I showed up without letting the teachers or anyone know, walked in and said I was picking my child up early to the front desk. They said that's fine and I went through the door (after scanning my card). What I saw was heartbreaking. "Class" was in session for the pre-pre-k (2-3yo I think) class which I had to walk past in order to reach my daughter's class. There are windows that stretch through the hallway so you can see in the classroom. Clearly they didn't see me. I saw the kids all sitting in a strange silence except one little curly haired black/mixed boy. He was clearly having a meltdown, crying with tears streaming down his face. The teacher visibly was yelling in his ear with so much anger in her eyes. I can tell she was threatening him, something scary. She looked so angry and the little boy looked so helpless. There was another staff member there who looked at the teacher and didn't say anything. I hesitantly kept watching and slowly walking past, the teacher did not look up and at this point she forcibly grabbed him by his arms and sat him down on the chair with the rest of the kids. The boy was still visibly crying. She was still in his ears visibly angry. I grabbed my daughter, her class was sitting together while the teacher paced around their table I guess quizzing them? She didn't smile when she saw me, she didn't look friendly. (They never did honestly) I wish I never enrolled her here. I pray that they never mistreated her, but based off the other comments I'm now thinking it's very likely. My daughter was also newly turned 4, and wearing pull-ups because she was having accidents. They told me she wasn't allowed to wear pull-ups. This place needs to be shut down. I wish anyone who is in search of a daycare center and is considering this one stays far away. They have a "cut-off" time to check in at 9am, they will not let you enter the classroom past this time. The food is garbage, oatmeal every day, no utensils for the older kids. The leaders don't care about your children, they just want your money. They try to find ways to send the children home early (based off a couple other parents I have spoken to). One of the staff members are very aggressive physically with the "more difficult" kids and when they don't listen or are having a hard time. I absolutely want you to be aware of this before considering enrollment

In summary we experienced inaccurate information from the director, an abscense of supervision in the classroom that resulted in injuries, a lack of updates in the daily portal, and an overall lack of parent/teacher communication. We expressed concerns with the lack of structure in the classroom and behavior issues among several kids (ours included). We were told on various occasions "The 2 year old room is chaos" and "The staff is overwhelmed." We were also told our child is copying the other kids and just going through a phase by a teacher's assistant when we would check in. After multiple kids were placed on "behavior plans" (ours included) we were told our child hasn't shown enough improvement in behavior and we will need to leave with a week's notice. The very next day our child was pushed to the ground, climbed on and scratched all over his neck and face by another child. We were told the incident "Got rough, and the other child is on a behavior plans and was sent home for the day". We are at a new daycare and seeing their day to day operation, I am so impressed by how the classroom operates calmly and smoothly throughout the day. There is proper supervision in the classroom and we have not had any behavior issues with our child or any other child at our new school/classroom. There was no structure, leadership, guidance & supervision in the 2 year old classroom at Bundle of Joy.
