My daughter was extremely well prepared for Kindergarten after attending their facility when she started just after she turned 1. She is still attending 7 years later and loves being there! My son was at Kidz Korner from three months old up until about a month before his second birthday. I am a first time mom so I didn't have any experience with daycares when I was looking for a place for my son. I do work in healthcare, specifically nursing homes, so I do know what to look for in terms of health and safety. Kidz Korner is a nice looking facility, the landscaping is kept up nicely and the toys are always put away neatly in the play yard. We were very happy with the care at first. Two of the teachers that they had in the infant room, Miss. Jill and Miss. Deb, were EXCELLENT!! I cannot say enough good things about them, really. They were very caring, attentive and friendly. They always had time to talk to a parent about any concerns and they were always so excited to share a milestone or an art project. You could tell that the infants had their undivided attention and were constantly engaged. Your child stays in the infant room until they turn one and then they are transitioned into the toddler room. The toddler room is where we started to notice a breakdown. It seemed like there was a revolving set of teachers in this room and none seemed to know what the other was doing. On several occasions, I'd pick my child up and he'd be in his spare set of clothes. When I would ask why, the response was usually "I don't know. It must have happened earlier in the day." Whenever I would drop off or pick up my child, I noticed that the teachers were not engaged with the kids at all. The kids would be running around playing and the teachers would be standing in a group talking. It went along fine for a while with a few bumps. There was a lice outbreak, several bouts of pink eye, an ant infestation in the toddler room, almost constant runny noses and coughs - but that is to be expected in this type of setting. I think they could have been much cleaner. We were assured by management on several occasions that the toys in the room were disinfected nightly but towards the end of our time at Kidz Korner, one of the teachers admitted that they did NOT disinfect the toys nightly - or hardly at all. At one point one of the teachers had a birthday party for her child, who was also in the toddler room, on a weekday. I thought that was very unprofessional because we then felt obligated to buy this child a present. It's not like we could "opt out" of the party because my child still had to go to daycare that day. We had started getting frequent (a couple of times a week) incident reports that our child was being bitten and reports that he was biting others. At one point he even came home with a bite mark on his cheek where you could clearly see both the upper and lower teeth marks. I didn't make a big deal over it because that's what kids do. They fight, shove, bite, have tantrums - it's the only way they are able to express their anger before they start talking. I didn't think anything of it until I was given a letter from the management staff in January. It stated: "This letter is to inform you that your child is being CONSIDERED for disenrollment due to biting. According to our records show that (child's name) has bit 6 times. Our policy is no more than three allowed." When I questioned the manager about this behavior and how it was being addressed, she told me they would separate the biter and give him or her a time out. I told her that he doesn't bite at home and she looked me straight in the eye and said: Oh, I'm sure he learned it here. So they were considering the disenrollment of my child for a bad habit that they admitted that he learned at their facility. That seemed very wrong to me. My husband and I immediately started looking at other facilities in the area, just in case. The next week I got a call in the AM from Kidz Korner saying that I had to come get my son because he bit someone. We went to get him and they told us that he couldn't come back. There was no discussion, no talk of other methods of discipline, nothing. They didn't even take us into a private area to discuss it. They announced his dismissal right out in the open, in front of other parents. It was so embarrassing that I wanted to cry. I asked how much time we had to find other placement for him and the manager said: "Oh no, he can't come back." When we got home I pulled out their policy book that we were given and there is no rule about biting. There is a very detailed discipline process for behaviors outlined step by step that they did not follow, in our case. Our child has been in his new daycare for a month and there has not been one report of biting. I now have no doubt that Kidz Korner was not properly monitoring the children, keeping them engaged and involved in activities. I would not recommend Kidz Korner. read more

WE LOVE Kidz Korner! We have taken our daughter there for a year. This is the only place we would ever take our kids. So professional, organized, and well maintained. They are always giving back to the community, organizing extra fun for the kids and their family's, and all around going above and beyond. Every person there is sweet, caring, thoughtful, and truly cares for the kids. Our daughter is EXCITED to go there everyday. They make everything fun and keep the kids engaged. We have seen tremendous strides in our daughters listening skills, following directions, and behavior. They have been so flexible of our crazy schedules. We have friends and family that come pick her up and I was so glad they check id's and double check everything. They take such personal care and time to know the kids that I have seen many teachers and staff outside of kids Korner and they recognize me know my child's name and talk about her personally. It makes it so much easier to leave your child when you walk into such an inviting place everyday. I go to work everyday so confident that our daughter is well cared for, happy, and loved. I tell everyone about Kidz Korner!! I BEG YOU TO TAKE NEGATIVE I YELP REVIEWS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. I like Yelp BUT unless you are a frequent helper your positive reviews don't show up. It's hard for a business owner or operations manager. I struggle with this at my job. I try to yelp NEGATIVE and positive HONEST reviews so that mine show up. I do not have a child, however, I pick up a friend's daughter every so often and I can't say enough good things about this place. As soon as I walk in I am greeted with a warm smile from the lady at the front desk. I'm not there every week but they somehow manage to know me by name and know exactly who I am there to pick up. When I walk back to get my little buddy, I walk into the room and she has the biggest smile on her face. On the ride home, she tells me all about her AMAZING day at school and how she can't wait to go back the next day. I have never met a kid that is so excited to go to school. I haven't met all of the staff but the staff members I have met are such very nice and caring people. The classroom are clean and when I say clean, I mean as clean as they can be with a bunch of small children running around, but that's not saying the classrooms are not sanitary. If I had a child, Kidz Korner would be my first choice and probably the only choice for me. They are doing such a wonderful job with teaching kids how to behave properly, as well as, teaching them basic skills. read more

I've found the owners, teachers and entire staff to be accomodating and extremely east to deal with. Everyone of them. My child attended when they first opened and i loved the place. They were new and very accomodating. The teacher in the toddler room was exceptional (she since has left.) My concerns began when my toddler entered the 2 year old classroom in which a MALE teacher was leading. My concern was not his sex but rather his attitude and teaching philospohy. I experienced complete laziness! My child is 100% potty trained and home and was BARELY ever taken to the bathroom. She peed in her diaper all day. Kids in that room were basically negelected with green snots running out their noses and fecal matter spread in random places. He didnt even write out the daily reports for each student individually. He wrote ONE and then PHOTOCOPIED them for each child. HOW LAZY!? When i expressed my concerns the staff/owners basically gave me the attitude of "if you dont like it then leave!" - They have since lost numerous teachers AND their cook. They have also been investigated by DCFS ( and this i know for a FACT). They have gotten too big for their britches and money hungry! I can only speak on my experience in the infant room. I signed my son up who is 8 1/2 months old. On day 1 when I dropped him off the teacher Monique gave me a hard time about not providing solids for lunch. I explained our choice to her, and that he gets solids at home. The next day I was harassed and talked very rudely to, because she did not approve of the way I was raising my child. I would call to check on him and repeatedly told he is emotional all because he wants to be held and they can't hold him, they have other kids. (I was told there was never more than 8 children in the room, and there was 3 teachers) I told them it was not like him, he is a happy baby. They said oh but he has never been in daycare. I thought maybe they were right. He was not bottle fed over the summer so I was not sure how he would do with a bottle, but was reassured daily he was doing great, yet he was only being given 2 bottles totaling 7oz all day (9hours) On Monday I walked in to my son screaming crying and Monique talking to a parent ignoring my son. When i tried to talk to her she was very rude and said he is crying because he is hungry because i wont send solids. I was supplying plenty of breastmilk, but it was not being given to him. She told me that is not food! I think the teachers need to be educated. This facility is not breastfeeding friendly. We were told the owner would call us. We never received a call. We called them the next day and they said they were siding with the teacher, that I am not being truthful. I have their handwritten daily sheets showing only 2 feedings a day. Some as late as 9:50 when he is dropped off at 7am sometimes still asleep. The day after we removed him, the care giver said he took 16oz. read more
