I'm a student and stuck here for 48 hours because they charged my cc as soon as I arrived ... you have a management controlled air conditioning and heating system- there's no way to cool:heat anything - the hotel solution-they delivered a fan and literally... a bucket of ICE water! Then trying to order from the restaurant I found a notice that said something about NOT DRINKING THE WATER and to either call or literally PAY for bottled water! You call, you will get a bucket of water with ice. Don't bother asking because I spoke with the owner after walking 1/4 a mile to buy bottled water ... doesn't really know why we can't drink the water-- or what's in it ---apparently that's just what people say in Ireland...seriously! I asked why and when they tested it and the OWNER said he did not know! I'm a Chef AND a doctor and this makes absolutely NO sense! Keep away from the hotel and drinking anything here!! Anyone who claims to own a hotel- and doesn't know everything about his own hotel history and potential water contamination should NOT be allowed to own a hotel! The county health department should take notice that there is NO notice anywhere except In an old folder, he joked about in our conversation, that I thought was for room service that says they strongly recommend NOT drinking the water! This should be on the advisory for the hotel upon booking a reservation-period! I am appalled that I had to walk to get water because anything bottled was for SALE - NOT for the guests! I was explicitly told this more than once. Stay away! This is NOT safe nor acceptable! I will post a follow up upon my departure! So many other issues- but these are the most serious that pose serious health implications ....

The beds ate massive and comfortable. The view is spectacular with every room having a sea view as the hotel, as the name suggests, is perched on the side of a cliff. Suffice to say we like it here. It's not cheap but then a real 5 star experience never is. Trying to think of a negative for, y'know, balance so the car park is a bit snug. That's it. That's all I've got. If you're looking for that special place to, say, pop the question look no further. We'll be back when we can afford it. Highly recommended.

There were horses, goats and pigs. Swans swimming in the ponds. What a treat. The doormen were beyond helpful, friendly and genuine. Check in was quick and smooth. I felt badly with just my backpack and Tesco plastic bag when asked if we needed assistance with our baggage :-) (NOTE-in the evening there is the most delicious alcohol and non alcoholic lemonade type drinks in the lobby) The room rates tied to my stay at The Loge in Pebble Beach. So luxurious. I never wanted to leave the room. The bathroom is what dreams are made of. I took full advantage of having a lovely tub bath as well. The toiletries are top tier and the lotion was amazing and smelled so nice. It was for sale but because I only had a carry on I could not purchase it. The hotel has a great gym and swimming pool. They do have hours so plan accordingly. Also, you will have to purchase a swimming cap (if you have one from home bring it). Also, the pool does have specific hours for children. There are plenty of lockers you can leave your items as well. I loved seeing everyone around the hotel walking in their robes coming to and from the gym/pool to their rooms. We enjoyed walking the grounds too. We only ate breakfast here and WOW it was amazing and filled us up for the day. The honey is scraped fright from an enormous cone on the buffet. Super friendly and attentive staff. Once again top notch and class. There is plenty of parking available. We did not dine at the hotel for dinner but walked to the near by affiliated pub for dinner. The hotel did offer to drive us there and pick us up but we declined. It is safe and we enjoyed the short walk. All about the hotel are unique pieces of artwork and sculptures. I loved the wooden animals. There is a great historic bar, reading room as well. Note-do not turn on the do not disturb light on your door if you go out at night if you want turn down bed service and a delicious chocolate. Well worth the money. Golfers will love the course as well. The sauna was great after our round.

I was driving comfortably until I got to the area. But I just could not find the hotel (or get to the way), so I stopped a couple of times to ask for directions. As always, Irish folks are so nice and kind to strangers! Finally I arrived at the hotel without causing any damage to the rental or myself. The assistant GM welcomed me and gave me nice upgrade to their biggest suite, thanks to my Starwood elite status. See the photos. Too bad I did not bring my army as I could have thrown a huge party at the balcony. The bathrooms were all covered/decorated by marble, the living room was spacious, etc. In the evening, they were providing complimentary winetasting at one of the in-house restaurants (The Cove), so I went. Another restaurant (Fota Restaurant) served breakfast which contained European style continental breakfast (incl fruit, cheese, cold cuts) and cooked eggs/traditional Irish breakfast. Their spa has a nice indoor swimming pool. There is Fota Island Golf Club nearby, so if you are keen to play golf, the hotel concierge is happy to book for you. I guess the only downside is there's nothing within walking distance, so you must have a car (or get a cab). But the historic island of Cobh is only a few minutes away where I spent relaxing afternoon and The Jameson Old Distillery is in Midleton which is less than 30min away.

Well where to begin, perhaps at the bottom of, what seems like, the mile long drive up to the…read morehotel. Watch out for the speed bumps!! The hotel/resort is set on an actual island. Attached to the hotel is the Forta Golf course, which I was told has hosted some major golf tournaments. There is a wildlife park, tennis courts, football training pitches and the island even has its own train station. There are several trails which you can walk or run around, if you are that way inclined. The island is very green and picturesque, the sun rise is particularly good if you have one of the front facing bedrooms. The bedrooms are very well appointed with all the bits you would expect, large bed, desk area, sofa chairs and ample wardrobe space if you have lots of clothes to store. The hotel staff could not do more for you. Yes I know it is the service industry but they all seemed genuinely happy to help, even with very very mundane things. Now I was there over a weekend and they had one wedding party on the Friday and one in the Saturday night, if you are staying on the 1st floor you will hear the music into the early hours, be warned. The food was ok, although we were stuck on the tournament menu which was not very good but looking at the food served to other guests it looked good. They have a very good bar with good bar staff, plenty of Irish whiskey's to sample. Our Irish counter parts were in there one night until 5am!! A good venue with high quality accommodation. Would definitely come back here.
