Today my daughter had dental surgery to have her wisdom teeth removed. Everything was fine until they told me she was done and asked me to move my car to the front to help her get in. She came out crying, and the staff said some people get emotional after anesthesia, which I understood. Once she was in the car, I asked if she would be getting any pain meds. The staff member said it should have been sent to the pharmacy and went inside to check while I buckled my daughter in. She came back and told me which pharmacy it was sent to. But no one had given me any pre-op instructions--no sheet, no explanation, nothing. They just handed me gauze, an ice pack, and a syringe. I ran back inside and asked the girl at the front desk if there were any instructions, and she said there wasn't anything. I didn't argue because my daughter was still under anesthesia and sitting in the car--I didn't want to risk her getting out or wandering into the street. I thought they'd at least go over the medications or instructions before we left, but nothing. Later, I called the office to ask about the post-op instructions, and of course no one answered. The answering service tried calling them too, and still no one picked up. So I took my daughter home, got her settled, and then had to drive 30 minutes back to the office just to ask for the instructions in person. When I got there, the girl at the front desk was ready to hand me a sheet of instructions like it was no big deal. I told her this was very inconvenient--I had to drive home, then back to the office, and then back home again, just because they didn't hand me one simple sheet of paper before we left. They made it very clear that I had to stay in the office the whole time, and I did. So why couldn't they do their job and make sure I had everything I needed before walking out the door? While I was explaining all this, the office manager, Whitney Mitchell, interrupted me to say she apologized. But I was already upset because maybe if she hadn't had her child in the office distracting her and keeping her from doing her job, this wouldn't have happened. Maybe if she had told the other girl to give me the instructions before I left, I wouldn't have had to drive all over Killeen trying to get basic information about my daughter's care. This was a stressful and frustrating experience that could have been completely avoided with a little communication and professionalism. Because of Whitney Mitchell's lack of professionalism and poor handling of this situation, our family will not be returning. Every time we've moved, we've made sure to stay with this dental company. But after today, we won't be doing that anymore. We also will not be referring this office location to other military families, which we've done in the past. This was an unnecessary and stressful experience that could have been easily avoided. read more

Unfortunately I had an awful experience today. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because of the front desk ladies and the lady who did my X-rays. They were great and so sweet. Today was my first time seeing a different hygienist from my usual Jesenika. This hygienist's name is Jennifer Townzen. If she walks into your room to do your cleaning, I highly recommend asking for a different person or ask to reschedule. My appointment was at 10:00. I arrived at 10:02 due to traffic on Fort Hood street. I was not seen by Jennifer until 10:45. I see the dentist every 6 months and I floss and brush my teeth every single day, without fail. I also purchased an electric tooth brush as recommended by Jesenika. Jennifer informed me she has been on leave for a while and today is her first day back. No problem, she needs a little patience getting back into the swing of things, I get that. She didn't remember her password to log into the system so she had another person log in. Jennifer then seemed so unsure of what she was doing, I was almost concerned she didn't actually work there. She changed her gloves and put germ-x on 3 times before even touching me, which yes, thank you for being aware of germs, but it honestly felt like she was stalling because she was nervous and didn't remember what to do. Then when the cleaning started: again, I floss and brush my teeth every day and who knows, maybe I'm not doing it properly, but I have never been in that much pain having my teeth cleaned. Even when I was a kid and never flossed, I didn't experience this amount of pain. She continuously poked my gums to the point my fingers went numb from gripping the seat so hard. My mouth was filled with blood and I can still taste the blood in my mouth hours later. My bib had blood on it and there was so much water dripping down my cheeks into my hair, to which she joked, "bet you didn't know you were coming to the dentist to take a shower." She would also pause the cleaning to talk to me about random things like her daughter, her husband, and about how she "talks to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" and how she doesn't remember mosquitos being on Noah's Ark. At first I was giving her the "uh-huh's" while she talked, but then I just completely stopped responding. She noticed I kept wincing in pain and said, "sorry, your gums are just so inflamed. How often do you floss?" And I told her "I do it everyday so I'm very surprised I'm having so much pain and blood right now" and she said "well I'm not saying you're terrible, because you're not, but maybe change the way you floss and start doing it multiple times a day." I was with her for an entire hour. My hands are still shaking from gripping the chair so hard in pain. Then Dr. Bell comes in. I've never seen him before, but I hope I do not see him again. He came in and looked at my x-rays and said, "your teeth are perfect. This is going to be boring." And then he spent 45 seconds looking at my teeth and said, "you have one pocket, but other than that, your teeth are very healthy and strong. So just make sure you floss and all that other stuff I'm supposed to tell you to do." He did not count how many millimeters my gums are to check for gingivitis and he did not say anything about my gums being inflamed like the hygienist said. It was just an awful experience. I requested the front desk ladies to put in my chart that I never have Jennifer again. I went ahead and scheduled another 6-month cleaning but I hope I can find a new dentist office before then. I hope the room I was in has cameras with audio recording because I'm not exaggerating this story at all. read more

Run Run Run!!!! Whitney at the front desk is ALWAYS very rude. In my few years of going there not one time has she been pleasant. It is a very stressful environment and my blood pressure is always elevated when they take my blood pressure. Due to minimal bone loss in one small area @ the age of 62 might I add, they drew up this very expensive deep cleaning plan where my out-of-pocket was over $600. Keeping in mind that my insurance covers everything and the most I've ever paid was $12 and that's not all the time. They refused to do my preventative 6 month cleaning the first visit so I scheduled it again three months later. The dentist came in and did a quick exam at my gum and said it was the same as what the hygienist said on your prior visit and that I needed to get the deep cleaning done. I said so you're telling me that you're diagnosing me with periodontal disease (which was the 1st time hearing that), but you're not gonna do the basic preventative cleaning? The Dentist said no. I said that's all I needed to hear, and I told her that I will be finding another dentist. I will never step foot in that office again and definitely will not be referring anyone! read more

From staff to the modern equipment to the cleanliness and overall comfort of this office, it's all very good. Special note goes to Brianna who did my deep cleaning/irrigation/laser treatment for gingivitis and early stages of periodontal disease. I was anxious the days leading up to my appointment but she has a very calming and thorough and professional manner about her that puts a person at ease immediately. She explained everything every step of the way; excellent! And that process went quicker than I'd expected. Dr. Huang as well as Front desk ladies (so sorry I don't remember names) are attentive and kind and professional. Tavarus was funny and sweet. Only downside is that prices are a bit high, but it's understandable. read more

Called this office to seek an oral surgeon. Sent over all needed documentation. Called me literally a day before surgery operations when someone canceled. Basically treated me as if I wasn't a priority. They never reached out to my main dentist, Who referred me. It's now may and I still have no oral surgery with a severally exposed wisdom tooth opening. Luckily I found a place that treats their customers with high priority! They charged me 3,000 dollars for work done when it should have only been 1,000 and they're refusing to reimburse me. I have been trying to fix this issue for over 3 months and I still have yet to be reimbursed. They do not care about their patients. I have been lied to over and over with promises that "I will receive a little reimbursement of 300 dollars" when I should have gotten over 2k. They avoid my calls to fix the issue and when I finally get a hold of them, they lie to me. Please, save yourself the heartache. Do not go to this office. I am heartbroken I won't get to be treated by Dr. Knott and staff, but the front desk folk have no problems with taking advantage of vulnerable folks and bleeding them dry of money. read more

This has been the worst office I've been to yet. It was supposed to be for periodontal procedure. I did not check to see if the dentist was going to be there more than once a month. With that being said, we could not get together at times either he couldn't make it, or I couldn't make it. I've been paying for it and now after seven months their contacting me telling me that my insurance didn't approve it. Why didn't they tell me this before. This has been horrible. The worst time I've ever had and I'm 70 years old. Like I can afford a $4000 bill that says pay now. Please do not go to this place unless you're looking for trouble. read more

It's been over a month and I never did receive a call from anyone as promised...until today. I received a call from the collections agency saying they are trying to collect my "due balance" for Killeen Modern Dentistry. I seriously regret ever coming to these lying, fraudulent people. When I called for the 5th time today to inquire about the balance, the lady in billing had the nerve to tell me that they've sent notifications and nobody ever heard from me, which is a blatant lie because as I stated in my first review, I called at least 4 times in 2 months only to be told that a supervisor or someone from KMD would give me a call back, I was told the same thing again today. This company is the worst, they make a mistake with a bill and try to make the customer pay for it and then they avoid you until its time to send it to collections. No worries, I'll just ask my insurance company for a written statement that KMD never sent the bill to them and get the bill disputed that way, I shouldn't have to do all that but it is what it is, I refuse to pay for someone else's mistake. Overall, I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. STAY AWAY! There are plenty of other professional and honest dental offices in Killeen who will not try to scam you. read more

I have not been to a dentist for over 30 years. I finally decided today to go in and get my teeth cleaned. After all, I'm paying for it. My two front lower teeth broke, 20 years ago on the tops of each one. One of my molars on the top left side chipped out and broke about 2.5 years ago. I pay for dental insurance but don't bother, my wife goes in for regular visits. I decided maybe it was time. Not because I have bad teeth. Because I'm ripping myself off instead of letting this office do it. From the moment I sat down and started the x-rays, there were about 25 x-rays taken. To the gum measuring for checking to see if my gums were receding, I was told on a scale of 1-10, you want lower numbers, that is good. My measured numbers varied between 2-3 with the rare odd 4. To my doctor's conversation about treatments based on what she could do for me, starting today. I was told that, "We like to see those numbers go down for your gums to prevent bacteria to the bone. Therefore laser treatment and some sort of anti-bacterial irrigation wash was recommended once a month for three months at an average of $1500 a pop, $500 of that was my co-pay. Then there was the two root canals on teeth that "may develop" an infection. "We can start on those today". The two crowns that go with that. You'll have to come back for each of those services The option for the super D Dooper crown versus the not so super crown, who wants that? The way I understood it, "We can start today, it will take between 2-4 hours, then you come back for the laser treatments, three irrigations, and the root canals, fillings, flouride varnish ($147) and all the fixings. Well, after the insurance and $3854.60 discount, they would collect $12, 464.00 and I only had to be out of pocket $8,609.40. So, instead of saying, "Yes, lets do this!" I said, "Can I have a printed breakdown of cost so I can take it home and look it over?" After I looked it over, I Googled Dentistry Scams. If I had a checklist for what I found, Killeen Modern Dentistry would have had a check on over half of it to include over breaking down services into multiple visits to maximize insurance payments, taking too many x-rays for billing insurance companies, selling me unnecessary gum treatments, unnecessary root canals and crowns along with failing to put a filler over my broken teeth. They wanted to do all this starting today so I'd be damaged and committed to finishing. From start to finish, it was all about services they would do for me. I was in there almost two hours and they never cleaned my teeth. They didn't find any issue with my personal care that I chose to do for the last 30 years. They didn't even mention my two broken teeth in the front. It was all about sales. Google Dental Fraud and Scams before you go to any dentist so that when these things start coming up, you don't get bullied into care you don't need. I would give half a star but the technicians, despite working on the up sale, I call it making the Dentist boat payment, the technicians were polite. read more

I wish I could give no stars. I bullied and pushed into a root canal that I didn't want or need, i needed a filling and nothing more, I told them I didn't want it and the dentistpushed and pushed and billied me into it. And I have had nothing but pain in that tooth since, a little over 2 years. When I would tell the dentist my tooth hurt, I was told it's normal and I'll get used to it. It's to the point I can't eat or close my mouth without so much pain. My whole jaw hurts. I go in to beg them to fix the mistake made by one of their providers. I was told she doesn't work here and we will leave the past in the past. How can I do that when I'm living with the very real pain and trauma every day from the tooth. They told me to fix it it will cost me over $1000, to pull the tooth, do a graph in the bone cavity from the pulled tooth to stablize the structure of the jaw and surrounding teeth, laughing gas and numbing shots. And in the near future I will need an implant to keep the structure of the jaw and surrounding teeth. All over a procedure I didn't want or need but was forced into getting. How can I trust I won't be in a spot that is worse than this after they are done? read more

That being said, the entire dental team at Killeen Modem Dentistry are amazing; they really do care about their patients. Beyond their efforts to attend to my dental needs with a sincere effort to make the experience as painless as possible, they are equally concerned with reducing my stress and anxiety. They are always professional, but also take the time to interact socially in a positive and joyful way, which has a calming effect and is an assurance that I am not just a number; I am an individual who they truly care about as a person, not just as a patient. Kudos to a team of staff who clearly enjoy working together from check-in to check-out to ensure my experience is as good as any trip to the dentist can be. Everyone here is so nice and helpful, had to get a root canal and the doctor explained everything really well, and none of the process was painful, everything painless. What a terrible first impression. I went to KMD on Wednesday 9/22. My appointment time was at 1 PM. I got there at 12:45 as requested to get my paperwork done and check in as I was a new patient. I got checked in and sat down and waited for my appointment. There was only one other person in the waiting room. I saw 3 people check out while I waited. Finally at 1:40 I got called back. I got my X-rays done and the lady that did them was very sweet and did a great job. By 1:50 she took me to my room for the appointment. She said to me " it will be just a few minutes and someone will be with you" I said ok that's fine. I was already a little frustrated that it was 1:50 and I hadn't been seen by the dentist. But I was polite and waited.... And waited... and waited. Not one person came to check in on me, not one person said "hey the dentist is running behind on another treatment", not on person said anything to me. Finally at 2:40 I got up and went to the receptionist desks which was unoccupied. There were 4 people in the waiting room by now. I went and found some help. I told the lady I could not wait any longer as it was 2:40, my appointment was at 1 and I had YET to see the dentist. I had to go pick up my son from the sitter and go get my daughter from school. The office manager apologized for the trouble. She said she would speak to the dentist and call me by COB that day. Well it's now 9/25 and I haven't heard back from them. I needed to get established to see a periodontist, but, I guess I'll have to go somewhere else. I would not recommend this place, unless you have plenty of time to wait. read more

I am instantly regretting it because I needed fillings and left with my teeth hurting even after the anesthesia wore off. They take walk in and emergencies however I waited for an appt for days. In pain the entire time. Finally went to be seen yesterday. I was there almost 2 1/2 hours and spent maybe 15 mins total with the dentist. Dr. Keller did not listen to me when I told her I was in pain. When I explained my pain landed me in the urgent care days before and the meds given there were not helpful she did not say a word. I did tell her about antibiotics that were given to me as well again she did not comment. It wasn't until the office manager came in and I was in tears from the pain that she asked me if I was hurting. I then waited again for Dr.Keller to come back in and I had to ask her if I continue antibiotics or not. She didnt give me any advice on it prior. When telling them about my pain they were quick to bring up motrin and Tylenol together work just as well as any opioid. I would not know because I have never taken anything stronger than Motrin 800 however they made me feel like I was a drug addict begging for pills. When all I wanted was something to make the pain stop. My appt to actually fix what is wrong isn't until the 21st. She gave me a prescription for a 4 day supply until my appt which is 10 days away. I'll be stretching them out to last me. Better yet I'm going to start calling around and pray another dentist will take me and my pain seriously. All I want is to stop hurting. I'm not just looking for pills and that's exactly how they made me feel here. read more
