You will find a Kilometre Zero marker in many countries - in Paris it has two distinct purposes: to mark the official centre of the city; and to be the point from which all France's highways and roads are measured from.
It's located about 50ft outside Notre-Dame Cathedral - directly opposite the central door of the 3 main entrances.
If the square is busy, look for a group of tourists all looking down - I bet that's what they're looking at!
