Kim Le is truly a magical heart healer. I worked with Kim for 3 months and in the short 3 months time, she made a lasting impact on my life. What Kim was able to achieve in a short period of time was absolutely mind blowing and nothing short of a miracle! Warning: written by a recovering type A personality (hint: that's me) I feel like I'm in my "come to jesus" phase. But not in a creepy religious way. Instead, I think that I've just finished my "sex-in-the-city/man-eating/independent women (thank you Destiny's Child for such a funfacular theme song)" phase, so now I'm on a path that actually includes self-awareness and self-growth. Amazing I know. It only took me 30 fucking years. And as I write things like "self-growth," I still think that that shit sounds so damn douchey. But I guess a process is a process and it must involve stages of some sort, right? So now, I'm working on just letting thoughts like that--self-judging thoughts--go. Just fucking let go, right? I don't know if it's that easy. I mean, you know that mechanism where one thought or one conversation or one minute, insignificant interaction somehow propels you onto that self-judgment train? Whatever that event is, it triggers feelings from some other time--like the dynamic that began when you were 5 and were constantly seeking approval from your dad or the one that began when you were 14 and you were struggling with establishing respect boundaries with your sister--and once that dynamic has been triggered, you can't stop the onslaught of fucked up guilt, doubt, "pick your feeling" that you've stored up and continue to torture yourself with--even though you are a grown up person. Or maybe that's just me. (but I kinda doubt it) For me, it's a feeling of self-judgment. I don't know why that is my poison of choice, but I'm learning about it and once in a while I just need some help in letting it go. My "independent-women-self" would have skipped the self-awareness and letting go parts and gone straight to the "fuck that shit, I'm fucking fabulous and watch me fucking prove it by drinking 5 million vodka sodas and making out with this random guy on the dance floor of the club that I didn't have to pay a cover to get into cuz remember I'm fucking fabulous" part. Instead of the knee-jerk party-girl reaction, I now try other things. And most times, I can successfully let go of whatever the triggering thought is and actually live in the present moment...but other times, I need a little help. So, I go to see Kim at the Nurturing Spa for Wellness. I reconnected with Kim recently because I had an experience at work that catapulted me onto that self-judgment train and I just couldn't fucking get off of it, couldn't let go. I called Kim, seemingly unexpectedly and after almost 2 years of no contact with her. For whatever reason she "knew" I would be contacting her and was, coincidentally or not, available at that moment for a massage. And a massage from Kim is a unique experience. She's not freakishly strong and agile and won't rock your body with crazy massage techniques. Her gift instead lies in that she can see energy and has learned how to help people manipulate their own energy through guided meditation and the power of intention. Basically the first bit of the massage is focused on manipulating your energy blocks, getting your qi flowing again. And I can't really say how she accomplishes this result, but I am sure that it's different for every person. For me, and with this specific experience, she guided me through a series of memory exercises in order to confront certain dynamics in my past. But she doesn't psychoanalyze you. It doesn't feel invasive. Instead, she simply helps you find whatever lesson you need to rediscover and articulate to your present self. And once your energy is stabilized and flowing again, she then focuses on sort of rehabilitating your meridians through light massage. Again, maybe this result and her techniques were just my experience. I dunno. But I do know that I was able to let go of the triggering event and, who knows? Maybe my relearned lesson will actually stick this time. Kim does plenty of other things, too. I'm looking forward to a Singing Bowl Meditation session but haven't worked out my schedule to experience it yet...do I sense an edit to this review in my future? Perhaps. But I can't be concerned with that now because that's ...not now. I only wish I could give more stars to this amazing healer. I agree with everything that's been posted for this "spa." Nothing has been exaggerated. You won't be greeted by an incense burning ex-hippie playing Fleetwood Mac records. Kim Le is straightforward and secure in her gifts. She has a gentle but firm manner that invites confidence in her skills and insights. I originally called Kim because I'd awakened with horrible ringing in my left ear--the culmination of ear infections which were healing. Being a Reiki III practitioner, I worked it down myself, but thought perhaps an ear coning might be in order. After reading about this spa on Yelp and looking at her pleasant website, I called to make an appointment. Kim suggested that the coning might not be right since the ears may not be healed yet, and further discussion revealed that I was stressed to the max and in crisis, so she offered her "signature" Healing Touch Therapy (a combo of healing touch, energy healing, sound healing and intuitive coaching). I arrived in pieces. Exhausted, tense, fearful. Kim sat and talked with me before the actual session. She not only created a safe place for me to air my feelings, but made astute observations as to what was going on with me spiritually, mentally and emotionally. It was like talking with a trusted friend whom I'd known all my life. Then she took me into a clean, softly lit room where I lay fully clothed between sheets on a heated massage table while she worked on me using several modalities. Her manner was gentle and compassionate. When I had released what needed to be released, we both knew it. I walked in looking puffy and walked out looking younger & healthier. Its so funny as I read the previous reviews for this special place. It seems we all went in for our typical Spa fixes (massage, reflexology, etc) and came out with a completely different, yet better, experience. I walked in to NSW in desperate need of ear candling. For those of you not familiar with this absurd looking technique, it is essentially ear wax removal done in such a way that you look more like a street performer with fire coming out of your ears than you do a relaxed spa client. As I walked in, I couldn't help but notice the kindness that emanated from the owner, Kim Le. Kim is quite the demur person. She is perhaps no more than 5 feet tall, yet her peacefulness towers over her. She brings me through her tranquil store to a comfortable room with a heated massage table. I will never be able to have a massage without the luxury of a heated table. Forget about hot rocks - I want a hot table! Anywho...I'm going off on a tangent here. The candling was a success and ear wax be gone. Kim also provided me with "Healing Touch Therapy" which better allows the movement of energy through your body. But it was the conversation that ensued after the ear wax removal (now I could hear her!) that was more valuable. I noticed within myself a crazy feeling of peacefulness. All worries....like the ear wax...gone. Just in the moment, appreciating this wonderful person who was just bestowed on me. So as if the experience was dreamlike, I decided to see if the peacefulness was just in my head or real (however real is defined...not sure). So I brought along my best furry, friend (a little pooch) who suffers from nerve wracking obsessive compulsive disorder. She is something akin to "must find ball NOW, need to go outside NOW, need treat NOW". Kona walked right in, lied down and exhibited not so much as a whimper. So the sense of peacefulness, kindness & love that we all often look for, is in this little shop on Lombard Street. It is the equivalent of Pandoras Box for all things that are good. There is hope for you! I felt totally helpless when I went to visit Kim when my work had become crazy overwhelming and I was not in a happy place, carrying a lot of negativity and walking around unbalanced. Not being quite sure what assistance I needed to move my life forward, and to cure my insomnia, I stumbled upon Kim's website several times over several months and finally chose to meet with Kim. I went there with my partner and son for a singing bowl session, and was definitely intrigued. As Kim told me on the telephone before we met, I went in with an open mind and no expectations. I had being trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years. After doing all the medical tests and with everything clear, it was getting harder and harder to deal with the disappointment each and every month of not conceiving. I found Kim through a Groupon deal for a Singing Bowls Healing Session. With a love for music and prior experience with sound healing, I was intrigued. She has a very special gift for healing with some wonderful instruments. I had just left my job of many years and was feeling burnt out, desperately in need of some TLC. When I arrived at the spa, out of breath from biking to Lombard Street, Kim greeted me calmly and said "Welcome Home". Immediately, I felt more at peace, as she invited me to sit with the small group to receive the healing. She explained the process, asking if we knew about chakras. At times it felt as though she was speaking directly to me, talking about trusting the universe in times of transition. We sat in meditation while she played each large crystal singing bowl. I could feel the vibrations moving through my body as she moved up the scale. Each bowl corresponds with the energy centers of your body, producing an incredible experience. I left feeling renewed and hopeful. Six months later, I got back in touch with Kim, as I have been trying to manifest the next step in my career. My 1st visit was on 11/11/11 for the Sound Healing which was amazing. Kim makes intense sound with bowls, I was very resistant at first but I was invited my my unborn father. It was a wonderful experience. My 2nd visit was on on 12/11/11 for the Healing Relationship workshop. It helped me to better understand the concept of being loving, compassionate & caring. Kim provided a lot of info on how to manage & how to react. Today was my 3rd visit with Kim. For anyone who is seeking a peace of mind and body, I highly recommend seeing Mrs. Le. She is an amazing woman, one who really listens and who is very comforting. As a nursing student, getting through my last semester in college was the toughest yet. I stressed so much about my exit exam for nursing, that I needed to pass in order to graduate. We had three chances to take the exam. Despite the hours and hours of studying, I was not able to pass the first two times. My last chance to take the exam was two weeks before graduation. So the day before the test, I went to see Mrs. Le. She definitely helped me to relax, to let go of my worries, and to stay positive for the test. In the things you do, I was taught to set the intent and allow it to follow through. After seeing her that day, I felt so calm and confident.
