Very modern and sleek setting with excellent service. Fresh food and we enjoyed our choices very much. The client base was very diverse and included families. Only downside is like so many modern restaurants it's VERY LOUD! I look forward to a time when restaurants install sound dampening so so conversation is possible. I think Yelp! should include a "noise" rating and like most modern places, this one would rate LOUD. read more

Went to Kimono last night for dinner here in Quebec. This was a pleasant find. The sushi was very fresh and delicious. Had probably the best seaweed salad I've ever had here. The unagi was absolutely delicious!!! Had some veggie tempura as well as Tuna tataki. Nice cold Sapporo on tap and a nice selection of sake. Have to say it was over all satisfying. Went there on a Saturday afternoon at 5:45 and they refused to let us order sushi as the chefs were too busy. I get it but still was very disappointed especially since it was very early in the evening... We ordered teriyaki shrimp and calamari instead. Shrimp plate was bland and shrimp size was small. Calamari appetizer was better. The sushi that others were eating looked delicious. Reserve ahead of time if you want to each anything raw. Enjoy! read more

Took my special lady here for her b-day... Good ambiance, streamlined menu, and very fresh sushi. We got lucky and were seated at a table with giant lounge chairs. This would probably get five stars if the parking was free instead of discounted, and if we had been given a complete menu to pick from. But we did leave happy with what we had. read more

Please excuse the writing in English ... my French is weak. l live on Vancouver lsland, BC and was visiting family in Quebec City last week. For a big treat, l paid for the sushi supper for four. lt was not inexpensive. The food was beautiful, but l'm writing to say the menu is a BIG FAKE. l feel CHEATED to find many items with salmon, and all the salmon FARMED SALMON! That's not salmon! Salmon is a wild fish and we have five species native to our rivers, not one of which is Atlantic salmon. The farmed salmon are Atlantic salmon raised here in open net pens, small enclosures which prohibit the formation of proper muscle, hence the flabby texture. These poor fish are fed diets including antibiotics and growth hormones, and they host sea lice. The lice in the farms do not die off in the winter in the natural way, so the smolts (salmon juveniles) heading out to sea to mature become infested with lice too, weakening them for their years at sea and their eventual up-river trip to spawn. The zone under a fish farm is an absolute dead zone, no sea life whatsoever. There are many pressures on wild salmon, once enormously abundant on the coast. Factory fish farms are lethal to native stocks and they need to be out of the ocean and onto the land as is done elsewhere in the world. The meat is cheap and therefor an attractive option, but it should always be clearly labeled Sorry to rant on like this, but l was really disappointed to have farmed Atlantic salmon served by everyone's favourite sushi bar. read more

If you are really hungry don't go there. It took more than one hour to get our food. The Taste was OK but if you like true sushi this is not the place. Be aware that the restaurant have a take away service and it looks like they give priority to it. When we asked the waitress if it was normal for some sushi to take so long to be served, the answer was Yes. Really??? For some sushi more than One hour???. read more

Nice vibe. Busy and popular. We ordered the maki combo, a chef's choice platter of 24 pieces of various rolls. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the platter was salmon tartare. Several variations of rolls, but mostly GROUND raw salmon. Not what we had in mind. Recommend you order specifically rather that get a chef's choice of all the same thing. read more

Great ambiance if you have lots of time and are maybe celebrating a special occasion. You'll have plenty to time to sit and talk. If you're hungry, you're better off ordering takeout tho. Our server was excellent and warned us that it takes an hour to get your meal. We shared a seaweed salad, which came out in 10 or so minutes and an hour later got to eat the rest of our dinner! In the meantime, we watched lots and lots of take out come and go. The food: they like to put tempura crumbles in everything (including the seaweed salad!), which adds a greasy yet crispy filler - subtle and yucky. Avoid the Maki surprise (spoiler alert): it's a hockey puck shaped pile of rice topped with a hockey puck shaped pile of the typical 2-days-old ground fish mayo medley. Impossible to dip into wasabi-soy, which is one of my favorite things about sushi. Oh, and of course the ground fish has tempura crumbles throughout. At $17 for the tuna, it was a complete waste of money. The 6-piece rolls we ordered were excellent. While my vegetarian partner was fine with a lighter dinner, she was surprised at the lack of vegetarian rolls compared to other sushi establishments we've experienced. We really wanted to rate this place higher, but have truly had better sushi. read more

This is my favorite sushi place in Québec city!! We went to the sushi bar and I really recommend it. The cooks are nice and you can see how talented and dedicated they are to prepare the food. We had the 25 pieces chefs choice and it was incredible. The pieces are HUGE. It's really worth the price. Also, if you want to have the best fried calamari in Québec, it's also there :) read more

Walked in at 5:15 just after the place opened at 5 and the place was virtually empty, 2 or 3 tables were taken. We asked for a table for 2 and the hostess first asked if we have a reservation, which we didn't, then she walked away for a moment. When she came back she let us know she found a spot for us at the sushi bar, but we could only have 2 hours because after that there is a reservation there. Oh yeah, and we can only order the maki combo or the sushi combo because otherwise if we have a big order there will not be enough time to prepare it. Once we heard we were only being given 2 options we said no thank you and turned around and walked out. I've never been to a restaurant where I was told what I can and can't order...Also never knew it takes over two hours to prepare sushi. Needless to say we won't be coming back here with that kind of service. read more

Quality Sushi in good portions at great price with the nicest wait staff. The maki and nigiri themselves are not $$$ pricey. If you come only for sushi, you can leave with a full stomach with under $30 per person easily. Skip the other tourist traps in Quebec City and come here for sushi. read more

Good sushi... waited over an hour for the sushi. When brought up to the waiter, he pull out a paper and tells me..'no sir, you it has been 51minutes'! Who does this? Sushi finally comes 10 minutes later, and the wrong plate is brought to our table. Wait another 15 minutes only to be brought a platter that was put together half fast, by a now arrogant waiter. When the waiter was not happy with his tip at the end, he tells me that if I am not happy, I can just go talk to his manager. Which of course I do end up doing. She agrees with me that my experience was sub par, but at no time apologizes or tries to fix the situation. Don't waste your time, there are other places out there. read more

The service was incredibly slow. Boy ... almost an hour and a half of wait for the order. The quality of sushi is okay, maybe average, nothing to write home about. I mean, every sushi place in Ontario serves an equal of better quality sushi for 30% less the price. The staff is all young students, kind of arrogant and inefficient.
