There aren't really any interesting displays to highlight the stock, and the distinctly unwelcoming vibe I get doesn't encourage me to browse. The "coffee bar" is a laugh, and since they have it there, they don't let people bring in their Starbucks or whatever while they look around. They try to be "renaissance" by having music events and classes and suchlike, but they should probably just take a good hard look at their store and their selection and focus on being a good used bookstore.

Their prices are extremely reasonable for all their products. The staff are really caring people that go above and beyond for customer service and this store needs our support as their lease has gone up and need all the help they can get as really good stores are getting harder to find.

The computer said they had seven in store. I looked in the usual places and then, I found a table of paperback classics. Not there. The woman running the registers calls someone for me to help me out. And boy! Does she help. She goes to where she thought it would be. Not there. She uses the computer so she can see what I had seen and takes me to a little table of hardback classics and there it was. It probably took 10-15 minutes to track down a copy but not once did she act like it was a waste of time. When I went to pay, the woman at register even asked if we were able to find the book. I've been to this location loads of times, and never had a bad experience, but yesterday's experience was just deserving of a review!

We were here looking for a book that contains old recipes but unfortunately we were not able to find it. I feel like the selection is tailored to school kids/ university kids. I have been a loyal customer to Artel for years and have always enjoyed browsing (and buying) their…read moreselections until today. Last week I bought a set of funky designed index cards as I didn't have enough leftover from last year. In fact, they didn't have them out front so Micky (Asian lady) went to the back and brought them out for me. When I opened them up they were blank, not lined. So I went to return them today and was told (by Micky) that since they were opened, they can't be returned. Fair enough, but, I was absolutely shocked at how I was spoken to and the tone in her voice. She basically said that is was entirely my fault and I should have read the package before opening them up. No smile, nothing. She said that they are a small business and how will they ever make money? Well, sorry to tell you but small businesses make their money by loyal customers that are spoken to properly. I know that I should have read the package beforehand but seriously... to be spoken to in such a manner? Not a very kind lady. I don't know how they are still in business. After several years (20 yrs of teaching) and shopping here, I will never go here again. Take your money elsewhere teachers.

This originally is the Ages 3+ store located in Metro Town. This store is truly run by geeks for geeks! Catching up on your comics? Trying to find missing copies of your comic? This is the place to find it! It is a nice sizable store as well because it has all the comics that a geek needs. It has figurines, and vinyl toys as well! They have a decent collection of Magic Cards, and Yugioh Cards as well for those Table Top geeks! They also have a bunch of D&D products and a large selection of board games. They have tables and chairs for geeks to sit and chill and play a game after purchasing the product. Or to read a comic! The store is literally a place to hang and chill! I wish they had more local events catering to the geeks, but they are increasing as a community which is very appealing! I come here to hang out when I have the time and to grab my comics!

I'm visiting from Hawaii, and there are ZERO stores selling retro video games besides the thrift shops and buy/sell bookstores where you only hope someone donates or sells their games, which is very rare, and hope they're not incredibly overpriced, which is often. Nintendo NES games is what I'm collecting at the moment. I had a pretty big collection when I was a kid, and recently felt like expanding it. Luckily, Vancouver has a couple of these stores, and Gamedeals Video Games has TONS of NES games!!! Getting to this store located in New Westminster from Downtown Vancouver was a journey, but worth it. Coming into this store brought back so many memories when I used to go to video game stores almost every week 20 years ago. It was pretty much the exact same thing! Not only was there video games, there were also toys, board games, and other awesome things. Everything was very organized by section and in alphabetical order. I spent a good hour here just browsing and selecting my games. For the NES games, they were only loose games or with the box. No dust sleeves or instruction booklets for the loose games for some reason. It was hard not to buy every game that I don't have, but I only bought the ones that were priced below market value and in good condition. In the end, I came out with 8 games. I definitely would've bought more if I stayed longer! But I need to safely bring them all home! I was looking for rare games, which they had a few, but way, way, overpriced. Overall, a nice, nostalgic experience. An excellent store with games and accessories for every game console since the Atari. The staff wasn't exactly the friendly, talkative, super nerdy bunch, but friendly enough. I felt I got a decent deal for my games. Definitely happy! Hopefully they all work cause returning them would be a little troublesome.
