While the high speed internet is great (when it works), the service is absolutely awful. It's quite expensive too. We've spent more time without WiFi than with it because the provided routers crash and go out continuously. And we've had Kinetic/Windstream for well over a decade because it's the only available fiber option in our area. Their routers are poor quality and crash every few months, the response time is awful when requesting repairs, and getting a representative on the phone is near impossible at times, and when you do get someone on the phone they put you on hold at least 3 times, 5-10 minutes each time. This is the second time a technician has had to come out and repair our service in a little over a month, first time was 10 days without WiFi and this time is going on 7 days without it, and we're 5 days away from the supposed appointment date/time. Unfortunately this is our only option without having to choose satellite. I do not recommend. Edit: A very friendly technician repaired our service exactly one week ago. However, last night the internet dropped again and I tried resetting the router multiple times only to be met with the same issue as the last time it went out. Called customer service to either request a repair within the next 24 hours or cancel my service if they couldn't do so. Was told I'd receive a confirmation text by this afternoon with a date and time. Never received it. It baffles me that they let their customers go without internet for weeks at a time, only for it to go out again one week later. It's extremely inconvenient when you work from home and rely on internet to make a living. We will be exploring other options in the area, this is unacceptable. read more

I will say that since kinetic took over Windstream it has gotten progressively worse over the last few years. Possibly the last straw for me is that we have been without phone service and internet since 9/26/24 and was told service would be fixed by 10/11/24 yet still no service as I leave this review. Kinetic lacks business ethics. We are paying for 1G of high speed internet. We have never received even near that. We are typically somewhere between 50 to 200 mbps. However, throughout the day there are many drops to around 4 mbps. Very slow. I even showed the Kinetic tech this when he was at our home. Kinetic sees no problem with charging us for 1G even though we are not receiving it. read more

I have been running on 14 mb download and 90 k upload for about two weeks, called to get someone on the phone and see why we were running on smoke signals for internet. I got someone who told me that there were some crossed wires that would be simple to do, and that he would expedite someone out for the next day since we have not had any internet for two weeks, we work from home and the signal was so bad we can't even stay logged on. I was told that we would be charged if we were not there when they got there, and that they would give us a two hour notice. All day Monday we waited, nobody showed up. I get a text on Tue saying that someone would be out before the 21st of March. 11 days????????????? How is it that we get charged if we are not there when they get there, but they just don't show up and nothing happens? And please, do not respond with your copy and paste replies like you do everyone else. You are a scam of a company and should be sued by every single customer you have. I cannot wait for Tru Vista to come through because at least they have a good reputation for customer service and quality fiber. We have been customers of Windstream for 30+ years, and their product & service, just keeps going downhill. They talked us into changing over from DSL to "FIBER", between 1-2 years ago. When the technician came out to change it over to "FIBER", it is NOT really fiber, like their letters and sales reps. states, but instead it is cable into your home. When questioning the technician, we were told they don't have fiber yet, and don't know when they will have it. He didn't know why they were telling us it would be fiber. We are paying for a 100 Gig speed internet service, and have recently been lucky to get 15 Gig. We keep running speed tests, and calling, with no assistance from Windstream. I am currently on a phone call with a rep. and have been placed on hold for a supervisor. I have been on hold for 59 minutes, listening to their music ... and then they HUNG UP ON ME AFTER 1 HOUR! I have to constantly call them about speed issues. Another problem is they have increased our bill by $12 in the past 8 months or so. They keep going up $6 at a time, every few months, but we CAN'T SEEM TO GET WHAT WE PAY FOR. Terrible company! I wouldn't recommend to anyone, if you have another option for internet. Windstream/kinetic will raise your rates every year, meanwhile the internet service is slow and will cut out 6-12 times per day. We call and the sent several service people out to fix the problem on different occasions and nothing changed. We then cancelled our service in August and switched to a different provider. We checked our bank account later in September and Windstream charged us for September after we had cancelled and switched companies. My wife called and their representative said they would cut a check for being overcharged and send it. It is now November and no check has arrived. When my wife called again, she got the run around! Had me on hold for 50 min back and forth to come up with Oops our fault, but we can't get out until the 23rd but it's the 19th duh so yeah go 5 days without service but we'll credit your account. Ive dealt with windstream for the last 15+ years and it has never improved. Literally the most unreliable service ever. Connection drops constantly and my speeds drop into the kbps when I pay for 1000mbps. I can call and complain but it always ends with them sending a technician over here just to change nothing a charge me more money. Support is a nightmare to deal with I've been hung up on countless times and no one knows what they're talking about so you end up being transferred to 5 different people. If you are going to consider the company Windstream for internet or phone service, consider my review. I got internet for 90 dollars a month. the internet was 30 mbs a second and not fast at all. I called to tell them I cant aford 90 dollers a month. I didn't like the internet so the company dropped it to 70 dollars. I decided to keep it to not deal with the hastle... A month before i had to move the company turned my internet off. I tryed to talk with someone after i got off work and couldn't get any one on the phone so I decided it was fine the company charged me for a month of internet i didn't get at my previous residence... here is what really makes me tick. I moved out and a month later after i had bin gone from the residence completely moved the company charged me for another month of service... Today is Friday 8/2/24 and we have been without internet service since Monday 7/29/24. The first available appointment is for this Friday evening at 7:00 pm which IMO is a bit ridiculous. Especially after receiving text messages that confirmed our appointment, then canceled our appointment as they suspected it to be an area outage, only to then re-confirm our original appointment and notify us that we would be billed if we were not available when the technician arrives at 7:00 pm on a Friday evening. This is NOT how any company should treat its customers. One day the market will open up to some competition and Kinetics will suffer greatly from their poor business attitude and practices.
