Windstream as a company is terrible. The lack of communication between employees, call centers, and service techs is astonishing. Getting enrolled and set up as a new customer was the worst experience I've ever had. Endless broken promises and deceiving claims about speed, prices, and service dates. I barely get half the internet speed they claimed I would have. My expectations for bill amounts, internet speed, and completion dates for installs were never met or even close to what employees made me believe or claimed. Dealing with customer service was horrendous, I explained my situation to at least 10 separate people and every time I'd get transferred to another person. A person who they claimed they briefed on the situation, but once spoken to, they had no idea what was going on. I'd never recommend this ISP to anyone at all. Avoid it at all cost. I will be cancelling and switching to a much better provider. Misleading customers and not having any internal communication is bad business. I have been trying to cancel my deceased mother in laws account for six months. the bill auto drafts out of my bank account and every month on the 5th I've called was given the disconnect order # and then was auto drafted the next month. I call again and am told it's set to disconnect and they will transfer me for a refund and imagine the financial department hangs up every time. they have to have the worst service on the planet. I have had issues with windstream for years ever since I moved outside the city about 17 years ago. Internet has been always horrible. No matter how many times you try to upgrade on sptoday. I had a Tech come out he came out. He was nice. We talked for a second. He went back to his truck. Then he came back out 10 minutes later. He says the issue is the fact that my address is listed as my old address. And that was the problem he would look when ahead and looked at my motor ran a test, said everything's good. And then he left after he left. I run a speed test still getting horrendously low internet speed. 0.02 mbps download. I pay to have up to 12 mbps. There's only provider that is in am stuck with them. I don't like talking to outsourced people in another country. Who are just going to tell you to reboot your modem. He did try to tell me that I can upgrade. But I don't see the point if you can't fix the problem in the first place. I would always recommend and tell other people if you have another choice other than windstream, go for that. read more

I was told the case would be "escalated", and received a response text saying someone would be out on 11/6, but no one showed up. I called and was told that apparently no one was available and that someone would be there on 11/9. If no one was available for the new date of 11/6, how do I know they'll come on 11/9? My Kinetic modem died after a particularly rough storm. Called Kinetic support and the earliest date for a technician to come out and replace the modem was 2 weeks in the future. I do not recommend using this provider as they are not able to get your internet back on in a timely fashion. Their hold times are also 40 min+. Signed up for their fiber optic service in a new community that's already pre wired for them and other homes here already have their service. Had to wait 2 weeks for the install only to be told the install could not be done as the home was missing the proper power splitter. The installer stated engineering would have to send out another team to install the splitter and then they'd send him back out to perform the install of the service. Called customer service to be told that engineering had 15 days to look into the issue. What a joke. Nahhh I'm not waiting for at least a month after I bought the house to get my internet up and running. Unacceptable especially by today's standards. I lost my internet early Saturday morning. I called the customer service number and unfortunately got a person speaking poor English in a foreign country. The representative was not sure where I lived or the condition of the area wiring problems. I had to call back several times that day to finally get a promise of service. They told me maybe Sunday by 5pm or Monday some time. I called 6 times after during late Sunday and was disconnected 6 times. I got a call from a service technician after I had obtained service from another company. I tried to cancel the service and have been hung up once and transferred no less than 7 times. The worst...I have been with windstream because they are the only option in my area. They finally came to barrier the phone line after leaving it running across my yard for weeks and cut through my electric dog fence. I reach out to windstream the day it happened they said someone would come out and someone would call back in 24 to 48 hours. No one showed or every called me back. After calling for a week to get help I handled the issue own my own before my dogs figured the fence was not working. This happened 1st part of December and here we are in February, no call back from customer service to get reimbursed for the cost of the repair the fence. I have reached out to the company on 10 different occasions. Horrible service and they do not follow back when they say you will get a call back. We have had a string of technicians at least once a month sometimes more. They can see that we are having a problem, but they can't find the cause, and can't fix it. They made a personal call to confirm the install prior to these events but couldn't call and speak with me regarding the change?
