King Insurance Agency in 1989. Julia (King) Makela has helped the business grow since then and bought the agency in 2007. Jenny King has offered the best customer service since 2000. Together, the sister-in-laws have what it takes to make this second-generation family business thrive. As an independent agency we represent a carefully selected group of financially sound, reputable insurance companies. We work to build custom coverage for our clients. History

Established in 1989.

Bill King, an OSU grad, moved from Dayton OH to Petoskey MI in 1971. He was a Principal in Galster, Kingman, Shafer Agency which later merged with McCune Dickinson Agency and formed Centennial Insurance Agency. In 1989 Bill King started the William G. King Ins. Agency, Inc. The same year, Julia Makela (King) joined her father after graduating from MSU. After 18 years of working together and growing the business, Julia purchased the agency and renamed it King Insurance Agency Inc. Excellent relationship-based personal service is the "Royal Service" provided that our clients deserve and expect.

Meet the Business Owner: Julia M.

After graduating with a BA in Finance from Michigan State University in 1989, Julia came back to her hometown of Petoskey, MI to joining her father's agency as a licensed PC & LH agent. With 30 years of experience in the business, she has enthusiasm to grow the business and expand her knowledge of the everchanging market place and product offerings.
