As soon as we…read morearrived we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, and this continued throughout the evening, which added to the dining experience. As the restaurant was a former pub, it is very spacious, with a variety of different sized tables for couples, familes or larger parties. We were given a table overlooking the countryside, which made a pleasant backdrop for our meal. The menu, as in most chinese restaurants was a comprehensive, bewildering list of dishes, so we plumped for one of the set Banquets, priced per person. When the first course of Yuk Sung arrived, I think we were all taken back by the size of the portions. This continued through the dim sum platter, and into the three dishes we had chosen for the main course. A set meal for three, seemed more like a set meal for five! On the whole the food was very tasty, some of the constituent parts of the platter were a little greasy, but this is a minor criticism. We all enjoyed the whole evening; good food, in a relaxed tranquil setting, rounded off with coffee and chinese tea. The Mandarin is fairly pricey restaurant, but it is definitely worth it for the high quality of the food and the general ambience. The Mandarin also a takeaway facility, with reduced prices compared to the restaurant. A definite plus point is that while you wait for your takeaway, you can relax in remarkably comfortable leather chairs!

Didn't have any luck ordering through just-eat, but it was literally down the road so I guess I was being a bit lazy. Drove down and parked at the fuel station next door. Pretty stereotypical Chinese takeaway feel to it, your generic fish tank under the front desk, Chinese calendars and ornaments etc. Very friendly staff and i was a served straight away. Nice idea having the kitchen open, it looked clean and it was nice to see literally everyone mucking in. I guess I was waiting around 15 minutes but I ordered the fillet steak so I'd be worried if it came out sooner. I spent the time watching the fish in the tank beneath the desk so it went surprising quick. Absolutely fantastic food and well worth the money, one of the best Chinese takeaways I've been to. They even threw in some free prawn crackers :-)

The takeaway is located next to Somerfield (used to be the Jet garage), and the food is really good…read more& reasonably priced. The kitchen is open, so you can see the chefs cooking the food that has been ordered, they have a delivery service available too. We have never had a bad meal, the staff are very friendly and efficient.
