It's a snooty fashion industry thing that is part of a much bigger story, but suffice to say I used several bad words in that first season. Today things are much different (fabric suppliers approach US - yeehaw!) but I still use Davisha. Davisha specialise in wool, cashmere and cotton, shirt and suit/coat fabrics. They have a gorgeous range and whilst the price can sometimes be high, the totally service justifies it. We use their beautiful range of men's shirt fabrics to line the pockets of our denim shorts and jeans. We've also made cropped jackets and coats from their wool and wool/cashmere fabrics. Davisha are open to everyone from a local tailor to students to wholesale fashion labels. Definitely worth a trip or ten.

Price range is also quite diverse, with the bulk of it sitting at a high price point due to the quality. If you've read my other reviews of homeware stores, you'll know that I hate these places with a passion, generally because either I get treated like an idiot (simply because I'm male), or paranoid that my size XL arse will knock over half the shit in the shop because they don't believe in human sized aisles in any of these shops. This one doesn't seem as bad on either front, so when I need cookware, I'll usually have a look in here. Not a bad shop. They've got most of the major brands, and those major brands are expensive, so don't be shocked if you don't go into these places often. I'd say the prices are pretty much average, not expensive compared with other places, but not underselling them either. Have a look.

This store has a really good standing with the locals here and in fact, if you ask someone (who's lived here for at least 5 years) where to get a new pot or vase, they'll say Dalgarno's. It's just a great store that carries a huge range of household gear. Think cooking pots, woks, frying pans, kitchen apparatus and incidentals. You can also get a good range of crockery in a wide range of colours, shapes and sizes. I recently went in and I notice that their Christmas gear is up (it's Nov now) and they have a delightful range of white bird inspired décor that I really love. But for now, I'm sticking to the essentils - I came to get a water jug for my sister and some mugs for myself.

If you're a large bloke like I am, you'll be painfully aware of how awkward it can be to walk down the aisles of some of these places, where everything is crowded in and you can't help but feel like something is going to be knocked over when you turn around. I bought a really good pillow here for my wife as part of her birthday present a few years ago. It was a pretty exceptional pillow at a fair price. The shop assistant was good, because she was one of those rare people who didn't treat me like crap when shopping in this sort of store. So this is one of my favourite homewares stores as a result. Brands such as Maxwell & Williams, Baccarac, Salt & Pepper and Kitchen Aid get top billing, however you will find hundreds of brands in stock here. The store is well stocked and the sporadic sales and specials are defiantly worth checking out. Staff are helpful without being intrusive which I always appreciate. If you need something for your kitchen then Casa Moderna will satisfy all your home ware needs.

Herbicious Delicious is primarily a cooking utensils and home wares shop although they do have an…read moreextensive range of herbs and spices as the name suggests. The store itself is quite cluttered and the building is old with little raised platforms and crooked architraves in the back room. There are two defined rooms but the stock carries over from one room to the next. Cooking utensils, pots pans, colanders, colourful knives, cookbooks and spoons are the most well-represented items in the store with at least one example of each visible whichever way you look. The herbs and spices are all stocked in clear packets covering one wall. This is really useful as it allows guests to identify the one they want based on its appearance as well as its name. As well as these the store stocks chutney, relish, fruit jams, sauces, dips and dressings, which are all great to add flavour to a dish. These are kept next to the spices. The staff here are really friendly and greet everyone as they walk in the door. While I am not much of a chef so the cooking utensils that filled the place didn't spark my interest I very much liked their selection of cute aprons. They were $39 but the variety in the styles was impressive- definitely one there for everyone.

They can be a little pushy in here but they are quite friendly and lighthearted so it isn't that annoying. The shop also has an ebay store, which is totally awesome, as you can check to see what they have before you head down there. The items do vary between the store and ebay but mostly they will have something similar or can sell it straight to you from ebay. The store is clean, the range is huge and the staff are friendly. So it is pretty similar to your average showroom. What makes this place different for me is the ebay store. Gotta love online shopping.
