Dwell isn't a high-end furniture store, but it's not competing with Fantastic Furniture either. It's a comfortable mid-range sort of store that is on par with the likes of Freedom (perhaps a little lower) in terms of price, but the stock is available in MUCH smaller numbers. If you want something for your home that isn't from the usual suspects like Freedom, Ikea, Plush, etc. without paying a fortune, Dwell is a great place to start. Oh, and should you see something you like but isn't quite right, make sure you let the staff know. They have catalogues full of things that can be ordered just for you.

I went in a couple of times, and even dropped off wall paper samples to help me match fabrics. I was so very disappointed that the owner never got in touch with me about the samples and helping me to finalise my choices. The staff were great - fantastic actually. They were so wonderful to me, but in the end I felt like the owner was too busy to spend time helping me. Feel sad, cause I was really looking forward to getting a couple of the pieces :)

The building seems to be some kind of warehouse conversion and offers a range of furniture such as couches, coffee tables and foot stools, as well as funky lighting fixtures, lamps and decorative pieces. Even if not looking to buy something Picci is still worth a look if you have time for a quick browse. The bright colours will give you if nothing else a hit of inspiration to take with you on your day.

They do specify that these products are not affiliated with the original designers whatsoever but still make for very interesting pieces and designs. For Tombo is an incredible Westgarth shop which specialises in 'Asian antique furniture and Japanese fabrics' and sells a truly staggering range of both. An almost warehouse sized space on High Street, Tombo is absolutely packed to the rafters with gorgeous vintage Chinese cabinets and benches and a beautiful range of antique Japanese kimonos. Also incredible? Tombo's exceptional range of textiles numbering some of the most beautiful antique crêpe de Chines I've ever seen. Sure, the staff probably don't have any books on customer service sitting at home but from what I've observed if you show a real interest in Tombo's stock its staff will show an interest in you. At around $1500 for a cabinet the furniture will have to wait, but I'll definitely be returning to Tombo for an antique kimono at some point soon.

When Im too broke to go out because of my purchases, I can prop up on my cushions, and eat a bowl of ice cream instead! My one complaint (other than my empty bank account) was that service was very average. I wasnt approached at all for the first ten minutes in the store, because the sales people were busy chatting. Neither said anything until I approached them at the counter to ask a question, and make my purchase. Perhaps they thought my cushion buying was inadequate, or maybe just didnt notice me. I really loved window shopping and even in taking a photo I caught two others peering through as they became entranced by the pretty objects that you can't help but picture being somewhere in your home. There is so much character here where their rustic, older pieces mixed amongst the newer more designer items just seemed to create a beautiful setting where (if I had the money) I would love to have picked up a bunch of decorations to complete some rooms in my home. Some of the hanging lights and macramé hangings were so cool and would look great in a window with some flowers. I got a bit carried away here but of course, it always comes with a price.
