The Long Version: My husband and I got takeout from The Hot Wok for dinner when we were staying in Perth. All their food is packaged as takeout, but they do have seating where you can eat your takeout food, just no table service. We decided to take the food back to our hotel room instead. We got the Bang Bang Chicken ($18.25) and the Shrimp Pad Ki Mow ($19.50). I called my order in and we walked there to pick it up. I was told it would take about 30 minutes to be ready. (They make everything to order.) We arrived after 30 minutes and our food was ready as promised. The lady on the phone was very courteous and I think she was the same lady at the pickup counter. The Bang Bang Chicken was listed on the menu as "Lightly breaded chicken tossed in a creamy honey sauce, on a bed of greens." It did not mention sesame seeds were sprinkled on top and I forgot to say "no sesame seeds" with my order so I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't really eat this dish, but that was on me. I was able to manage a few bites that didn't have sesame seeds on them (I can handle mild contamination) and I found the meat a bit dry, but the outside was pleasantly crispy and the honey sauce was pleasant. The "bed of greens" was actually raw shredded cabbage and carrots in a creamy sauce. I was asked how spicy I wanted this dish and I said medium, but it wasn't spicy at all, like not even mildly spicy, lol. Don't worry, the food didn't go to waste, as my husband ate it. The dish came with a small serving of steamed white rice. The rice was good, not too mushy nor too dry. The Shrimp Pad Ki Mow was tasty, albeit a tad too oily for me. It had 6 large shrimp, which were all properly deveined. They were plump and juicy. The dish also had broccoli, cauliflower, onions, carrots and Bok Choy. I was happy to see they were very generous with the vegetables. You have the option of having this dish with rice noodles or rice, I chose the noodles since that's what traditional Pad Ki Mow is. However, the noodles used were rather thin, like even thinner than traditional Pad Thai noodles. I like the wider noodles that typically come with Pad Ki Mow (or as I usually know it as, Pad Kee Mao). I was also asked what spice level I wanted this dish and I also said medium, and for this dish, it was a true medium as it had a spicy kick to it. They have their own private parking lot in front of the restaurant that is shared with their next door neighbour Jersey Joe's. Review #42 (2025)

Both have run similar models since the 3+ years we have lived here, and probably since COVID started in 2020: this model being take out only. By offering this model, they have managed to keep both locations in business, and the citizens of Prescott sane. I have heard that both were operated by... brothers? Cousins? Not sure, but they were related. I used to like the other restaurant better, until recently, when both opened for dine-in as well as continued take out; I had ordered a dish at the other place that I had liked better than here (however, to be fair, I cannot know recall what that dish was! Time to sample and compare again.) On the other hand, I have also heard that both locations have recently changed hands, so we shall see what the future holds. We recently had cause to dine in at this restaurant, and they were accommodating for our group of 11 or 12 people. Service was pleasant, if a bit flustered; one waitress was serving all the guests in the restaurant. Once the other diners were taken care of, and her attention was focused on us, things went more smoothly. The food was good, and the service was attentive from this point forward. There were even a few bits of the meal packaged to take-home (so I guess Chinese take out never really goes out of style!) I loved the decor here; we were in the 2nd dining room, where our chatter would not interfere with the other guests. The space is nicely decorated. There's even an old fireplace in this room. I look forward to going backnto dine in.

A huge tour bus of people filled the restaurant when I was there, so understandably the server/cashier/busser/owner? was a bit busy. My food was delicious. I got tofu with mixed vegetables, egg drop w/mushroom soup, and my husband and I split an order of vegetable rolls which came with 2 packets of duck sauce. Everything was cooked really well - tender and crisp veggies that were lightly seasoned. The tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My meal didn't come with rice (which I was expecting) so I ordered a side of it for a few dollars. My husband got Singapore lo mein which was a yellow curry dish. It was flavorful but not super spicy. I would come here again for the tasty food. The atmosphere is meh but the service is friendly if not speedy.

I got an order of General Tso's, the sauce and taste was great but they filled up half the container with broccoli covered in the sauce instead of chicken. Like literally half the standard sized container, the container wasn't bigger or anything. I didn't order broccoli and chicken, I ordered and paid for chicken. I've never had another Chinese place do that before. Was especially annoying since I ordered vegetables separately already. A lot of the chicken was also chewy and dry. But if it weren't for that it would've been really good.
