For the past 3 months I've visited several churches, but those pastor's words didn't move me like those of Pastor Harris. This man truly loves what he does and it shows. I love hearing him preach. I truly hate when we have guest pastor preach at our church. The words just don't hit me the same way. Moreover, this ministry offers a plethora of programs and services to its members. So for I counted about 20 different programs and services dedicated to improving the life of its members and members of the community. I have no doubt that my tithes are used to do the lords work.

I have never felt so many warm and loving people in a church body. Yes it's a large church- you must get involved in a group study to begin to feel a part of the "church body". But even if you don't get involved- God is in this place. We had to move to another state and visited many churches in the past 8 years. I have moved back now and am thankful for all of the pastors at FBA and for a loving body of believers. No one is perfect- that's why we need Jesus- but you are loved and accepted at FBA just the way you are.

Leading a congregation without an opinion is unrealistic, so this isn't a bad thing. Nothing here is remotely comparable to the intense racial, socioeconomic, or political narratives pushed in many predominantly Black churches in the Atlanta metro area. They are conservatives at First Baptist Atlanta, take it or leave it. The Experience: Friendly and accommodating. It features blue screens, spotlights, and a lecture style. They don't use screens and lighting the way Gen Z churches do--don't expect flashing lights or vibrant backgrounds.* Congregation: Very mindful, very demure. Think: "I'll take my tea in the sunroom." * Dress Code: Modest and reserved. Sundresses for women, suits for men.* Demographics: 80% Caucasian, 10% Asian, 7% people of color, 3% other.* Socioeconomic: ~80% upper 1% to upper-middle class.* Optics: Beautiful, large, well-landscaped campus. No one actually sits by the fountain; it is strictly for decoration. * Parking: Plenty of parking with extremely smooth exiting. Very impressive for a church this size. *Tip: The campus is huge, so keep a pair of flats handy if you wear heels.*Worship Experience: Fabulous orchestra and solid choir. However, the same four praise team members sing all the songs. The musical style is traditional, CCM, country, bluegrass, and purist. The Pastor has noted, "If you want to hear something different, listen to it in your car." It felt culturally insensitive and laced with an unsettling undertone, likely indicating a resistance to needed change. Leadership & Staff: Institutionalized monoculture and homosocial reproduction. Baby boomers make up over 80% of the demographic. Millennials are rising but lack representation and mostly end up leaving. Family & Children: Children and college students are separated into their own ministries away from the general congregation. You rarely see them outside of designated "Family Night" outings. It feels like a 55+ community where you never see the kids or parents. I have never seen a single child held by a parent during the main service.Pastor: Friendly, patient, and a good listener (or a great actor). He is feisty from the pulpit with sound Biblical teaching, though leadership limitations and a lack of authority are noticeable at times.Areas of Concern: All groups with clergy of color are placed in low-visibility areas. Sunday ministers, guests, and performers are never people of color. Furthermore, it seems no one outside of fellow Mississippians gets new staff positions, which is puzzling given Mississippi's reputation regarding racial disparity. The same three "favorites" always stand in for the pastor. Why is there no rotation among so many qualified individuals? "Rick" (the guy always walking around with his blonde wife) can really preach, and Donna is the chef's kiss! Atlanta is full of gifted, anointed people from all walks of life. If heaven looks like all of us, why doesn't it look and sound like that here? Dr. Stanley found a way to balance diversity in this congregation. It is unclear how or why that came undone, but comparing old videos of the congregation to now is very telling.

There comes a time in our life when we realize something is missing! That it's time for change! To…read moreadmit, I don't have all the answers, and I don't know where to go from here. For me, that was in July of 2001. Attending church had been a part of my adult life, but at this point, I needed something more. So, I began going from church to church looking for something more. My life was broken, shattered into thousands of pieces, and I had no glue to fix it. I had three children who were depending on me to keep it together as our world was changing. I was at a point where I had nothing left to give. I had no answers, no strength, no fight left. I was indeed down, depressed, and in debt with $27.00 in my bank account. I had a mortgage I couldn't afford, children to provide for, and one year left to graduate from college. I remember it as if it were yesterday. I thank God for where he has brought me from and where I am today. If I hadn't had problems, then I may have never known he could solve them. That's when I made a vow to the Lord to serve him all the days of my life. That September 2001, the Lord sent an Angel. He began to tell me about the Body of Christ and his Latter Rain Ministry that speaks the words of life in spirit and in truth. By his Grace and Mercy, the Lord extended his invitation to my family. First in 2003, my mother came into the church and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. She began to share her excitement of what the Lord had done for her. I saw and heard a change in her life. In February 2004, I experienced my first service and it was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. By November 2005, my children and I began attending service regularly. What amazes me is when you get real with God, he will get real with you. After six months and much prayer, I finally let go of how I thought I should serve the Lord. I asked him if this church was really where he wanted me to be? Another question I had, is the Holy Ghost real? I believed Jesus was leading me and would answer these questions. Spring of 2006, he baptized me with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the spirit gives utterance. From that moment on, Jesus has given me a new life, he continues to renewed my hope, he strength me daily, and he is teaching me how to grow up in the word of God. Now, I have a chance to overcome the sin in my life as Jesus shows me the way through the word of God that is being taught through his God called Ministry. Psalm 119:11, Thy word have I hid in my heart, That I might not sin against thee. Ephesian 4:11-14, And he gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the statue of the fulness of Christ... There is victory in Jesus! I owe my life to the Lord Jesus Christ and to God Our Father which art in heaven whom my soul loveth. The Church of the Latter Rain is speaking the truth of the word of God in spirit and in truth. If you are reading this, the Lord is leading you to have a greater experience with him. He is leading you to the changes you need to make, in order to have a New Life. Proverbs 3:5-7, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: Fear the LORD, and depart from evil... The worship is powerful and most of all they TEACH the true Word of God. In these last days, people should flock to a ministry such as this as you will grow spiritually. They do have kids programs as well. If you are looking to grow in God's Word you should check this place out!
