Kingkiner came out a few weeks ago to cut / trim some trees. One tree in particular I asked that they leave 5 feet of the base. They put this in their quote before I signed off. They wound up cutting down the entire tree, and then I had to pay even more to have them grind the stump. I tried calling and emailing them several times about this. I keep getting told that Elmer Kingkiner will call me, but he hasn't. Aside from this error, the other work was OK but I wouldn't recommend hiring them given their inability to even respond where there is a problem with their work. read more

Having used this service, i can say without a doubt that they are the rudest, sloppiest, most disrespectful crew i have ever had do tree work for me. It started with them driving their overly large truck over our historic curb and crushing it. When I approached the driver, he denied it and acted as if i was crazy. The tree work was sub par and they did not clean up adequately. My neighbor used a different tree service, had more work done and it cost less then what they charged me. To add insult to injury they left multiple signs for their company in my yard without asking my permission and even a few along the public right of way on my block. I called an asked them to remove their signs and they refused and threatened me. I posted a review here and didn't want to reveal i was a customer for fear they may identify me and retaliate - and i suspect they complained and got it removed. There are FAR better options out there, many that actually donate their time and services to supporting the community parks etc. I advise people to stay away from Kingkiner. read more

I had a huge pin oak tree (80 foot) in my back yard, with very little room to work in since my yard is only about 12 feet wide with an ally on one side. I grew up working for my dad's tree company and I knew that this was a bear of a job. Jody from Kingkiner came out and gave a quote for 785 to take down the lowest 4 branches and clear out as much of the deadwood as the guys could get to. This was way lower then the other companies quotes us ($5000 for removal, $2700 for removal with leaving all the wood) so I was happy to contract with Kingkiner. Unfortunately our first scheduled service date got bumped as we were scheduled at the end of the day and it had rained for several days before. This was not a huge deal and Kingkiner rescheduled us for about 2 weeks later. Since our service was non-emergent I was perfectly fine with this. Now, let me tell you the day of the tree service arrived and the crew was awesome. They showed up on-time and went immediately to work taking care to clean up as they went and hustling to get the branches down safely. They had to use ropes to lower branches and a bucket truck. They were very careful not to hit my fence at all. I didn't have high hopes for them removing all deadwood from inside the tree but I was wrong. The employee on the bucket navigated throughout this tree with surgical precision, cutting out a ton of deadwood and really opening it up. I gotta say I was seriously impressed overall and for $785 I feel like it was money well spent. If I ever decide to take the tree down entirely I will definitely be calling Kingkiner Tree Service. read more

My neighbor contracted with this company to remove two trees in her backyard. As a courtesy, I allowed them to access my property to cut the trees down. ACCESS ONLY. However, they then left gigantic tree trunks on MY PROPERTY for seven days causing deep ruts in my lawn and dead grass. Instead of handling this immediately, as any reputable business would have done, they have been giving me nothing but excuses and delays. I would never recommend a company like that to anyone. Great company very professional reliable, these guys really know what they are doing and they are the least expensive.

We had them come out to "thin" out 4 trees. They never called that they were coming. they took off all the branch's that were dead. However, one branch hit our downspout, bent it up, the guy straightened it out as best he could, now waiting to see if it leaks, They were not even a year old. I saw it happen. They were walking between the shed and house with dead branches instead of around the shed and busted the cable ties and my cable box was hanging in the "breeze". They never said a work. I fixed it myself. Either the bucket or chipper truck left ruts in the grass. Clean up could have been better, the worst was they threw their water bottles on the ground and left them, when the trash can wasn't 20' away from their truck. I called them after all was discovered, sent pics, no one has called back. NEVER AGAIN FOR THEM. read more

The day of the project , the crew came out early and set up so that they were ready to go the moment PECO shut down the power lines. My next-door neighbor had our oak trees trimmed by this company and they trimmed the trees to such an extent that now they are dying. They topped one of the trees and I asked the gentleman trimming it wouldn't that kill the tree and he said probably! We love our trees but now I think they're at a point of no return. These people are not arborists and all they care about is getting a payday and nothing else matters. We talked to the owner of the company and he said he knew he shouldn't of done it but the woman talked him into it. Not a good business practice if you ask me. A crew came to cut down my neighbor's tree on 7/19, but set up their crane on my property without notification or permission. The outriggers damaged the lawn, the crane tore up a couple of trees and a hedge. I asked the driver/foreman to move his crane off my property. My neighbor's lawn is big. The foreman refused to move it and even said that my lawn was NOT my property, and that he's going ahead with the job. Before I arrived this arrogant foreman had already insulted my wife. When I complained, they called part of my complaint "silly", more than once, to my face. Not really good customer service to call your clients silly. I will never use them again or recommend them. I can't recommend strongly enough to stay away from this company. I was given their name by someone who knows the owner. I contracted with them to prune a tree in front of my home, but they never showed up! 6 months worth of phone calls brought promises of "showing up within the week" or "we'll be there next Tuesday or Wednesday", etc.... If they didn't want the work they could have just said so, the job is too small or we don't like to actually do the work we advertise we do, you know any of those would have been acceptable. I would have moved on to find another service. I did eventually get my tree pruned, it took the man 4 days from first contact to complete the job. I have never purchased tree removal services through Kingkiner, but I would be inclined to use their company after help I received from them last week. The morning after a large snowstorm, my car got stuck going down a tiny drop from a driveway onto the street. Inches of snow were still piled up at the edge of the drive, and when I tried to move either forwards or backwards, my wheels just spun and made the problem worse by creating ice. I was out there for over an hour trying to dig my car out, break up the ice, put down salt, etc. Two guys from Kingkiner drove by in their snow removal truck and saw me struggling. They told me to stay put - they would help. They got out their shovel and ice pick and freed my car, also directing me about when to accelerate and which way to keep my steering wheel. They opened a new bag of salt to help with the process. I tried to give them money for helping me, or at least to repay them for the salt they had used, but they wouldn't take any of it. As I mentioned as a disclaimer, I have never actually paid for tree services through them. I have now, however, experienced their quick & efficient emergency snow services, and I can't say enough good things. I know the guys were busy and they did not have to stop and help, let alone do it for free. I am very grateful for their kindness. I only caught one man's name: Mel. Please take note that this company took over "Rick's" tree service. I have used Rick's many times and have been very happy with them.HOWEVER, this is NOT Rick's! Not even close. We had a tree go down in recent heavy rains and was suspended on our electric wires. Hanging over our driveway. We had to assume the wires were still "hot"No one could get in or out without fear the wires would give and the tree fall on the car. My husband is Oxygen dependent. We called Kinginger 11;00 on Sunday morning and explained all of this. Despite 5-6 phone calls pleading with them to come cut the tree down so we could call an electric contractor, at 1;30 the next day they were still a "no Show". Will never call them again. read more

Do not fall for Elmer's trade mark line "you'll never know we were here." I had a bunch of trees taken down and few trimmed back and they left my yard a mess: There were many large (several feed wide) holes left in my back yard Large branches and pieces of stumps were left all over (took me two hours to pick up) Several sections of a tree that was cut down were just left on my walk way They took the gates to my fence off and left them off A 4ft high by 3ft wide pile of stump grindings was left in my front yard. I emailed twice and called three times over the course of 2 or 3 weeks just trying to get them to come back to address these things. Every time I called the person who answered claimed they didn't know anything about the situation and it turned into a 15 min call. One of the times I was told someone would come out to address everything but never did. After another call, someone finally came out to resolve everything EXCEPT the huge pile of stump grindings. Their claim was that the contract I signed says they will be left. That is true, but it's also true that Elmer told my wife and I on two separate occasions (before and after he provide the quote/contract) that "everything would be cleaned up" and "nothing would be left behind" and that "[I] would never know he was here". That couldn't be further from the truth. My 1 star rating is a reflection on: not being able to trust the owner's word frustration with the mess they left the effort to get them to come back out having to find and hire someone to clean up the stump grindings they left. read more

I had a great experience with Kingkiner. I recently purchased an estate sale property that was neglected for years and had to completely gut the inside and rebuild. Needless to say the backyard was an overgrown mess. I needed 6 large trees and overgrown arborvitae as well as much brush and debris removed. I received quotes from 8 other tree services and Kingkiner was the last quote I needed. Elmer asked me what my best quote was and then beat it by $300. Also, when he came my dad and I were removing overgrown plants in the flower beds around the house, Elmer told us to stop and he'll take care of the rest for free. In February I contracted Kingkiner to remove a tree and to grind out the stump. They came February 26th and cut the tree down. They left the trunk laying in my front yard and did not grind the stump down. It's been three weeks. They sent me two bills asking for payment. I told them I would pay when the job was completed. I also sent them a picture of what was left in my front yard. Like the other reviews stated they also gave me weather excuses. I usually don't write reviews but this company is very unreliable. I called Kingkiner to trim back some trees on my property after having a frustrating experience (2-month wait) with another tree company last year. A representative came to the house quite soon after my call. He fully understood my needs and quoted what I felt was a very fair price. The communication from the office regarding scheduling was excellent. There was a delay due to some very bad weather in or area. But the office kept me fully informed and rescheduled the work in a timely manner. The crew arrived early in the day. We do not have a large property, so the 6-man crew was able to complete the work quickly and efficiently. Friendly and professional. They also did a great job cleaning up. Company has failed to return 10% deposit (quote/check date 8/12/2020) of cancelled service despite numerous calls. I wrote a check for $200 at time of quote to "get on schedule" and was told service would be provided within a week (with Elmer), however I wasn't added to schedule until 9/30, I promptly cancelled service with scheduler and was told I would get my deposit back via check in mail. Still no return of deposit and its been over 2 months. I call to speak to Tina, the Office/Business Manager, at least once a week but she is never in the office, never returns my calls and no one ever knows her schedule. read more

He came out promptly to talk through what we wanted, and did a great job of understanding everything and translating it to a detailed quote at a fair price. Kingkiner was able to schedule us within three weeks, which was quicker than every other company. They stuck to their word and came out three weeks later. Julio and the crew were very professional and pleasant. They worked hard and did their best to do the work while minimizing damage to our property. It was a very windy day, so they communicated that they would need to return to finish the tree trimming near the power lines. True to their word, they returned a week later and completed the work. All around a positive experience for us, especially considering the terrible communication we received from numerous other tree companies trying to get quotes. In August I contracted with Kingkiner to remove some trees. They completed cutting down the trees and had to come back to remove the wood and grind the stumps. I asked if they wanted to be paid but the foreman stated to my wife and I that we should wait until the remainder of the work was finished. Well they came back and removed the wood but didn't grind the stumps. I received an invoice for the full amount even though they never ground the stumps. After going back and forth to no avail I I was checking my bank account and found that they had debited my account for $2000 in three separate transactions on the same day. That was in November. It is now March and they just debited my account for another $300 + $$$. Beware of this company. They apparently retain your CC info and use it at will if there is a disagreement. The very best tree service! Had a very large Oak in front of our house, as it was dying, it was close enough to that it might collapse upon the house. We had earlier contacted another well-known tree service. They were to call us back in a week... well, a few weeks later they decided to call back. Kingkiner was called, and a very prompt and clear contract was offered. We agreed to it. Right on schedule, their team arrived, and took down this massive tree that very day, The large logs were removed in a few days, and the stump ground out and filled with topsoil, all done in a really professional way. One week after the removal, all was back in order again. Much less fuss, trouble and money than I could have hoped for! If they had a 6-star rating, I would give them that. read more

Kingkiner gave me the best pricing & schedule to remove a dying ash tree & dogwood plus about 10 ugly bushes. They grinded all of the stumps to ground level & removed all debris.
