The exercise studio is a disgrace. Flooding damaged the ceiling and the floor, classes were cancelled so they could repair the floor but they didn't and when they cancelled them for a second time they only replaced parts of the floor and left large damaged areas unrepaired. Cheap and cheerful but don't expect anyone to return your calls or answer emails and staff are generally kept in the dark so unable to help much. The booking app is abysmal, regularly doesn't work, was supposedly updated and now doesn't work again. You can't book by phone as they don't answer. Booking via the website is ok if you know what class you want to book, if it then it's a nightmare.

The local schools and clubs use this place extensively and you'll find plenty of sports teams training in the evening and on weekends. The staff are super helpful, going out of their way. They even told us that nobody had booked the courts after us so we were free to play until we pleased. Nice touch. It's out the way, so you'll need to drive or cycle to get here.

They have a pool, cardio machines upstairs and a weight room. Can get a little crowded but not too bad. Relatively speaking this is one of the roomier workout facilities that I have used in Europe. I am from the US and it takes a little bit of getting used to since everything in the States is much bigger.

Sauna and steam room are ok, but nearly the same effect you can get in a hot tub at home for less £. But I did like the temperature of the water in the swimming pool, its just perfect. Poor hygiene I'd say. But as far as this club was in 5 walking minutes from home it did work for us. I think you pay for being in not over crowded club, but not for the quality...

Not sure what made me think they'd give us money off for enduring months of noise and disruptive building works. Oh well, the promise of no joining fee if you signed up before it was ready ... less community than commerce, hey ho. It's taken them a while to get going, the fitness class schedule is still patchy and it's annoying that you can't just turn up and pay as you as like you used to. OK, on to the positives. It's been open for several years now and it still looks fantastic. As I live 2 minutes away I don't normally use their changing rooms - until last night. My heating stopped working in the current cold spell (worst timing ever!) and I decided to make use of their showers. Back to the good old days ... the original pools replaced Victorian baths! I warmed up with a dance aerobics class which was great fun - wish I wasn't always so busy on Thursday nights, more Latin freestyle than strict routines put a smile on everyone's face. ... and the changing rooms were a pleasant surprise, clean and white and spacious with warm showers. Enough lockers to go around (make sure you take a £1 coin!) and decent hair dryers. I am truly impressed - Better deserves its name after all.

So, it has a little garden, bowling green, tennis court, children's playground, cricket pitches and football pitches. Although it is because it is five minutes walk from Wimbledon station, a great place to sunbathe, has (sometime working and unlocked) toliets, a parkie (whoop!), a corner shop accross the road, two nearby schools and an Art college within a moments walk that it is the heart of the community. The football pitch outside is great, I play a couple of times a week, it's very difficult to find a good 3G pitch to play on and this is as good as anywhere I have played before.
