The preaching is from the King James Version of the Bible. The congregants are kind and visitors are made to feel welcome and given the opportunity to learn about salvation and fully understand. The women's group is very active and there is fellowship in and outside of church. There are opportunities for service. The Sunday evening and Wednesday night services are held at the First Baptist Church of Hammond. Transportation is provided to anyone in need of a ride to church. There is a nursery for very small children, however the church is family integrated which I like. This church is not part of the new IFB movement (this is just FYI). Young people are encouraged to attend Bible college. Visit and I believe you will be blessed.

Since then, I've gone more often to Sunday services and have gotten to know more people. I've found the people here very welcoming to people of all backgrounds. They do programs for the homeless, and even have a parishioner that drives people to church on Sundays that don't have other means to get there. There are always going to be people who talk amongst themselves (it's human nature, after all); however, I was welcomed when I started coming here, and continue to feel welcomed and 'part of the family'. I recommend this church for people who want a service that is pretty moderate, small, and not 'mega-church-y'. Plus organ!

This might be excused if it was a large church with too many members to keep track of, however this is not the case. Since then, the leaders of said church have publicly humiliated people, called people names such as pathetic and souless and have generally been hypocritical and none of the congregation has stood up to say anything about it. I was disgusted and thouroughly disenchanted with the way things were. I would not step foot in this building if they paid me to. What I see in this "church" is a building where hypocrites gather to make themselves feel better while putting people down and making them feel less than human. Take care when choosing this particular group to choose to spend God's day with. I won't go back and I urge any and all true believers to do the same.

As a composer, I rarely expected to find myself reviewing a church…read more I composed, arranged, and recorded the original music for Family Christian Center's long-running production, Jesus of Nazareth, under a written royalty agreement tied to ticket sales. That agreement was mutually revised in 2014 to reflect the production's continued use of my music. Royalty payments stopped in 2018. Over the years I've tried every private avenue I could think of, including invoices, emails, certified letters, documentation, and legal counsel. Earlier this year I was told leadership was reviewing the matter, but after providing everything they requested, communication once again stopped. I'm posting this only after exhausting every private and professional effort to resolve it. I remain hopeful that Family Christian Center's leadership will choose to address this in a manner consistent with the values it teaches.
