The Punch Bowl is a traditional country pub located just off the A29. We stopped by for Sunday…read morelunch a few weeks ago. The pub itself has a small front garden and an attractive tile-hung exterior. Inside is all you'd expect, with low ceilings and heavy beamed ceilings. It's a listed building, and was originally a timber-framed house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, though now has some more recent additions. There is a small central bar, a larger lounge bar to the right and a smaller snug room to the left. They serve Sunday lunch through most of the the afternoon and evening, and the main menu is also available if you don;t want a roast. Portions are generous; for vegetarians, you get two large Yorkshire puddings with a very good selection of vegetables (lots of roast potatoes), so you won't go away hungry, though personally I'd have preferred a nut roast or something with my veg to provide a centrepiece to the dish. Staff were friendly and service reasonably swift, given it was late in the afternoon. There is a good range of real ales and the usual lagers, wines, spirits, etc. There is parking at the rear.

A good lamb shank should fall off the bone. On the upside the mash potato and veg was nice but it was expensive mash and veg considering I couldnt eat most of the lamb. Also, the lemonade ran out of syrup so was just soda water and when we told them they couldnt fix it very quickly. I'd say its okay if you just want a quick drink but would go elsewhere for food.

Its a really attractive looking place and the interior is nice and cozy too. They do a Sunday roast (2 courses) for £10 which I think is really good value. I had the roast pork and it was really well cooked and had some fantastic crackling on the side too. The staff and owners are really down to earth here and always make you feel as welcome as possible. Country pub dining at a very high standard!

Absolutely heaving with people plenty of staff . When we turned up they said the wait was 30 minutes but we only had to wait 10 so that was good . I had the roast beef carvery which was ok nothing to write home about but ok . She had the gammon which she totally enjoyed. Her daughter had the veggie burger which she thoroughly enjoyed her little boy had the vegetarian pizza he liked that too . The staff are polite and always smiling and helpful. A good selection of ales too . Loads of outdoor seating in their massive beer garden and a massive bouncy castle type slide . Swings and slides to keep the kids entertained. And loads of car parking worth a visit shame my roast beef wasn't a bit more exciting. lovely surroundings 9/10
