At check out I was hit with "did you extend your stay?" (I hadn't) "you were undercharged by the Manager at check-in" and "that Manager is not supposed to check anyone in"! There is also a menu option with eggs benedict, eggs royale etc that you can't get at the buffet. All options are delicious and they even give you a little paper bag that you can put some fruit, muffins and pastries in to take away for your lunch! The spa facilities are quite good, the gym is slightly on the small side but still useable. Lovely swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room with friendly staff. I had one dinner here in their Hawthorne restaurant, and it was one of the best meals I think I've had in a hotel! To start with I had rabbit popcorn which was well seasoned, moist and extremely tasty and for my first try of rabbit, I was impressed! For mains I had a venison burger with chips. The venison burger was literally one of the best I have ever had! I asked for it to be cooked medium and it was cooked too perfection! Not too red but juicy and crumbly - utterly delicious! My mains was a rich chocolate brownie, which again was pretty amazing although I do have to admit that at this point I was pretty full and didn't manage to finish it all! Overall, the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle is a lovely hotel, comfy beds, good service (I broke my nail one night and the concierge found me a nail file right away), tasty breakfast, decent food, excellent facilities - definitely try and stay if you're in the area!

Housekeeping: Shirley & Ethan went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Kitchen: Chef Jimmy prepared amazing 'To go breakfast' for our family, including coloring books for the children on our departure dates. Bar & restaurant staff amazing, but Sue went above & beyond in every way possible! It truly felt like home at this location! No detailed was missed and assistance was always available. The rooms are spacious and well equipped but my 3rd floor room did not have a good bathroom. Shower was underpowered and in a very slippery bath with a shower curtain. Not ideal as shower curtains are not what I expect in a high end hotel, while the bath is pretty dangerous and I would be concerned for older guests stepping out. In addition some tiles were missing above wash basin. Breakfast consisted of hot and cold buffet and was very good. So some hits and misses but location was a winner.

We were in town for a nearby wedding and found the hotel a pleasant space to rest and get ready. No complaints. It's probably about the "fanciest" you'll get in Hexham and very centrally located. Its walking distance (though a bit of a hike) from the train station. The bathroom in particular was newly updated, and though oddly-shaped, spacious and the soaking tub a great comfort after a long journey! *£129 weekend (fall) rate *family owned and operated *nice staff *very clean and tidy *breakfast is AOK. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable with a lovely big bed, nice big TV and nice bathroom. The dinner menu and snack menu had plenty of options and breakfast had a cooked option and continental which included fresh fruits, fruit in bowls (presumably from cans), toast and spreads, yoghurt, cereals and juices. It's perfectly located in the centre of town, close to pretty much everything with a lovely park just across the road and the Hexham cathedral just down the road. The station is close also. I'd certainly stay here again.

Room was small but the bed was comfortable and the 'wet room' style en-suite was clean and again finished to a good standard following the refurb. Location is great a couple of doors down you have a Lloyds bank, little Waitrose and the a whole bunch of bars. Across the road is a Pizza Express, so there is really all you could need right outside the door. Breakfast was basic, continental style with toast, cereals, fruit juice, tea & coffee and croissants. Good for the price. Would definitely be happy to stay here again.

Come out of the station, turn right and you'll see it. - The rooms were really big, with decent sized bathrooms - The breakfast was included in the room rate and wasn't bad (the croissant wasn't fresh but at least they provided lots of fruit, and lots of tea!!) - They do nice things like leave you complimentary water, juice and a kitkat - The staff were really friendly and helpful I heard a few people mention that their room were noisy when trains arrived/departed, but my room was fine... If I need to stay in Newcastle again I'll definitely come back here.

Breakfast, which in our case came with the room, was rather blah. Not much flavor, and I think the mushrooms (a requirement for an English breakfast) clearly came out of a can. Not really any made-to-order options. For England, the price was moderate. If you're converting from dollars, it's going to sting a bit, but that's the case in the entire country.

Very large desk area with long strip lights, easy to hook up the laptop to the TV for dual screen working. The breakfast buffet was quite standard, but with made-to-order Belgian waffles which was a really nice special touch. Sadly the restaurant that I was looking forward to eating at, was closed on arrival. Apparently the hours have been reduced lately due to lack of demand, which I quite understand all things considered. The receptionist was very good with nearby recommendations, including several in the new development mini-mall which is just across the bridge from the hotel.
