Sad thing is, it took a total of probably 5 minutes to wet a towel with warm water and actually clean the floors. Needless to say, not the best first impression.

The staff was very accommodating when I booked our reservations; we secured the block rate as well as connecting rooms with an early check-in. Despite many of these requests, the staff was helpful to fulfill my requests and with courteous disposition. There is plenty of parking on site. The hotel is central downtown, and a short drive from the heart of Lakeland. They offer complementary breakfast throughout the week. There is a store where you can buy general items throughout your stay. Everything looks newly built, and most importantly, clean. The front desk staff was very courteous and responsive during our stay. During late night hours, you cannot enter the building without a room key, so I felt safe overnight. I requested connecting rooms for my family and my parents, who were looking after our baby while we were at the wedding. Our room was a king suite, with an extra large bed, standing shower, toilet, and living room with pull-out couch. My parents' room was handicap accessible with a roll-in shower, extra large toilet area, with double beds and a pull-out couch. Both rooms were clean and spacious. The living room area was large enough to set up our pack-n-play crib for baby. The SpringHill Suites by Marriott is a clean and spacious hotel to book your stay in Lakeland. We enjoyed our stay and its central location. I recommend for your next trip to Lakeland!

How often do you get to stay in a 100-year-old hotel? Had drinks and dinner in the bar upon arrival and both the cocktails and the steak were exceptional. Also, the hotel restaurant offered to have a to-go breakfast burrito waiting for me each morning of my stay, which was not only a solid breakfast, but saved me a bit of time each morning. The location is great, overlooking Lake Mirror, and being within easy walking distance of several restaurants and bars. Now, for the not-so-great. The air conditioning in my suite was not working upon arrival, which is a real shame, because man, that was a nice room with a lakefront view. Sadly, no other suites were available when I asked to relocate, so I had to downgrade to a standard room. Caveat: the suite was a free Diamond Status upgrade, so I can't complain too much. Second, the floor plan on the Hilton app reflects that there is an ice machine on every floor with guest rooms. This is not accurate. There are only ice machines on three of the floors. And as luck would have it, although I was on one of those floors, that particular machine was not working, so I had to go to a different floor to fill up my cooler each morning. Not a huge deal, just a minor inconvenience. Third, while I confirmed with the front desk staff that my daily food and beverage would be automatically applied to cover the cost of that breakfast burrito, I ended up being charged both days for it, necessitating a call to the front desk after checkout to remind them to apply the credit and reverse those charges. Again, the staff were friendly, and quickly corrected the issue, sending me a followup text to let me know it had been addressed. Finally, consider that the rooms on the north side of the property overlook a main thoroughfare in the downtown square area and a parking garage, so there's quite a bit of street noise, especially on Friday/Saturday nights from folks barhopping. Stay on a higher floor or on the south side of the hotel if you're noise-sensitive. All that being said, I really enjoyed my stay here, and will definitely stay here again next time I'm in town.
