    Thank you card

I'm grateful that my job gives me the opportunity to travel across the country, often to hidden gems that aren't typical tourist spots. Along the way, I've met incredible and welcoming people in some of the most charming small towns in America. With all that travel comes plenty of time spent in hotels, on planes, and in rental cars. After more than a decade on the road and over 1,000 nights in various Hilton properties, I've earned Lifetime Diamond status. Every now and then, a hotel goes the extra mile for us road warriors, and my recent stay at The Terrace Hotel in Lakeland, FL (part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection) was a perfect example. A few days before check-in, the hotel reached out to thank me for my loyalty and offered a choice of a Charcuterie Board, Fresh Fruit Platter, or Crudités Platter as a welcome amenity. I chose the charcuterie, and upon arrival, I was upgraded to a spacious corner room with a view. Waiting in the fridge was a beautifully arranged charcuterie plate along with a handwritten thank-you card--a thoughtful touch that truly stood out. The Terrace is a historic hotel that has been fully renovated in recent years, and they're currently celebrating the building's 100-year anniversary. If you find yourself in Lakeland, I highly recommend staying at this beautifully restored property. Their attention to detail and guest appreciation make for a memorable experience!

The hotel was beautiful and staff was very friendly. Valet was helpful and friendly. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. The room was clean and had enough space. The shower is on smaller side but not cramped. The only issue was the bed. If you like a firmer bed then it's fine. It just wasn't comfortable and not enough support. Overall, 3 stars for friendliness, cleanliness and atmosphere.

Where to start: this 100 yr old hotel takes you back just not in a good way. Pros: location, lots of restaurants and a park w/pond across the street. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Cons: water, only hot water from the sink and shower, from both settings/handles. Literally ran it for over 5 min, never got cool. Safety, door tries to swing closed but never latches. Fine for me, but women be aware! HOT! It's Florida so AC a must and I noticed at 5pm the room was 75, odd since I had it set to 65. Called the front and they said it was broken but they were working on it. Hour later I check it's now 78, at this point they say sorry and had gone to the store and bought box fans, they gave me one and a $25 breakfast discount. They never got it fixed, it was 80 all night and the windows are sealed shut. Keep in mind the only hot water so no cool shower:(. Now petty items, parking, lot holds 15 cars then you have to park at next lot, but this is down town, a guy was peeing in the lot at 9pm... real nice. TV has no guide or ref sheet. You have to flip channels. No desk space, filled with complicated nespreaso machine. No coffee downstairs until 7am. Very limited outlets, remember it's 100yr old. Elevators, fits 2 very close friends and that's about it. So NO, I'll never stay here again, the best western in the area I moved to was 10x better.

Stayed here while in town for a wedding and enjoyed our visit. The hotel is lovely and so distinctive. Check in was a breeze and the staff was super friendly. Our room was large and comfortable. The shower was very nice with great water pressure. The bed was comfy as well. I think it would be nice to get a room at the end of the hall so you face the lake. We overlooked a parking garage across the street. The only drawback was that only one small elevator worked while we were there. The larger one was out of service so sometimes it was slow and/or cramped to get down from an upper floor. There's a restaurant on-site and there are also plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance. I thought this was a great place to stay.

I do recommend this hotel as it's convenient for Lakeland DT. However, we have stayed twice now and have had hiccups both times. The first time, my husband had to leave for work by 5 am and when he went to use the shower, no hot water...No one to call as it was so early. So he goes off to work pretty much just wiping himself down with a cold and wet washcloth. So, we gave it another try...Well, this time I get into the shower only to find that the conditioner bottle was completely empty! I have very thick and curly hair and need to condition it or it's a hot mess when trying to brush through it. Clearly the housekeeping staff hasn't checked the bottles in weeks maybe a month. So very disappointing that we've now been at this hotel twice and haven't been satisfied either visits. I did try to call the housekeeping manager and was told there wasn't one. I then called to to talk with the hotel manager only to be put through to voicemail not once, but twice. When I called back to ask them to speak with a person and not voicemail, I was left on hold. I'm not sure if I'll be back to this hotel and again. I certainly hope that the customer service or more so, housekeeping gets better.

If you are visiting Lakeland or have the desire for a different central Florida experience, you have to make the Terrace Hotel part of your visit. It's an old style hotel, but incredibly comfortable. It truly reminds me of a downsized Peabody. The lobby is small but comfortable and old school elegant. It has a wonderful open covered veranda that expands the restaurant seating and the lobby's. There is also a quiet second floor bar and seating area overlooking the lobby and their amazing restaurant. There are quaint pleasant areas throughout the hotel. You are in the heart of beautiful downtown Lakeland. One of Olde Florida's secrets. Beautiful walking areas, shoppes, restaurants, and activities. We checked on the Farmer's Market held seasonally on Saturday mornings. The hotel rooms are extremely comfortable with ample space for your needs. I've stayed in many five star accommodations over the years all over the US. This little hotel holds its own. You really should give it and Lakeland a try. You really won't be disappointed.

The hotel is central downtown, and a short drive from the heart of Lakeland. They offer complementary breakfast throughout the week. There is a store where you can buy general items throughout your stay. Everything looks newly built, and most importantly, clean. The front desk staff was very courteous and responsive during our stay. During late night hours, you cannot enter the building without a room key, so I felt safe overnight. I requested connecting rooms for my family and my parents, who were looking after our baby while we were at the wedding. Our room was a king suite, with an extra large bed, standing shower, toilet, and living room with pull-out couch. My parents' room was handicap accessible with a roll-in shower, extra large toilet area, with double beds and a pull-out couch. Both rooms were clean and spacious. The living room area was large enough to set up our pack-n-play crib for baby. The SpringHill Suites by Marriott is a clean and spacious hotel to book your stay in Lakeland. We enjoyed our stay and its central location. I recommend for your next trip to Lakeland!

Review - Lakeland, FL (3855 Don Emerson Dr.)…read more I stay in hotels constantly for work and typically choose brands like Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, and similar business-class properties. This is not a hotel I would normally book, but I gave it a chance. First, credit where it's due: Drew at the front desk was excellent. Friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful during check-in. He did a great job and represents the hotel well. One of the housekeepers I interacted with was also very kind. That said, the property itself is clearly worn and not very clean. There was dirt on the floors in the elevator and hallways, the walls are scuffed and dirty, and the room itself was just okay at best. You can hear people clearly through the walls, and because of the courtyard layout, noise carries easily. There was a party nearby that was impossible to ignore. I was still prepared to stay a couple of nights and deal with it. My colleague was scheduled to remain here for roughly nine weeks for a project, so we were willing to tolerate the condition for convenience. The problem came when our client left early and postponed the project until Monday, forcing me to return to the hotel mid-day and request an early checkout. The front desk staff tried to help, but the General Manager refused to come out and speak to me, choosing instead to stay behind closed doors and deny any flexibility. Charging a full additional night--not a half day, but a full night--under these circumstances is incredibly shortsighted, especially for a frequent traveler with elite status. A half-day charge would have been reasonable. Waiving the charge entirely would have been smart business. Instead, that decision caused us to move our entire team to the Hilton Garden Inn next door, which is cleaner, quieter, competitively priced, and includes breakfast. Congratulations--you may have made about $100 today, but you lost thousands of dollars in future business. I was willing to put up with the condition of the hotel for a short stay, but poor leadership and rigid, guest-unfriendly policies are a dealbreaker. Refusing to even meet a loyal guest face-to-face is unprofessional and frankly rude. In summary: * Staff like Drew are excellent * The property is rundown and noisy * Cleanliness needs improvement * Management is inflexible and shortsighted I would not recommend this hotel, and I will not return. Travelers who value cleanliness, reasonable service recovery, and professional leadership should look elsewhere. FYI, right next-door there's a Hilton Garden Inn. It's nice gorgeous and it has conference rooms and breakfast so we just decided to move there for better quality but I'm glad that GM made an extra hundred dollars. Congratulations.

She was kind, efficient, and accommodating, especially since I was traveling with my 72-year-old mother. Jim from maintenance was also outstanding and genuinely cared about solving problems. Unfortunately, our shower dripped nonstop for the entire stay, making it difficult to sleep. Housekeeping entered our room despite our Do Not Disturb sign being displayed. The biggest issue involved our room keys. We had THREE sets that failed. I called ahead and specifically asked the front desk to make and test new keys before we returned because I didn't want to repeatedly drag my elderly mother up and down the elevator. I was assured it would be handled. It wasn't. When we arrived, the keys had been made but not tested. I had to repeatedly advocate for a very simple request. Rather than listening, Deanna and Lilly seemed more interested in repeating scripted apologies and saying, "it was a miscommunication" than actually solving the problem. Eventually, thanks to Jim from maintenance, the issue was resolved. Technology problems happen. What disappointed me was the lack of empathy, active listening, and troubleshooting. Marriott says they "Put People First" and "Pursue Excellence." Unfortunately, that wasn't reflected in our experience. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not.
