We loved the location and the overall atmosphere of the hotel. The historic charm is part of what brought us back, and we've enjoyed previous stays here. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing in several ways. While we were in the room, there was painting being done nearby, and the fumes were extremely strong. When we called the front desk, we were initially told no painting was occurring, only to later return and find wet paint signs posted. We also had maintenance issues in the room, including a toilet paper holder that was not attached to the wall and a shower that took over 20 minutes to even get warm. We understand this is a historic building, but we did not experience these kinds of issues during prior stays. Additionally, the dining room appeared to have only one server working. She was absolutely wonderful and did her best, but it was clear she was stretched too thin to provide attentive service to all guests. Overall, we still appreciate the character and location of the hotel, but this stay fell short of the experience we were expecting based on our past visits. read more

I stayed at The Terrace Hotel by Hilton and, unfortunately, the experience was mediocre at best. For a hotel charging over $200 a night, and it being a HILTON, the level of service was disappointing and nowhere near what I expect from this brand. There is no room service. While you can order food online from the restaurant, you're required to go down to the lobby to pick it up yourself. On top of that, there is no food available after 10 p.m. The "all-day menu" advertised online is misleading, as it's actually only available during lunch and dinner hours, with no clear times listed anywhere. There's also no ice service as advertised on the property. You have to go searching for it yourself on specific floors (the 4th or 6th). I requested extra pillows at the time of booking, and that request was never accommodated. The building is located on a very busy street, and the noise was constant throughout the night. Between traffic and garbage trucks beeping around 4 a.m., getting a good night's sleep was difficult. The one and ONLY bright spot of the entire stay was the valet attendant, who was incredibly friendly and had a great attitude; easily the best part of the experience. Overall, this stay was a huge waste of money and fell FAR short of the service and comfort I associate with Hilton. I will NOT be staying here again, and you should consider a different establishment if you're looking for a truly comfortable and service oriented stay. Pros: Beautiful hotel, service top notch, and good location from shops and restaurants. When we first arrived to our room the desk in the room was broken within minutes they sent maintenance to try to repair.Complimentary self parking with valet. Cons: If you care about your sleep I would avoid this hotel. Sleeping is pretty much impossible in this hotel you will hear the train, noisy cars and bikes, police, fire and ambulance. To add on to the noise the A/C sounds like the noise a car makes when it starting up. read more

Every now and then, a hotel goes the extra mile for us road warriors, and my recent stay at The Terrace Hotel in Lakeland, FL (part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection) was a perfect example. A few days before check-in, the hotel reached out to thank me for my loyalty and offered a choice of a Charcuterie Board, Fresh Fruit Platter, or Crudités Platter as a welcome amenity. I chose the charcuterie, and upon arrival, I was upgraded to a spacious corner room with a view. Waiting in the fridge was a beautifully arranged charcuterie plate along with a handwritten thank-you card--a thoughtful touch that truly stood out. The Terrace is a historic hotel that has been fully renovated in recent years, and they're currently celebrating the building's 100-year anniversary. Where to start: this 100 yr old hotel takes you back just not in a good way. Pros: location, lots of restaurants and a park w/pond across the street. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Cons: water, only hot water from the sink and shower, from both settings/handles. Literally ran it for over 5 min, never got cool. Safety, door tries to swing closed but never latches. Fine for me, but women be aware! HOT! It's Florida so AC a must and I noticed at 5pm the room was 75, odd since I had it set to 65. Called the front and they said it was broken but they were working on it. Hour later I check it's now 78, at this point they say sorry and had gone to the store and bought box fans, they gave me one and a $25 breakfast discount. They never got it fixed, it was 80 all night and the windows are sealed shut. Keep in mind the only hot water so no cool shower:(. Now petty items, parking, lot holds 15 cars then you have to park at next lot, but this is down town, a guy was peeing in the lot at 9pm... real nice. TV has no guide or ref sheet. You have to flip channels. No desk space, filled with complicated nespreaso machine. No coffee downstairs until 7am. Very limited outlets, remember it's 100yr old. Elevators, fits 2 very close friends and that's about it. So NO, I'll never stay here again, the best western in the area I moved to was 10x better. read more

Stayed here while in town for a wedding and enjoyed our visit. The hotel is lovely and so distinctive. Check in was a breeze and the staff was super friendly. Our room was large and comfortable. The shower was very nice with great water pressure. The bed was comfy as well. I think it would be nice to get a room at the end of the hall so you face the lake. We overlooked a parking garage across the street. The only drawback was that only one small elevator worked while we were there. The larger one was out of service so sometimes it was slow and/or cramped to get down from an upper floor. There's a restaurant on-site and there are also plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance. I thought this was a great place to stay. read more

A Hilton boutique hotel that is worth a little staycation. The rooms are cozy but cramped with a king size bed. The front desk are very helpful and they have cookies at check-in. The hotel restaurant is right across from the front desk and you can use you $15 per person room voucher there for a drink or food. I traveled with my family to celebrate Thanksgiving, trusting that The Terrace Grille would provide a memorable holiday experience. My partner went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfectly arranged for our arrival. He kept me informed every step of the way and took all necessary measures to confirm our reservation in advance. Despite his efforts, we were met with disorganization, unprofessionalism, and a deeply uncomfortable situation upon arriving at the restaurant. I witnessed firsthand the level of care and preparation my partner put into this day. On 11/21/2024, he called the restaurant after experiencing technical issues with OpenTable and was assured by Garret that our reservation for seven at 1:00 PM was confirmed. Yet, when we arrived, we were told there was no record of our booking. Salvador, the host, returned with Sean, the manager, who reluctantly offered to seat us at 1:30 PM but imposed the condition that we vacate the table by 3:00 PM for the next party. Being given a strict time limit on a day meant for celebration and connection with loved ones was not only unprofessional but also incredibly disappointing. The situation felt rushed and awkward, completely undermining the festive spirit of Thanksgiving. To make matters worse, Sean not only failed to apologize but instead implied that the error was our fault for not booking through OpenTable despite the fact that OpenTable was malfunctioning, which is why the reservation was made over the phone in the first place. His dismissive and unkind demeanor only added to the discomfort. Adding insult to injury, we were not allowed to finish our drinks at the table they just started very disrespectfully cleaning and making noise around us, before we could fully enjoy the remainder of our holiday experience. This felt very unprofessional and rude, especially given the circumstances. As for the food, I fully support my companion's description. The oysters were gritty with sand, the snow crab was overcooked and rubbery, and the Brussels sprouts were burned to the point of being inedible. The shrimp was the only remotely decent offering, though still overcooked. For a restaurant of this caliber, the quality was shockingly poor. It was both sad and disheartening to see my partner and his family well-laid plans unravel due to the lack of professionalism and care on the part of The Terrace Grille. This was supposed to be a day of joy and gratitude, but instead, it became a stressful and disappointing experience. If you are considering The Terrace Grille for a special occasion, I strongly advise against it. What should have been a highlight of our Thanksgiving holiday turned into a memory we'd prefer to forget. read more

I do recommend this hotel as it's convenient for Lakeland DT. However, we have stayed twice now and have had hiccups both times. The first time, my husband had to leave for work by 5 am and when he went to use the shower, no hot water...No one to call as it was so early. So he goes off to work pretty much just wiping himself down with a cold and wet washcloth. So, we gave it another try...Well, this time I get into the shower only to find that the conditioner bottle was completely empty! I have very thick and curly hair and need to condition it or it's a hot mess when trying to brush through it. Clearly the housekeeping staff hasn't checked the bottles in weeks maybe a month. So very disappointing that we've now been at this hotel twice and haven't been satisfied either visits. I did try to call the housekeeping manager and was told there wasn't one. I then called to to talk with the hotel manager only to be put through to voicemail not once, but twice. When I called back to ask them to speak with a person and not voicemail, I was left on hold. I'm not sure if I'll be back to this hotel and again. I certainly hope that the customer service or more so, housekeeping gets better. read more

I tried to book a small room for my Dad's 90 B-day gathering, and it took 2 weeks to get anyone to call me back, and I ended up having to drive to the hotel to speak with the manager. The front desk does not have access to the schedule. I wanted to know if the date we were looking at was available since family and friends were flying in from out of state. I finally got the room booked. The event was perfect, and the food and service were excellent. When I tried to pay for the room and dinner, I could not contact them to pay. They finally charged my card on file without notifying me. I called several times because I had questions about the bill, and there was no return call. I will never book again at the terrace. If you are in business to sell your services, your business will fail. read more

If you are visiting Lakeland or have the desire for a different central Florida experience, you have to make the Terrace Hotel part of your visit. It's an old style hotel, but incredibly comfortable. It truly reminds me of a downsized Peabody. The lobby is small but comfortable and old school elegant. It has a wonderful open covered veranda that expands the restaurant seating and the lobby's. There is also a quiet second floor bar and seating area overlooking the lobby and their amazing restaurant. There are quaint pleasant areas throughout the hotel. You are in the heart of beautiful downtown Lakeland. One of Olde Florida's secrets. Beautiful walking areas, shoppes, restaurants, and activities. We checked on the Farmer's Market held seasonally on Saturday mornings. The hotel rooms are extremely comfortable with ample space for your needs. I've stayed in many five star accommodations over the years all over the US. This little hotel holds its own. You really should give it and Lakeland a try. Unfortunately we are very displeased with our experience at the Terrace hotel. We were put in a room right off of the elevator, and asked to move as we have a pet with us (hotel is pet friendly). There's very loud noises come off of the elevator which frightens our dog causing her to bark. The front desk associate (Brenda) told us that every room was taken and we would not be able to move. When we arrived back at the hotel two hours later, we again asked if we could be moved but Brenda claimed that the last room had just been taken a few minutes prior. Well we thought it was taken two hours ago but now, suddenly, it was just checked in to? She was extremely rude, combative and argumentative during this discussion. No one was willing to assist us at this time and we were generally concerned about other guests as we do not want to disturb others. That was clearly not of their concern. The hotel itself is very old, you can hear everything outside, there may as well not be windows or walls in the room. Most rooms face the railroad track so you can imagine what that's like. It really needs a facelift and new front desk staff. The positive of this hotel is the valet and location. read more

Let me first say the front desk staff is great, as are the valet folks when working. If you go to the restaurant, they are great too. I've stayed here several times and plan to again. I left a Braum Series 8 Pro electric razor in my room over the weekend and didn't realize I left it until the day I checked out and got home and it wasn't in either of our bags. When I called the hotel, someone searched the room and they eventually found it. Beautiful hotel at a great price in a gorgeous location, The Terrace Hotel was worth the drive & every penny. With complimentary valet & a boutique feel, we definitely enjoyed our stay. It wasn't all sunshine & rainbows, tho. Cons: Elevators were EXTREMELY small. Like, my boyfriend & I were smashed into each other, small. When a 3rd person got on the elevator, you had to become best friends because you knew them very intimately now. I'm not one to complain about the air conditioning, but every time I turned it up, the air would shut off (which is what I wanted), then turn back on immediately. Room was freezing. The 'continental breakfast'. SMH. Consisted of a couple of grab & go pastries, some fruit, coffee & water. We opted to eat somewhere else. Also the lobby, while beautiful, the front half of it is a legit restaurant, which makes it a little confusing when leaving the hotel because you kind of have to walk through the restaurant to do so. The bathroom mirror. When taking a shower, the mirror steams up & when you look into it, some sort of monster stares back. It's you, but it's not. And it's the scariest thing I've ever seen. I had my boyfriend come check it out & we both ignored the mirror for the rest of our stay. I wish I had a better way of describing it, but your eyes are surrounded in black, and they bulge out a bit from your skull, & your head is surrounded by a gray fog. It's just crazy scary. Maybe the mirrors are older? I don't know. Other than the above mentioned things, I will stay here again. It's gorgeous, in the middle of downtown, and has some truly rich history. Too bad about new building largely blocking the view and destroying the lakes character for sake of a parking garage. Very nice accomodation in the heart of Lakeland. The check in and out was a breeze. The room was great. I really like the free valet. There is also a nice covered patio at the rear entrance with comfortable sofas and chairs where you can also get beverage service. The staff was exceptional. A great location in the heart of the city near Munn Park,restaurants and wonderful Lake Mirror. I would highly recommend. The only downside was the noise of the train. read more

I stayed here in January and it was great. It is an older hotel but rooms were beautifully updated. I was on the top floor overlooking the large Mirror Lake and gardens. A snack type breakfast was provided in the lobby of coffee, fruit & pastry and there is a nice restaurant on premises. It is a nice downtown location with parking and near several great restaurants as well as a great walkway around the Lake and Gardens. read more

My family had brunch here when we were staying in Tampa for the week. It was worth the drive. The food was delicious and the menu had enough variations to make everyone happy. We splurged on desert and the chocolate cake was one of the best things I have ever eaten. The wait staff was attentive and friendly and handled our large group with no problems. Stayed at the Terrace Hotel for a wedding and had a great time. They have two smallish suites we used to get dressed, hair and makeup. We also ordered room service for lunch which was delicious - I had fish tacos($16) with guacamole and home made nachos. Delicious! They also have a Grille and dining area and bar. There's also a patio out front of the hotel where you can enjoy happy hour specials as well! Only struggle while we were there was the heat. I've had to travel for work and was dreading staying in a hotel for several long stays. The Terrace Hotel was an unexpected surprise. Newley remodeled the entire staff is engaged and treats you like family. My favorite is Matt the Head Chef. He has carefully prepared a new fall menu and is constantly talking to you and asking for feedback on his new tasteful and dynamic menu all the while smiling and serving guest. The management team that took on the renovation is also in the hotel finishing up a expansion for the kitchen and they have carefully prepared the hotel to wow it's quest. So beautiful hotel check, great food check, great staff check! Please stop by the bar and get a old fashion from Ray Ray the bartender by the time you leave you've got a new friend. read more

This hotel if you can call it that came highly recommend by local friends. Unfortunately I don't think they'd ever stayed there! Our room was on the 7th floor it smelled like there was a dead animal somewhere hiding. Ripped carpet ,dated decor ,peeling wallpaper stains on everything and sheets I wouldn't let my dog sleep on even ! My wedding night was spent in the Publix Suite of the Terrace Hotel, and was meant to be a nice treat since we were not going on a honeymoon (in a sense, this WAS our honeymoon). Our one night honeymoon stay in a several hundred dollar suite was a disaster, and the hotel management has chosen to ignore all of our attempts to communicate about the situation from that night. The ceiling was steadily leaking from the minute we got back to the hotel after the reception until the ceiling tiles collapsed in the wee hours of the morning (the dripping continued after they fell). After an exhaustively long day, when all we wanted to do was get a small amount of shut eye, we were instead greeted by a perpetual drip that was quite audible from the bed. In my opinion, we were incredibly understanding about the situation and handled it respectfully on our end. We did not throw a fit in front of other guests, or scream and rant about the terrible quality of our stay in a public arena - rather, we chose to address the situation behind the scenes with emails and letters (from my parents, who paid for the room). Sadly, every bit of communication has been ignored by the Terrace Hotel's management staff. This reflects incredibly poorly on the care and professionalism of the staff of this hotel and sends a clear and direct message to it's patrons that they do not care about you or your stay. I do not recommend this establishment and encourage all potential patrons to explore other choices in the beautiful Lakeland area. One star might not be totally fair, but... I felt like I was Joe Pesci in "My Cousin Vinny." The hotel is half a block from a VERY active train track. The fright trains run though the city all day and ALL NIGHT. I was woken up 4 or 5 times in the night by the rumbling of trains and the shrieking of big diesel horns. However, that wasn't the only noise. The walls in this hotel are like paper. I could hear every conversation in the rooms on either side of us. Worse yet, one of our neighbors had the TV on all night. Literally. All night. Then he started making and receiving phone calls at 7am on Sunday morning. We had a terrible night's rest. The hotel is in a nice location in that there are lots of bars and restaurants around, and you are right across from a beautiful park. But that is about the only appeal of this place. I understand the hotel is old, but the state of repairs wasn't great. We had a number of maintenance issues, including a hole in our ceiling. I wish I could report better because this should be a nice resource in downtown Lakeland, but... I won't stay here again. My wife said this wasn't the worst place we had ever stayed, but it was on the list. If not for the noise issues (inside and out), I would probably rate it 2-3 stars. read more

**Lunch review only** So this is where the five-star dining in town can be found. The dining room includes tables with tablecloths and standing, folded napkins (are those swans?), and giant floor to ceiling arched windows that let in so much natural light. It makes for a bright and cheerful lunch experience. The Bud and I both felt a little underdone (Portland style) in our jeans and t-shirts, but no one made us feel that way. Still, there were a few tables of business suit executive types and at least a couple tables of lunching ladies. So if you plan on coming here rather than just happen upon it like we did, some advanced wardrobe planning may be necessary. Prices are higher than anything we encountered around town, but come on...tablecloths! Entrees are in the $12 to $20 range. I had a poached bosc pear salad with grilled salmon that was chock full of dark leafy greens that did not include a single piece of iceburg lettuce. Not. One. Piece. It took everything in me not to drop to my knees and proclaim the dining room the site of a genuine miracle. That salad was completely delicious. The Bud and I split a perfect key lime pie for dessert, and frankly as I write this review, I know exactly where I'm going for lunch again before I leave Florida. Whether you are looking for a place where you can celebrate a milestone, or just a refined, quiet place for a meal, the Terrace Hotel is an excellent lunching option in Lakeland. read more

This hotel is FAR from luxury. My husband and I were so disappointed, growing up in lakeland this hotel was a staple in our city. Booked a room for my husbands birthday prior to an event and the room was horrible. There were stains all over the green carpet, sprinkler system was so dirty I doubt it worked. The roof has signs of leaks, cracked tile floors in the bathroom and blood stains on the bed skirt and mattress pad. NASTY! Will NEVER stay here again!! I've never paid $170 for Motel 6 quality. Do yourself a favor, find another hotel and skip over this one. read more

Lunch with the parents ! Everything was great, they have free valet parking which was great on this rainy day. The hostess Marie was professional and made sure everything was perfect ! Our waitress Ally ( Alexander) was so sweet and has the best smile, she is a college student and is learning the ropes of waitressing. She was fantastic and made our visit a treasure ! We took our time ( while it rained and rained) and we were never rushed. Even the Valet was professional and took the time to talk about the history of the hotel, just a great experience with my parents from Massachusetts. read more
