We were pleasantly surprised to see so many families out, especially on a cold Friday evening. We got our steps in and checked out a few shops but didn't buy anything. Between the chain retail stores there were a few ethnic stores featuring traditional clothing. There's also a massive Target attached to the main building. Anyway, seems like a decent place to go shopping or to dine out.

Each mall is unique and hold some one of a kind spots inside them. This location has just that. We showed up here early in the day because we had a reservation for one of the businesses inside. We walked in and were greeted by a wide open feel and grand staircase. My god, I sound like I'm describing a mansion or hotel, not a mall. Being my first time here, I had to check out the directory to make sure where things were. It's not that huge of a mall, so finding things were easy. We first needed to use the facilities. There were nearly immaculate, which I was surprised by. Going around the mall was easy, it flowed well. I will have to stop back another time to actually enjoy myself in more of the stores.

They have recently upgraded it and have added some new stores as well. The shortlist of stores is: Giant Foods, Ross, Marshall's, Total Wine (a necessity LOL), ABC Store (another necessity hahaha), Hobby Lobby, Verizon, Five Below, LA Fitness, Sally Beauty Supply, The Dollar Tree, Footlocker, Subway, Pizza Hut, Quickway Hibachi, Jollibee, and many many more! It is an open strip mall and has plenty of parking and good lighting at night. Some stores have gone down in history as a failure while others rise from the ashes to start a new history. Take the new restaurant called Jollibee. This chicken restaurant is a place I will have check out. Maybe before Becky does. Restaurants like Pizza Hut (making it great) along Subway were they make it fresh are two restaurants near the liquor store in a beautiful purple color building. If you need food, supplies or a snack, Giant Foods can help you with that. Not feeling pretty today, Sally's beauty store or the nail salon and barbershops can help you. Feeling stressed or just need to kill some time at home? Reflexology Spa, Gamestop or The Hobby Lobby stores can help you with these things. Other games like Lacrosse can be found in a store called Lacrosse Unlimited. Unfortunately this store does not have Yukon Huskies merchandise. Parking here has gotten better with the new design for the area. I don't remember when this was fixed up, but I do remember the problems arose from finding a parking spot while the construction was underway. Landmark Plaza has been around for decades and now the area is getting an enema. The landmark mall is being torn down for some "gordy monstrosity" as Ruben would say(Ocean's Eleven: Ruben's In). More housing with shops under the apartments will appear. A better look for the city of Alexandria Virginia will happen over time. Landmark Plaza has lots to offer. Giant has always been there and has gone through several modernizations and expansions. Kmart has also been a mainstay but now they are closing down. Restaurants include: Popeyes, Moby Dick, Maleks Pizza, Chipotle, Halal Guys, Potbelly, Bob and Edith's Diner, Pho, Hard Times, a Chinese place, and Pollo Camparo. Shops include: CVS, Lifeway Books, Buy Buy Baby, and Treasure Trove thrift shop. Grocery includes: Trader Joe's, Giant, and Springfield Butcher There is a new Pediatric Urgent Care center too. As you can see, there are quite a few shops that draw a lot of cars but there is only one light to get out. There are a few other ways in and out but those are also really congested. I do find it helpful that people participating in the DC slug lines are able to park here for free during the day.

They are a blast from the past, as some of the better ones are mixed use. This one has a Dairy Queen, Walgreens, and United States Post Office. On the side closer to Braddock Road is Anita's and 711. These do serve a purpose. Getting in and out of here can be tricky. It gets congested on Port Royal Road, along with its convenience to the beltway exits. Some consider this helpful, I'm not so sure it is. Thank you to the company that owns this, as it looks better than it used to. That alone is a bonus. It works for basic purposes, so I'll give it a recommendation. Certainly it's not exciting or mind blowing, but it's a practical place to go.

I try to keep an eye on sales. They also have free gifts with purchases on cosmetics at times. They keep it clean. I have seen some items tampered and stolen in the jewelry department. Cosmetics and perfume areas are nicely displayed and offer samples. Popular items there are bought immediately and scarce there like the seasonal Estée Lauder blockbuster gift. They only had 500 that year. By the time I went to purchase it, they were all gone. I ended up buying it elsewhere for a higher price. My favorite items to buy here are the nail products for manicures, maintenance, and to save money from going to nail salon. If I can purchase the same items at the PX from the commissary, I buy from the commissary. The prices tend to be cheaper there yet there are less options at the commissary for cosmetics and beauty. Sometimes, the prices are too expensive, so I opt for places with the same products at lower prices with the same quality. For example, you can buy bleach and a pack of stationary cards for only $1.25 at Dollar Tree with the same quality as the higher priced PX products. Customer service has ranged from good to excellent. It has mostly self service to purchase items. Coupons for items, returns, and some discounted items are rung up by sales people - the lines can be slow for this. Overall, I like the PX and have little complaints. It is clean and convenient.

I appreciate how they always have the latest version of them. Starbucks is great too. Sometimes the service is a little slow but the staff is always so nice and they make the drinks good!
