Not as nice as the Bubble Tea in this plaza though. This Plaza is pretty awesome because they have my favorite bubble tea shop in the region - Jave Loco - and then a really cool pet store and some other cool places. It's a little bit hard to navigate because of traffic and the design isn't necessarily the best but it works.

They have unique pieces that you won't find in a mall or department store and that's why I think they are a gem. The prices are moderate and the clothing style is not necessarily for sister Mary Clarence that sits on the usher board but if you like to shop you can always find something you like. I would for sure come back if in the area and they get a stamp in my book ;)

I found the few employees to be kind, but the store leaves a lot to be desired. Then again this strip mall has characters. Was panhandled four times in under 20 minutes. As usual my offer for food or job applications were turned down. Parking in here is treacherous. Be very careful as it reminds me of driving in Boston. Ross sadly at this location has dropped in quality. Even their cologne and dress shirts were terrible. I won't be rolling back, although if you need underwear or socks good value.

Why shop there? I'm ashamed to say I live only a few blocks away and for convenience drop by occasionally to pick up an item or two. I can only wonder why the owner / management don't do something to clean and organize this junk pile of a " store." Apparently, there's no attempt to keep the shelves supplied or tidy and there often are large shipping boxes stacked high in the middle of aisles, posing a danger to customers ( especially children) who might accidentally bump into them and send boxes tumbling to the floor. A well run store would have the cartons emptied and items shelved before business hours. As long as this store has enough customers to keep the business going I believe nothing will be done to improve the appearance of the store or the manner in which it's operated. This morning I was there to make a quick purchase of two items - a greeting card and a calendar. It was too early for the store to be very busy, and there was only one cashier on duty. I was in line directly behind a woman whose final bill was $198.00. It takes a long time to ring up almost $200 of dollar store items. Nevertheless, no one opened an additional cash register until all $198 of the items had been rung up. Ironically, just at that point, a man, who I think is the manager, opened another register. Too late to help me or the several people behind me who were trying to buy only a few items and get out of there. This store is not customer friendly and if it were located in a decent area it likely, and deservedly, would go belly up. Less than 2 miles down the road, in Annandale, VA, is another dollar store that is well stocked, neat, clean and welcoming. Those of us with our own transportation should head on down there and patronize a business that shows its respect and appreciation for its customers.

There is a 24 hour CVS here. Maliks pizza is pretty good. The Giant can be useful. Chipotle does a lot of business here. You might get a seat, but best option is takeout. There's just not a lot of stores here to my liking. Also it really is an eyesore. Here's to the owner/developer redoing things at this mall.

Giant has always been there and has gone through several modernizations and expansions. Kmart has also been a mainstay but now they are closing down. Restaurants include: Popeyes, Moby Dick, Maleks Pizza, Chipotle, Halal Guys, Potbelly, Bob and Edith's Diner, Pho, Hard Times, a Chinese place, and Pollo Camparo. Shops include: CVS, Lifeway Books, Buy Buy Baby, and Treasure Trove thrift shop. Grocery includes: Trader Joe's, Giant, and Springfield Butcher There is a new Pediatric Urgent Care center too. As you can see, there are quite a few shops that draw a lot of cars but there is only one light to get out. There are a few other ways in and out but those are also really congested. I do find it helpful that people participating in the DC slug lines are able to park here for free during the day.

We came here for the Asian Night Market event on a crisp but warm fall Saturday. Pretty nicely set up with Asian lute / plucked zither / drums. There were five stalls (run by some famous chefs!). The food wasn't really street food / finger food style. Vermicelli noodle for example, isn't really conducive to eating while walking around (in a bowl). The plaza has artificial lawns and nice wide loungers all over. The drawback is that there wasn't any public restroom (at least I didn't find any). That's unacceptable for such a public plaza that hosts festivals often. Sure there are toilets inside restaurants, cafes, and businesses around the plaza but one shouldn't be forced to go into one of them and beg.

It has gone through a couple of face lifts and management here has kept up with the times. The 7-11 might be the only original shop in the place. The Chinese restaurant has been there for a while, but I don't recollect if it is an original shop. Having said that, a number of grocery stores have come and gone. Target and Track Auto are no more. The Advance Auto is the 3rd replacement in the plaza. One of my favorite restaurant, the Bowie Inn is no more. Sadly. Outback has replaced it and that is not the same. Marty Cards is gone (which was originally in Belair Shopping Plaza). Planet Fitness is there and the back has some shops, but not necessarily the popular ones. Some idiot designed the parking lot. Only two entrances that funnel cars. The parking lot, a maze trap, was redesigned and once you get in, the traffic pattern is bad. A number of shops built in the middle of the parking lot also reduces the parking spaces. Looks like management wants the maximum number of shops in a limited space and didn't consider the consequence of really terrible parking.

And for as big as this place is, how does it feel claustrophobic inside here? Typical stores you will find in here. When I say typical, I mean typical in the sense that these are the types of stores you would find in a dying mall. However, they are thriving here. I believe that is due to the fact that these location of this place is kind of amazing. Right off a Metro line and the streets all around her are jam packed with vehicles, you have a steady flow of customers. The area kind of feels like a Times Square area with all the vendors on the sidewalk outside. Add in the multiple entrances to the Metro and the livelihood of the crowd, you get that vibe. I didn't explore every nook and cranny of those space, but I saw enough to know that it will serve a purpose for me. Quick stops on my way home could help make my days easier. It will also be a quick distraction on evenings that I am free. What a great place, for distractions
