The thing that sets this post office apart from every other I have been to is the family who own it. They actually make visiting a pleasure rather than a chore. They are always happy and smiling, joking with the customers and generally creating a lovely friendly atmosphere. They also go out of their way to be helpful. I visited last week during their lunch hour closing with an unusual insurance transaction. They opened the post office just for me to deal with my request so I didn't need to come back. To me, it's service like this which is so rare these days. 5 stars to this little local post office.

This post office is very conveniently located which has the bonus of being easy to get to but the…read moredraw back of always being really busy. If you're lucky you only have to queue up for ten minutes but generally if you go at a convenient time (lunch time or after work) you're looking at a queue that goes out of the door and a wait of at least half an hour. When you finally get to the counter you may be lucky enough to get a friendly face and helpful person but you're just as likely to get someone surly and unhelpful. If you're just getting stamps then there is a seperate place to buy them and there is also a seperate queue if you want something travel related. It's not a bad post office when you consider how many people go in there every day but if I have a choice of going to that one or another one I will generally pick another one.

There is a service road in front of the building with a number of free parking spaces. However, it's not always possible to park there. This particular branch gets very busy. It seems to be used by small businesses for cashing up their takings and there seems to be several people that sell huge volumes on Ebay. This Post Office can issue Car Tax Discs so it's best to avoid at the end of the month. This Post Office only has a small selection of stationary in store.

While I don't use the main counter services a great deal at this Post Office (I have a more local…read moreone for that), I do tend to use the parcel pick up quite a lot. The thing to remember with that is that the hours are different to the main Post Office - they're open earlier and in the case of run up to Christmas, they're also open later. The staff at the parcel pick up are excellent - they're quick, polite and frankly one of them is like a Jedi master or something as when myself or the wife turn up, he sees us come in and knows exactly where are our parcels are without even looking at our address. Craziness! The main post office itself is much the same as the most of them - they don't have a number system like some major ones, but just have a good old fashioned queue, which moves reasonably fast depending of course on just how clueless some of the people who are sending parcels. But that isn't the fault of anyone working here or any other Post Offices!
