We specifically chose a hotel in Covent Garden because it was central to many of the sites we intended to visit and allowed us to keep our use of public transportation to a minimum. Because the neighborhood is very popular, there were always people on the street, which made us feel safe. In addition, we found a very pleasant cafe-- one of the chain of Caffe Neros in the city--nearby and had our breakfast there every morning. We were given a first floor room that more than met our needs (and saved us from lugging our bags up the narrow stairs). It was both charming and comfortable. (My wife particularly liked comfort of the bed.) Being that it was April, we were also pleased that we had plenty of heat in the room. Though we were blessed by largely excellent weather while in town, with warm and mostly sunny days, the evenings would get cool and the last thing you'd want would be to return to a chilly room. The staff were very friendly and Sajaad, the hotel's general manager, was very helpful in making recommendations and answering any questions we might have. We look forward to returning to The Fielding on our next trip to London.

It is a beautiful hotel, much smaller than Miami but that's to be expected in a large city. When we arrived to check in, we were greeted at the front desk and taken to see our room. I was immediately disappointed for a couple reasons. 1. No one wished my spouse a Happy Birthday, though we notated we were celebrating that and our wedding anniversary. 2. We were put on the first floor near the gym and the hotel was not at all full. Note that I am a Seeds member. 3. No extra blankets in the room, though that was requested. We left for a bit to eat and when I returned I expressed these concerns to Ilya. She immediately took action to upgrade our room and send a nice birthday treat and extra blankets. A special shout out to Slava as well for always being so pleasant to interact right. All in all, I think they are still working out some kinks being new, but still a beautiful place in the heart of London.

The last two nights I had to literally crawl on hands and knees up the final flight of stairs, and the last night we got take-out at lunchtime to eat for dinner as I couldn't face going up the stairs another time, so we lost 1/2 day of sightseeing in London. Then, breakfast was in the basement, and there wasn't enough space for all the guests. We were rudely kicked off our table before finishing! Manager was extremely rude and combative about everything and called me names and said I was a liar. Room was incredibly hot with no AC. People in the room above us made a lot of noise. Shower gel in shower ran out on day two and was never refilled. Starting with the first day, we had asked for a twin and manager was put out that he had to take the big bed apart and remake them as twins. He took our bags which allowed us to go roam around a bit (shopping on Oxford St) before our room was ready around 1pm. They have one computer in the lounge for free internet access, which is great. Though I did find that sometimes you had to wait since other guests want to use it too.
