You know it's gonna be bad when the same things on the menu are repeated over and over again in different combinations but yet...we ate here. We had to, my husband had a gig to play and this was the closest and Japanese. Yakitori and Sushi and of course when you are worried about Sushi~it's a question of freshness.
I'm Japanese so naturally I'm trying to eye the sushi guy and see where he's from (Only Japanese take an oath to be a Sushi guy) but oddly he is totally hidden from the height of the sushi glass with fish~what kind of fish...?I can't even tell. It's all a mystery. The Waitress, I ask her in french if she speaks Japonais? No, no, no. I keep telling myself it won't be so bad. The menu repeats over and over again Maguro (tuna), Salmon and....something else...my kids did order Tamago. There were only like 3 fishes. I kept trying to order the one with Saba (Mackeral) but it would be a crazy combination of stuff I didn't want to order. It's like they really figured out how to cookie cutter the combinations to where if you craved something special it came with stuff you didn't want and would be in a higher priced meal.
I look around, it seems like a French, Chinese spot....you know when there is all that red and mirrors? Maybe it was just before this. There's no one else in there except for us and an american couple...tourists?
The Sushi was OK-not smelly, but not special. I can't even tell you how happy I am that I didn't get sick-as I was kinda worried.
The Yakitori I ordered I thought they were going to forget...arrived just as I had totally finished my meal-oh well, okay, I tried it. It was a chicken and onion yakkitori. The onions were...charred but like, 20 minutes ago...i think they grill it at some other time and then microwave them.
The bill for 3 adults and 2 kids came to 120 Euros! My french friend freaked out! He was like, NO! No one leaves a tip on that expensive terrible food. We were leaving American size tips everywhere we went and he was like, No! That already got it from how much they charged.
They charged us crazy money for tea, 5 x teas!
Anyways, I give the extra star for not making me sick. So it was fine in a pinch in a super tourist spot. BUT really anywhere else in Paris you can have a slamming dinner for the same amount but at a REAL Japanese Restaurant with Tip Money to spare! (like St. Germain de Pres) read more
