His walker was at Crossroads, he stood up out of the cab, could hardly step 3 steps, and fell into a bush. I called the administrator twice that day. Better than our UW hospital experience by a long shot! I heard they changed ownership in past couple of years. Anyway, the Nurse Practitioner, nurses and CNAs have all been wonderful and caring. It's a little bit outdated inside but it's very clean and the care is wonderful, so who cares? In addition, they cook their food from scratch (recipes apparently come from corporate) and my Mom loves the food. They also did very well on their last state audit. Not one nursing tag... impressive! Great job Crossroads!!

We were looking for treatment for our autistic teenager. We wanted a program that was both…read moreknowledgeable and experienced in care for adolescents on the spectrum with high levels of anxiety and depression. We met with the director and two therapists to tour the facility and discuss her treatment. They spoke of extensive experience in accommodating children like our daughter. We left feeling confident and optimistic. The first day was spent providing a tour, orientation and conducting a risk assessment, which is not part of a treatment plan, but a liability requirement for Newport. Our daughter, though considered high-functioning without intellectual disability) has processing and expressive/receptive language disabilities related to being autistic. Newport told us that our daughter "refused to comply" with safety planning while they did not accommodate her disability by establishing trust/rapport or explaining things explicitly and concretely. Our daughter felt confused about what she was being asked to do. When we picked her up at the end of the day, she was nonverbal. It took a few hours of decompression time for her to tell us she will not go back to Newport. She told us about how she dug her fingernails into her arm all day to mask her panic attacks and that no one noticed, how she was sitting in a group therapy session and the facilitator stared at her expecting responses, not noticing she was frozen, and how the rooms were too crowded and too bright for her sensory needs. Her disability-related need for accommodations was not met despite advance notice to and reassurance from the staff. There were some additional concerns around communication and collaboration. We disenrolled our daughter, then were told we would not be billed for the one day since no actual treatment occurred. Two months later, we received a bill for more than $1,000 for one day of "treatment". Newport claims to operate with the mission of caring for the whole child. This was not our experience, which was very disappointing after feeling so hopeful.

I had no idea what to expect when I when I was sent to Encompass Health for rehabilitation after my neurosurgery. How fortunate I was to be treated at Encompass Health facility in Libertyville, IL. Everyone is treated respectfully and they truly care about your well being and want you to get well. The therapists encourage you and work with whatever your limitations may be to enable you to get well enough to succeed and meet your goals. Therapy is conducted in the gym. Everyone is rooting for everyone else including patients. The entire staff whether it be medical, therapeutic, food service, cleaning staff, and office staff always greet you with a smile and encouragement. I want the CEO, Gemma Fletcher to know (and I am sure she does) that the entire staff are rock stars, and their concern for the patients is genuine and sincere. I did not realize how much of an emotional high the ringing of the bell gave me when I finished therapy and was getting ready to be discharged. As much as I would love to call out by name all those that helped me during my stay, I regret that I may inadvertently omit some names. Please know how much your concern was important and instrumental in my recovery. Thank you all for everything you have done for me. The facility was run so efficiently that I NEVER had to wait for someone to respond to my call. The food was fresh and good. I never had to wait for medication, which was always on time, the correct pill, and dosage. Did I mention how beautiful the facility was? Not only beautiful but very clean. The staff was incredible, they always had a smile on their faces, which told me they were happy to work there. Physical therapy helped me to recover as quickly as I did. Everyone was very patient and took time to explain what I needed to do. The therapist stayed with me to make sure I was doing it correctly. After seeing the horrible facility in Streamwood, my sister-in-law is currently at, I realized just how lucky I was to have been at the best facility in the northern suburbs. Hands down, you can not find a better facility in the northern suburbs!!
