This is a really good park. There is a separate dog park, a great playground. Walking trails, and a fishing pond. They have very nice facilities for gatherings and do a good job with park maintenance. The entry fee is only a dollar per person, and two dollars more to fish in the stocked pond. And if there's any holiday or event coming away, avoid at all costs, unless you like peoply places or are cool with the idea of the park having one entrance and exit, which are the same place. My wife and I loved going to Kiroli Park during this last year as we have lived in West Monroe. Great place to go and de-stress by walking the trails and just hanging out. Plenty of tables and shelters to eat at. The dog park is great as well and our Boykin always had a great time. I also loved taking pictures here. read more

Been cold ever since I've been here in Monroe, La so when Saturday weather seems to be warming up, my coworker and I headed out to the park. Cost to go in is $1 per person. Plenty of parking. There is a dog park , tennis area, kids area, picnic area, a hanging hammock area , a walking trail, a shaky bridge and a entertainment area that looks like for a concert or play that can be held there. There were so many beautiful tulips around the front of the park. A huge beautiful pond for a nice picnic or fishing because I seen some young kids with fishing poles that day. I don't recommend taking the walking trails by yourself. Into our walk, there would be two path that we had to decide which to take. The trails are connected to some neighborhood so that's kind of scary because the fence is not that tall and anyone seems to can jump over. Overall, it's a pretty nice park to visit. I bet it's more beautiful when it's in the spring with all the plants and flowers blooming. read more

This was the closest park to the airport, hotel and hospital, where I was working at the time. Only $1.00 per person to get in. Ample parking and places to have a social gatherings, birthday parties, picnics, etc. The trails had several small bridges and even one suspended swinging bridge. There was a huge pond with ducks for fishing. We went in February but it was a beautiful 60 degrees. They have water fountains and restrooms however I didn't see anywhere that sold food although they might when it gets warmer. The also have a beautiful dog park as well. read more

This park is very clean, and yes you have to pay $0.50 per person for admittance in the park. They have a pond you can fish in, if that is your thing. Also, they do an outdoor theatre. I would love to see something there. It would be awesome. There are multiple trail, all of which are very nice. However, the best thing is the numerous playgrounds they have for children. One is even near a tennis court, that is taken very good care of. read more

Kiroli Park has the best (and only) dog park in the area! It is separated into small dogs and big dogs -- with separate sections for each. It also usually has a pretty good crowd on the weekends when I've been. The large dog space is huge, with a nice covered area with chairs for the humans to mingle and chat. Then there is a gated lake area for doggy swimming, with adult supervision. They can run to and fro and meet friends, just what the dog park is intended to do, so that they poop out and sleep the rest of the day after they've spent all their energy at the dog park. As for membership, it's $10 a year per pup and 50 cents a human per visit. The dogs are registered using a form they give you on your first free visit. The form has vet and vaccination information, which you turn in and pay upon your second visit. Each year ends in December/January so I definitely will be paying again for my pets to be members, it's so worth it. read more

This is a wonderful park for all kinds of activities. Walking/running trails, playgrounds, tennis and sand volleyball courts, fishing and one large field for all kinds of ball games. Several years ago I loved spending time at the park. When I lost everything and had to be on the streets for 3 years, this park was my daily haven. Would go to the gate before 6 am and would wait to get in as first in line. Paid the entrance fee every day and went to Group shelter unless it was reserved then I just sat in my van until the event was over. One group even gave me $20 so I would be able to go to somewhere and buy a lunch. I asked the lady could I go to the store and buy food to be able to eat all week and she was kind enough to say "yes". I was able to use the grills at any shelter and stay from opening to closing every day. When my favorite duck passed, I was given permission to find another duck and set him/her free. I found 3 and the director agreed that they needed to be placed in protective custody until they were able to grow. Duck and Gander were imprinted on each other. If Gander took a step, Duck would take that exact step. If Gander stretched his wings, Duck stretched his wings. Duck and Gander ate together, slept together and swam together. Gander almost died from grief after Duck passed. The first day I took the ducklings to the pond and they started quacking Gander jumped up, ran to the pen and looked in at those babies. Then turned around and walked away. But this time he walked better. He seemed to say "I knew I'd find another Duck--even if there are more --I have my duckling to protect now." So Gander began to know the world was not a Gander's worst nightmare but it was a place that a Gander could find a new Duck to be best friends with. Gander then began sitting with the other geese like a true gander is supposed to do. PLEASE never feed birds bread as it can kill them. (Look it up online) Buy some feed for Ducks, Geese, Sparrows, Pigeons and all the other beautiful birds at Kiroli or your favorite park. Also, Please be respectful of all my special birds. Don't allow your children to chase them. Teach your children to be respectful of all life. All our animal friends--wild or tame--deserve the right to live a life free from terror just because your child has stepped out of a car or off a bike. Thanks for reading my note. The best park in town especially the new smiles playground. They also have a nice dog run park, which is enclosed and safe. They have a tots and toddlers park. A beautiful conservatory greenhouse. A lake with mini picnic shelters and hiking trails all for one dollar entrance fees. It's fantastic well worth the trip. read more

Kiroli Park is the best park in the area. It has several shaded walking trails, is typically clean and has the only Dog park for miles around. Park entry prices are cheap, and they often have events, from night time ballet under the stars, to various festivals such as Celtic fest. The park has a few nice and safe play areas for children, complete with slides, swings monkey bars etc. read more

Visiting a sick relative. I am from out of town. I was looking for something outdoors and peaceful. This was the perfect spot. This park is a gem. We saw a deer and butterflies. The walking trail is almost completely covered with trees which makes it walkable even in the middle of the day in the middle of the summer. read more

It's not that Kiroli is the worst park. I mean, it's very clean and safe. The "natural setting" is too plain. Everything is the same. Let's not forget that their annual Christmas lights display has gotten worse and worse every year. read more

It's a great place to take a walk, except on Saturdays or any time there is an event. It gets really crowded then. If you are a habitual walker, runner, or tennis player you should invest in a membership, and you require one to walk your dog. They have some baggies available and trash cans for dog doo, and there is a dog fountain if your canine is willing to drink, as well as a plastic bowl for them to drink out of communally, and there are two parks for small to large dogs. Mediums can move between the two depending on their temperament. read more

Not only is this dog park the only one around for a 100 miles it's quite decent. The big dog park is fenced in and about the size of 3 football fields. There's a water fountain in the middle the dogs can play in and all kinds of benches to sit in. The nicest feature is a river that flows parallel to the park with an access fence to let the dogs swim in. The Small dog park is about half the size of a football field and has a waterfall as well. Kiroli Park is well maintained and located in a wooded, shaded area that is perfect for a Saturday getaway or even lunch getaway. It included beautiful walking trails completely shaded, a lake, well-maintained playgrounds, tennis courts, baseball field (for limited games), a conservatory and a theater area for outdoor plays and concerts.
