This park is immaculate. Restrooms, campground and trails. Campsites are spacious for motorhomes, class C and tents. This is a must stop for a few day's stay over, boat fishing or a weekend stay. Birds are well represented as well. We saw 16 different species. read more

We loved our quick overnight stay on our trip from AL to TX. We called to make a one night reservation and got a pull through site (#40). The park was well maintained and beautiful. There is some cleaning of the nature trails that would help the overall experience but we would stop her again. It is close to the interstate and a great overnight campground. read more

Don't let the name fool you. This place enjoys 5-star ratings for a reason. Poverty Point is a scenic, well-run and kept park that offers much for campers, RVers, boaters and those interested in renting cabins that extend out over the water of the reservoir lake. Rates for senior citizen RVers is $15 per night. Full and partial hookups are available. A level dumping station is available at the RV campsite area. The staff is friendly, welcoming and helpful. Excellent staff at the entry booth. Very clean grounds, our campsite was large, yet not too close to others, and a very short walk to the restrooms/kids splash pads park. Restroom/showers were very clean. They have laundry located between the restrooms. Hope to return for a much longer stay. read more

This was an exceptional place to stay. Very clean. Friendly, experienced staff. The cabin was super nice, clean, tastefully decorated, and very homey. The panoramic view was gorgeous and the sunset was breathtaking. If you and your family are looking for a nice cabin, sleeps 8, and is literally in the water, there's no other place I could suggest. There's a lot of amenities to the park too, including an interesting museum and tour of some Native American mounds. And of course the fishing. read more

Review for CABIN #4: AWESOME location and the hot water lasted a few showers which was really nice since it was really cold when we got there. Wish it had a fire place. Also the railing on entering was not screwed in and got bumped off it's support and got one of the kiddos really good in the lower tummy area when he was running down to the cabin. He's okay but he got a little bruise. Also the screen door had a piece of wood loose so there were some staples showing. And a few of the railing on the deck were not nailed at the bottom. So just be careful and bring bandaids. :) But really this place was amazing. There are ducks on the water and large birds that I can't remember the name of. Also a lot of black bear xing signs but I didn't actually see any. Also I heard one of the cabins is handicap accessible which is really nice. Another thing, the WiFi is awful so if you have TMobile then you'll basically have zero service unless you walk to the road. The friends who were with us had Verizon and they had no issues. The beds were uncomfortable. I would bring extra blankets or something to add some padding. read more

My family and I went to poverty point for the first time. We stayed in cabin 8 which was on the water. It has a beautiful view, the cabin was very nice and spacious. Everything you would need was there, you just need to supply your food drinks stuff like that. I really wish there was chairs or swings like the other cabins had on there porch. The screened in porch was nice to sit on but it only had a large table with some very wobbly and uncomfortable benches. We ended up going to buy some camping chairs. The cabin we stayed in was a handicap but it allowed pets which was awesome but for some reason the doors would automatically lock you out if you closed it behind you which is very bad, because of course we locked ourselves out and it took a while to get in touch with the front office, so that should be changed. The cabin does have cable which was very nice for the young ones. The splash pad was out of order which was a disappointment to us and the kids. With all that said I would definitely go back. The cons are definitely not a deal breaker. Overall we had a wonderful time. read more

My family and I stayed at one of the lodges (Lodge 3) at this state park in October 2023 and it was totally not worth the money we spent for it. First, the bed was horrible, had my back hurting the entire time I was there. You could hear every spring inside the bed, and it tilted downward at the head of the bed, so if you slept at the head of the bed, all the blood would rush to your head. Second, they have satellite for cable, and of course it was windy the days we were there, so the signal kept dropping. The wifi is super slow, my son could not even attend his football filming meetings on his phone while there. The shower head was awful, my husband had to tilt it about 180 degrees just to make the water hit your body and not the floor when showering. The ice maker in the freezer did not work. The bedrooms are tiny. Usually lodges/cabins have board games or something to play for family entertainment, this lodge had absolutely nothing. Needless to say these cabins are really outdated and could use some serious upgrades. Definitely will not be going back. read more

Just spent the weekend there in Cabin 4 and came home with bedbugs. I regret ever going as it has been a horrible since our return home to get our home treated after unknowingly bringing our luggage into the house. I saw bugs in the cabin but having no previous experience with bedbugs, did not realize that was what it was until I compared a picture I took of the bugs to google images of bedbugs after our return home. My parents were still in the cabin as they stayed an extra night and I alerted them prior to their checkout. They also found them in their room upon inspection and took one in a ziplock bag to the lady whom they checked out with. She told them it was not a bedbug. After sending a picture to our local exterminator who confirmed it was bedbugs, my husband called them and was told that bedbugs were in the cabin and it would be treated. The fact that they were crawling visibly on the bedding is an indication of a significant problem. Their recommendation was that we send a letter via US postal service to a person in Baton Rouge to request a refund. No email or phone number was provided. Several hundred dollars later, missed work, and a lot of labor intensive cleaning of our home, I only wished I had been warned which is the only reason I leave this review. read more

Poverty Point State Park has a great campground. I made reservations online and called to confirm that a 40' motorhome with slideouts would work in the space. Upon arrival the space was too narrow and not long enough, so I had to upgrade to one of the "improved" spaces. No where online could I find a description of "non-improved" vs "improved". To upgrade my space, we could not do it over the phone. I had to come back up to the office. At the office there is no where to turn around, so I had to drive out of the park and find a place to turn around in Delhi. Back at the office, the staff person changed my reservation to a different spot; but when she handed me the receipt, it showed I was still in the original campsite. She fought with the computer system some more and was finally able to get me a pull through spot. However, I ended up having to pay twice, which increased the price per night. The pull-through spot I ended up in was nice, level, and clean. However, while driving through the park there were several trees that needed to be trimmed to avoid hitting the motorhome. Overall, I was pleased with the park. I wish they offered single night stays on the weekend. Given the chance I would stay here again. read more
