Patrick is ALWAYS on time, always HONEST, always dependable, and the work is always done on time and done correctly. There is no crap work done here and no half assed jobs. Of course I was a little cautious having found them online, but my fears were relieved once I met with Rosie and then Patrick. Rosie is a very upfront and transparent person, and that's what made me and my parents feel totally comfortable with them. Anyway, they a did a two-story addition on my parents' small Crafsman style home, and moved the kitchen to a different location. As a result, my parents were able to totally upgrade the new kitchen because Rosie and Pat were able to get the high-quality materials at a discount, and passed the savings on to us! I had to do a lot of the translating for my parents and come up with the new plans, so I really appreciated Rosie's resoursefullness and patience with our sloooow decision-making process, LOL. A lot of the recommendations and improvements were accepted by my dad, who is typically really stubborn, and now he is glad he took her suggestions. In hindsight, the fact that none of his projects had active workers should have been a red flag. Once my ADU construction project began, I quickly learned the reason.... A subcontractor on my project shared that he has not been paid by Murad for work completed on my project and that I was just one of many clients left in the same situation by Calecco for not paying his sub. Because of Murad's failure to pay his sub on my project, I was at risk of having the subcontractor place a mechanic's lien on my home, meaning I could have been forced to pay twice for the same work to get the mechanic lien removed. I will not be using Murad and Calecco Construction for any future projects, It's simply not worth the risk, the financial headaches and legal troubles.

William (Bill) Moran was not the least expensive quote we received, but after reading his Yelp reviews we decided to go with him. He was not the most friendly or well-spoken guy I had dealt with (the initial call I placed sent me to his cell phone and he blamed me for calling the wrong number - one I'd gotten from Yelp), but he seemed to know what he was doing and told me he could start the job the following week on a Wednesday. When I emailed with him to confirm that we wanted him to do the job, I asked him to start on the date he'd initially told me he was available; turns out he wasn't available that date after all, so we set another date, a Thursday. I paid a deposit (a check he cashed with no problem) and signed a contract, laying out the schedule for the work and payment (Thursday and Friday). My husband was told his check was going to be late that week; so he called Bill right away to let him know that we'd have to pay him a day later than originally agreed upon. Understandably, Bill wasn't happy about it, but said rather than starting the job on good faith, he'd prefer to start the job Monday. Said, "see you Monday"...all confirmed. Today is Sunday; he was scheduled to begin work Monday - tomorrow. YESTERDAY I got a call from Bill saying he wanted to see if we were still confirmed for Monday, and to "call back when we got a chance". I was gone the entire day and didn't get home until after midnight, when I received his message. This morning at 9am, he calls and cancels the job that was to begin TOMORROW, leaving us living on particle board with no flooring and no carpeting, and no one to work on our floor, saying he's already got another client scheduled for a 6-day (i.e. MORE $$) job, and that he can't cancel on them. This man gave my husband a lecture on "how we do business". Yet this is how he turns around and runs his business? I'm glad we found out what kind of "business" this man really runs now, I'm only upset that we are left two weeks after initially setting the work dates starting from scratch and yet another delay to getting our flooring done. I would NEVER recommend this man for a job; regardless of his actual work, his work ethic is at issue here. BUYER BEWARE. The following is my email in response to William (Bill Moran) of Culver City's email to me, claiming he didn't have a choice because he'd set this date ALSO with his other client two weeks ago: My husband confirmed with you last week that we were definitely going to do Monday, because that is the day you pushed it back to because of my husband's check being available Friday (as opposed to Thursday). Your message yesterday was not only unwarranted as we had already confirmed, it also said to call "when we got a chance" and as I said, I had a show all day yesterday, leaving the house at 10am and I didn't return home until after 1am. You said NOTHING about another job, you said NOTHING about needing confirmation to avoid losing the opportunity. You absolutely had a choice. You are a business owner. You made the choice to put us off, knowing full-well we are living on no flooring or carpeting with 5 children in the house. If you "decided a date two weeks ago" with your other clients then you had no business pushing back our date or promising to do the job Monday (TOMORROW). You gave my husband a big lecture over the phone about "how we do business"; this is not an honest way to do business. I understand that you were inconvenienced by the balance for the supplies not being available Thursday, but YOU made the choice to put off the job, and now we are paying for it. He never asked to break up the amount or haggled with you on the price (which, by the way, you weren't the best price we were quoted but because of your Yelp reviews and online reputation we chose to go with you); we had every intention of giving you the full amount as promised and on time upon completion of the job - as described in the contract. My husband chose to be honest with you about the situation rather than giving you a check that may not have cleared, and you chose to change the date, not us. Update: William's response to my posting is a flat-out LIE to try and save face on Yelp. He put up $605 "of his own money" for supplies. We asked to postpone ONE DAY, which he AGREED to. Then....well, you can read what happened above. He even messaged me privately admitting that he should have asked if we could wait until after the labor day holiday, since he'd double-booked us when he pushed back the installation day. Then proceeded to threaten me with posting "his side of the story" if I didn't take the review down. Please. The bottom line is William Moran's Flooring did bad business.

The costs of some extra work was not clear when they took it on and they promised 2 weeks for the job but it took about 1.5 months but got done before Christmas. It took 2 weeks to clarify a situation with obtaining a lift to paint our 30 ft ceiliings, one of the main reasons we hired them. I almost thought it wasn't going to happen! You look at the walls and it looks like a bad primer. The unit is around 700 square feet and they charged 900.00 which is a fair price. They asked for half upfront which thank goodness I didn't do. I have placed a stop payment on the check I sent after seeing the unprofessional job Paintcise did in my unit. I also contacted them to make sure they're aware. Now waiting for a response. Stay away from Paintcise!
