Breakfast potatoes instead of chips because....I'm a potato slut.

The parking is fair enough for the CY area. The servers were amazing and funny. Their menu is tremendously large but the food is amazing. I had the steak dish and the steak was cooked perfectly and a surprisingly large.

I'm so glad we went to this cute little breakfast spot this past weekend. It's a little hole in the wall. There's probably 8 tables in there, but it's just so cute and the lady that waited on us was THE SWEETEST!!! I just loved the menus also, they are like a newspaper. The whole atmosphere was very cozy feeling. The food was pretty good also. The coffee is served in little tea cups. Super cute. I got the Alberta Breakfast which included a choice of any bread and I got the sweet potato waffle. Man, was that good!! I was also a fan of the grits. They are a different texture than normal grits. My son got a Cake Roll, which is breakfast sushi. It's fried in pancake batter. I was surprised at how good it was. I thought I got a picture of it, but guess not. Only thing odd about that was it is served with soy sauce and carrots that had been soaked in vinegar. My husband got the Hash it out. I almost got that. It has chorizo, sweet potatoes, beans and other stuff. I tried it and it was also good, but I don't think I could have given up that waffle! If you are ever in the area, try them out! We'll definitely be back. They also have pre made take and bake meals that sounded delicious!

I simply cannot express how much I absolutely adored this place!! This place is family owned and you are treated like family from the moment you walk in! Their iced coffee has coffee cubes in it, which is such a pleasant surprise - especially in Memphis during the summer, when things are melting before you can close the freezer door. I ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy - the gravy was so good, but not the star of the show; that was the homemade biscuits. They are cooked to perfection and taste delicious, but they stand out because of their size and shape. They are so big and square shaped, to the point where they are almost cubes of biscuits; they were cooked to perfection despite their unique shape. I will absolutely return to Kitchen Laurel - amazing prices, tastes, and stellar customer service.

Kitchen Laurel is a charming spot that made for a delightful brunch experience. Despite needing last-minute seating for a group of nine, they accommodated us seamlessly, and the service was excellent throughout. The place itself is small but full of character, creating a cozy atmosphere. I had the Alberta breakfast with grits, turkey sausage, pancakes, and eggs for just $18--everything was delicious! We also tried the breakfast sushi rolls, which were interesting, though not the highlight for us. Parking was either street or a small lot on the side, so keep that in mind. Next time I'm in Memphis, I'll definitely return to try more of their menu. If you're looking for a welcoming spot with good food, check them out!

This was my first visit and Iust say that it was very pleasant and nice. The staff was great the food amd coffee that I had was amazing. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage patties. My mouth was extremely happy, by the flavor of the gravy. OMG! It was so delicious. This is a nice and cozy breakfast and brunch restaurant. I had a marvelous experience. I'll have to male future visits to try more items on the breakfast menu. My overall experience was well worth the trip.

The food was amazing & the service was even better! Ty was so kind and very attentive. This was our first time here & it was lovely. I do not eat sweet potatoes unless they're in a homemade Mississippi pie, but this sweet potato waffle was mouth watering! It was cooked to perfection! Fluffy, buttery, & scrumptious. The candied walnuts on top were a perfect addition. The breakfast fried rice was yummy as well! We'll be back soon for the carry out chicken pot pie & another round of brunch!

Fantastic and original take on breakfast / brunch!! Cake roll and mash it up were beyond good.

The band plus our server, the remarkable T!

There are not enough stars to give to this place. We're on vacation in Memphis. My partner looked this place up and off we went. she usually finds the best places. so we went the first day for breakfast. Then we went a second day with my band (I'm a musician) and friends who had flown down from Maine. On the third day, we all went back for even more. The staff, especially T, are wonderful and the food is next level. Sweet potato waffles, Southern fried breakfast sushi, the Alberta breakfast plate....all just amazing. People come to Memphis for Beale Street, the Star Museum, The National Civil Rights museum and should come for Kitchen Laurel. Right now I'm scheming on eating there again tomorrow before we leave. And they have deadly cookies and other items to take home and enjoy. I wish we could get the chicken pot pies to stay frozen until we finish our 550 mile drive home. Do yourself a favor and go there. And then go again. And then go again. Get the picture? It's just that good ............

Super friendly Ty makes Saturday morning so pleasant.

We finally made it to Kitchen Laurel, in Cooper Young at 800 S. Cooper St. in Memphis. OH YEAH, OH YUM!! Chef Kevin Sullivan (former executive chef at Tsunami) and his wife Stacy are the muscle and brain behind this new place. The food is fresh, traditional or inspired, it is DELICIOUS!!! Check out my pics for menu and take away food. We were impressed!

Smoked Sausage served a la carte #RedHot. Expertly cooked and served juicy!

Matt, contrary to others, understood what we had in mind, guided with suggestions and didn't try to push us into extra food or expense. The ability to come in a week or so later and taste a variety of options helped really seal the deal. Even conversations about final guest count and payment was smooth. The day of the wedding, Drapers arrived as expected and quickly got busy. I'm wondering if we got the JV team because one of the guys spent the evening with pink headphones on his ears and little things like serving the sheet cakes (strawberry & chocolate) prior to, or at least with the decorated vanilla wedding cake was not understood. These two minor items are the primary blemishes on an otherwise very good meal, superb post-dinner cleanup, and overall experience do not change my strong endorsement for contracting with Draper's. As a post note, we had 130 RSVP and should have planned for 90% attendance since some had last minute emergencies or needed to leave without eating much. Please let me know if you would like to stop by for a bite...we have extras. :-)

There is plenty of parking in a lot across the street. We went inside and found it to be pretty busy, but we got a table for 4 quickly. The place was clean and homey-feeling and I loved the fact that they used disposable plates, utensils and napkins! It is probably way easier on the crew to clean up, and it adds to the relaxed atmosphere. I had the corn nuggets to start, yum! We finished them easily, they were so good. Then the entree of my chicken tenders, beans, and Mac and cheese came out, along with my sweet tea. The sweet tea was perfect, I drank a whole one during my meal and they gave me another to go in the souvenir Gus's cup. The food was just great, chicken was juicy and perfectly crunchy on the outside. Beans and Mac and cheese, delicious! I ate all of it even though I was stuffed. I even went so far as to order a piece of pecan pie for dessert, but unfortunately our server came back out to tell us they were out of it! Guess it wasn't meant to be (this time)! Our server was really friendly during our whole meal, chatted with us a little and made sure we had a great experience! Bottom line.... Go to Gus's!

The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, making it a comfortable spot to grab a bite. I wasn't really a fan of the mac and cheese, as it leaned way too heavily on the processed cheese flavor and ended up overly cheesy in a not-so-great way. The texture and taste reminded me more of melted processed cheese than a rich, homemade mac and cheese. However, the service was delightful and easily made up for some of the disappointment with the sides. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the visit. While not everything hit the mark for me, the great service and tasty fried chicken make Gus's worth trying if you're in the mood for comfort food.
