Her market analysis was…read moreway off base, she did not deliver information by the dates she committed to, her communications were curt, many of my questions were not answered, and when I pressed her for an answer, she wrote back and told me that I just like to argue. The flyers were hideously ugly (black ink on goldenrod paper), and they contained redundancies and typos, as did the online listing. The flyers were never corrected even after I pointed out the problems. Dana was not there to conduct the open house; that was done by another agent in her office. There was no gift to me at closing, unless you consider a bottle of mineral water a gift. I emailed Dana after our business was concluded, and told her how disappointed I was in her service and the way I was treated. The only mistake she "owned" was the flyers not being corrected. It didn't matter to her that I would have preferred to be given a choice about color pictures on white paper vs. black ink on goldenrod paper for the flyers. She did not apologize to me for insulting me by saying that I just like to argue. She doesn't know me well enough to draw any such conclusion. She also made it clear she does not do gifts. She gave the referring realtor over $2k just for sending me her way, but couldn't spare even a Home Depot gift card for me out of all the easy money she got for the sale commission, which totaled over $16k. I have two friends who plan to list their Salem homes in September, and I have steered them clear of Dana. In fact, I have many friends in Salem and will use social media to steer all of them away from this shoddy service for premium fees. The referring realtor expressed her regret for the referral and she gave me very thoughtful gifts. I would not be writing this if Dana had taken my emailed feedback to heart, apologized and tossed me some kind of bone to make up for the lousy service, but even when she knew I was unhappy, she offered nothing conciliatory. I have written quite a few Yelp reviews over the years, but this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a bad one.

Especially if the house is being sold "as-is," there is ALWAYS an underlying problem with homes tagged this way, even if this realtor swears up and down, "There is nothing wrong with the home." His practices are questionable, and while he will absolutely keep the seller's best interest in mind and fully commit to his fiduciary duty... is it worth it when he puts sellers at risk by hiding material facts from buyers? He will cover issues with flowery words and superficial repairs, doing everything possible to get a house sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Once you're committed to the purchase, you're screwed. We bought a hell house from a seller he represented, and there are severe issues with the home, including severe mold, water damage, and the works. Many problems were covered with paint and came to light once we closed the house. Be extremely careful when dealing with this "realtor" as a buyer, and be even more cautious as a seller because you don't want a liar representing you. It might end up biting you in the end.

I thought an open house was to allow anyone to view the property. But apparently it is a fishing expedition to get data to harass you relentlessly, every day, by phone, email and text. Unsubscribing is ignored. Perhaps they think this will make me contact them when I am willing to make a purchase. But it is very irritating and I will advise anyone I know to avoid dealing with them. There are many professional realtors out there who do not use harassment to get clients. Go elsewhere!
