Super customer service! Very convenient location for me. I like the older architecture. It's very quiet in the Pacific Northwest room.

There's so much to do at the library. From story time to craft days and teen days. We shouldn't…read morediscourage teens from enjoying the library. They have a safe place to hang out instead of running around out in the streets. Maybe once in a while they grab a book and that's great for the youth. The library is organized. The librarians are very helpful and nice. There are cute activities for the kids to do daily, from reading, coloring, playing with the felt, blocks, and hiding out in the tree house nook. There is a used book store inside that I'm dying to check out but always forget because they open on Mondays. There's computers to use on site and you can print papers if needed. There is a small playground outside to take the kids too. Please get a library card, it's never too late to read and never too late to encourage the youth to do the same!

Not loving the new library. The old one was small but had a lot of good books to choose from. The…read morenew library has way too many teens/kids just hanging out. They're not reading. Literally occupying seats talking with someone else/messing around. The kids nook area for younger kids/preteens has too many computers and too many adults sitting at tables back there without young kids. Would be nice to have a real library not a hang out place for 12 to 18 yr olds. They need a much bigger selection of books. They also need way more copies. Everything is always checked out.

The college is not the sort of place students get sentimental about, but if you can't get into any…read moreschool of your choice, you could do worse than Olympic. But all I want to review here is the Fireside Bistro. It's a wonderful hidden cafe on campus, with fireplace and extra special Friday feasts. Breakfast is only from 8 to 10 am, and offerings range from basic to oh my isn't that fancy. Menu changes to lunch at 10 with a whole different array of choices. You gotta get there before 1 pm as they do close early. The quality has varied from year to year. Previously it was one of the best little restaurants in Bremerton, a real dream to take out-of-towners to. It's not THAT good presently but it's still pretty darned good. The menu is in continuous flux and sometimes what they have is superduper. It was also dirt cheap in the past, priced so even students could afford it. But nowadays both the Bistro, and the basic cafeteria, are tragically expensive. I presume some funding got cut, and hungry kids and teachers had to pick up the slack. I would not generally recommend the cafeteria though the hot-table isn't notorious cafeteria food; the culinary students do try to design interesting daily menus, but it still has to work on a hot-table, and it can be too limited, and they forget about the vegetarians on campus too often. The Bistro, though, is worth checking the on-line menu (at the Olympic College website) and if it sounds good then it will be good, and worth a trip over there even if you're not a student.

Paying out of pocket for school. Was told by Olympic College Records and Registration employee that…read moreI have to pay for parking. According to Security staff at Olympic College, I did not have to pay for parking. Parking is free in the summer. I was charged anyway for parking by the cashier while paying out of pocket for my classes. The Accuplacer Placement Exam is to see if I should take a certain Math course for Medical Assisting. The office where you could ask questions about the exam, closed at 1130am the day I was told to sign up for the test. I went online to sign up for the test and found out the fee was 25 dollars. Another out of pocket expense. Since the office was closed that handles the exam was closed: i put my credit card in the system and paid the 25 dollars. Unbeknownst to me, and because the office was closed, I did not know that the 25 dollars was not refundable. When I checked my calendar at home, I found out I had doctor appointments when the exam was to be taken. I immediately called the testing center at Olympic College to try and get a refund. No one answered the phone and of course no one was in the office. On the website for the 25-dollar Accuplacer test , there was not a warning that I would not get a refund if I canceled the test. The warning came after you had given the 25 dollar payment. I was shocked that an institution would not warn students beforehand. Becoming a Medical Assistant was my next goal after CNA program. When I talked to an employee who helped run the program, she told me that my previous courses taken at Olympic College would carry over to getting me a Medical Assistant certificate. When I met with the supervisor who was in charge of the program, her response took a negative tone. The supervisor told me that I would have to pay for all the classes over again. Being suspicious of her antics, I emailed the Dean of Olympic College. I got no response from the Dean. To me, this seems like a money grab. I am paying for my own college classes. I should not be paying to take the same classes over. Olympic College should ask the lawmakers to give them more money to stay open. Do not depend on students paying (out of pocket).
