The staff are always amazing, helpful, nonjudgmental, and accepting every time I go the library does an excellent job of keeping books on the shelves and transferring requests and even getting titles from other library departments I do wish they would subscribe to the Kanopy service though for additional video watching titles but no complaints read more

I love this library branch. My family discovered it over 20 years ago when we first moved into the area. It's a far smaller branch than what I was used to back in California but it had more than enough books sate my constant reading hunger. I always need to be reading a book and frequently I've got the next 2-3 books to read lined up after I finish reading the current one. The branch manager supported my then school age daughter's reading habit which was far more voracious than mine. I think back then you couldn't check out more than 3-5 books at one time. However, that limit was relaxed for my daughter who could check out 7-10 books and finish reading them within a week. She did this for years until she insisted on growing up and moving away to finish college and start her teaching career. At this branch read my fill of Louis L'Amour, was introduced to the likes of Elmore Leonard and Elmer Kelton, T.H. White, Amor Towles, and many others, books of different subject matter. I've been able to check out many movies on DVD which saved me TONS of money in rental fees. It's a great little branch in a beautiful location in town. I don't spend much time there anymore except to pickup or return books and DVDs I placed holds on online. But this branch is representative of how great the Kitsap Regional Library system is. We are avid Library goers and have been for years and the Port Orchard location has easily become our favorite one. And all of this can be attributed to their youth program leadership. Emmon and Ollie are so amazing and we absolutely love them. They always make my family feel super welcome and are so amazing. They know exactly who we are and make sure we have fun. I mostly just wish that they offered their kids events earlier in the day because now it interferes with my youngests nap time, but hopefully they are able to offer them earlier in the future! read more

Very nice helpful staff that helped me with printing out items from my phone. Printing prior to arrival didn't go well. It only printed 1of 3 of my items, which is why I know the staff was very nice, helpful and PATIENT. They're located in a great location. I'm not sure if there are views of the water from inside, but if it is, a good book in a nook with a view would be ideal. read more

I was trying to enjoy my birthday its tough on me . I visited the library in Port Orchard. However, I am perturbed that there is NO SIGNAGE regarding that printer of there's. The printer + photocopier are one in the same something I've never seen. One problem I had was the condescending way the reference librarian? spoke to me which I didn't appreciate. I am older than I look & I've been talked down to so much that now I have a zero tolerance for disparaging remarks. Plus the place seemed to have an odor which reminded me of when I was in high school i.e. the gym. Smelled like musty gym socks. I noticed it. I won't be back. I'll go elsewhere. read more

Love this library! I come every Friday with a 3 year old. The kids section is set up with toys and puzzles, as well as books. Throughout the year they have story times for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Their summer time reading program is awesome, I earned a really cute shirt and tote bag this year! The librarians are all really friendly, they remember us by name and always take time to talk to us. read more

I have never been to a library with such poor customer service. It's so bad, we obtained a card for the Pierce County Library system and now drive there. I wanted to teach my child about borrowing and how libraries work. The librarians here didn't want to help us with checking out books and didn't want to help with renewals either. After hearing, for the third time - rudely, you can do this yourself on the computer - I gave up. I just read an article that this library system hasn't had a levy approved by the voters in the county since the 1970s. There's a reason why - the employees here are not providing any customer service to the patrons of the library. In fact, they're actually hostile when they are asked for assistance or information. I'm a voter in the county and I"ll be voting against the proposed levy and voluntarily donating to the Pierce County Library System. read more

This is probably the tiniest library that I've ever seen in my life. However, it's well kept and the selection of books and DVDs is pretty good. Considering the fact that it's only 3 minutes away from my place, I can't complain. Regarding customer service, I haven't had any problems. I was a huge fan of this library until I had some over due materials. They did not send me a reminder until the items were already 10 days overdue. I guess you have to sign up for special reminders if you want them before that. I returned the items a few days later and they said one was damaged and I would have to pay for it. I said sure not knowing it bumped me over $50 to the collection amount. A month goes by and I get a letter from a collections agency saying I owe the Library $68. This was a surprise considering I had not received one notice saying I owed anywhere near that much. I thought I owed like $25. When I called to complain they said to bad I had to sign up for an extra notice to tell me how much my fines were. The real kicker is the collection company charges $15 to send me a letter. A call from the library would have been sufficient with out tacking on this extra fine. Thanks for treating a loyal patron so poorly for forgetting to return some books. The Library needs to work on all these policies like calling or sending an email before sending someone to collections!!!!!!! I will not be going back for a long while read more

This library is my favorite. The selection of books and DVDs are great. The employees are incredibly helpful. They even helped me download magazines on my tablet from their website. Plenty of computers to use and free wifi. I like their selection Books To Go. I can run in and just grab a few books. The location is great, right downtown and great view of the water. I can take my daughters, then find a place to eat lunch within walking distance. Farmers market is right outside on Saturdays. read more

I don't have an issue with library staff. I've found them to be most supportive , they're aces in my book! Even had someone there help renew my DVDs for me online when I was unable to. However some of the library patrons? A whole different matter. I enter the library where there is a family completely fanned out and I can't get by them. Now this particular branch is very small, so this family seemed quite oblivious to me walking towards them, I know how certain people LOVE to ignore others and I'll leave it at that! That was quite irritating & I was vocal about it too. Next on my issues was a young man with a beard who was standing in what I thought was a line to talk to the librarian. The guy was like a tree trunk! So his girlfriend(?) walks up to him to talk to him ( I'm fine with that although it was very awkward. The girlfriend turns to me saying "Excuse me" to ME! Like I'm intruding on their private moment or something. Was she ON something? I'm not sure but I'm IN LINE BEHIND THE TREE TRUNK GUY WHO IS DOING nothing, saying nothing and I'm the one being treated like an intruder? I have to say this branch gets the weird ones. I think I might steer clear & instead go to Bremerton over by the Eastside. read more

I love love love our Port Orchard Library. All of the librarians are super helpful and they treat every patron with respect. As with all libraries, tight funding makes for tight services but these folks work hard to stretch every dollar. Of course we can all help by taking care of library resources and looking for ways to help. Donate books and frequent Friends of the Library book sales and other fund raising events. Agreed with a pp, librarians seem irritated if you ask for assistance. And the library is very, very small. Sometimes difficult to find parking and the hours are awful. If it weren't for my daughter I'd avoid this place, but their storytimes are fun for the littles. read more

We go to this library at least twice a month. The staff have gone out of their way to help me find books for my kids. I really appreciate all the activities they put together--the summer reading program, mud pies, legos, crafting tables, story time, etc. They release catalogs with information of upcoming events if anyone is interested.
